To like Katie Price

I know this is going to be unpopular but I am reading Katie Price’s latest book and I can’t help but feel the trauma she faced as a child has led to the terrible decisions she has made as an adult.

I am not condoning her behaviour but I have to admit I still have a soft spot for Katie, especially seeing how much she loves and advocates for Harvey.

OP posts:

she's a narc and an animal abuser but hey,you like her. Fill yer boots 😡🤢

hildabaker · 01/08/2024 09:35

I feel sorry for anyone who is obviously their own worst enemy. It must be awful to keep seeking happiness and fulfilment but to never find it.

GingerPirate · 01/08/2024 09:36

What do you like about Katie Price, OP?

x2boys · 01/08/2024 09:36

I used to think she was good with Harvey, but she exploits him to her own advantage and she's said some very personal things about his behaviour, s ,that's there just no need for
As the parent of a disabled child with complex needs i find it awful she could do this ,he's very vulnerable.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/08/2024 09:38

Is this the Take A Break version of when people claim they know it’s likely unpopular but they think Nigel Farage seems a jolly sort and is probably good fun to have a drink with?

TERFtown · 01/08/2024 09:39

I've always felt bad for her too. She has a naivity to her.

If she'd met a decent man young, she could have really built some stability with the financial success she had. However, she always goes after the wrong type of man, and that's partly why things have turned out this way.

Jagley · 01/08/2024 09:41

I can't have a soft spot for someone who abuses animals, repeatedly uses drugs, uses her children and owes hundreds of thousands of pounds to people while flaunting having yet more plastic surgery.

I hope when she gets arrested it hits home that she needs to change, I doubt it will though.

Izzynohopanda · 01/08/2024 09:43

Thus thread isn’t going to go well for you, op.

I think a lot of people liked her in the past, when she matured from Jordan into Katie price, the business woman, and ‘I’m a Celeb’ did her a lot of favours.

However, the several traffic offences, alleged animal abuse, going on luxury holidays whilst apparently broke etc, has hugely tarnished her reputation. People are fed up with her not taking responsibility for herself.

JacquesHarlow · 01/08/2024 09:44

I do too feel for her, when you aren't ok (mentally) it does affect your personality and life and what decisions you make, you don't think straight and don't see the consequences of your actions before hand,

I have not been ok mentally at times in my life. I have been difficult with people, I have argued with them, I have resigned from a job when tired.

I have never however repeatedly got behind the wheel of a car when drunk.

That's a choice. That's character.

Glitterybee · 01/08/2024 09:45

I used to be a fan when I was much, much younger but definitely not now.

Her stories of childhood trauma changes each time she relays it or writes about it! Strange…..

This is true.... although I've been mentally not ok and have made silly decisions before. I guess people cope and handle it differently 🤷🏼‍♀️

LostTheMarble · 01/08/2024 09:50

I do feel for her. She is a classic case of someone who needed help with their neurodivergence as a young person and now it’s spiralling out of control as an adult all the bad decisions she’s made are seen as completely her fault. I’m not excusing the awful things that have happened with the animals, she needs to be banned from keeping them in my opinion. But drugs, debt, impulsive bad decisions, bad driving, these are classic issues facing many with untreated ADHD.

samanthablues · 01/08/2024 09:57

She should have gone on therapy many years ago. I don’t have an issue with someone suffering from addiction, extreme body dismorphia , being a car crash (metaphorically speaking) and monetising the whole thing, your life your choice. It’s the part when you start reproducing, killing animals and driving drunk that I have a problem with. She had the money for therapy and rehab, she could afford it but sounds like she didn’t give a hoot. I believe the whole “Katie price” persona while marketable a decade ago it just got out of hand because of mental health issues.

Toomanysquishmallows · 01/08/2024 09:58

I don’t find her at all likeable , she has a restraining order against her , for screaming abuse at one of her exes girlfriends in the school playground. At some point , people have to accept responsibility for their behaviour.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 01/08/2024 10:03

Why do people keep bringing up Ant McPartlin? He's fuck all to do with this, he was stupid, got caught, was punished, hasn't done it again.

KP repeatedly breaks the law and once again fuck all is done about it

Alltheprettyseahorses · 01/08/2024 10:04

I've got an irrational soft spot for Katie Price too. I don't know why, she's done some awful things and I'm not really into celebrity culture either, I just do. I used to know one of her flings from very early on in her career and he only had nice things to say about her. I saw her in panto last Christmas and I thought she was quite good.

Some people turn to drugs, some people turn to booze. No person is the same and everyone copes with things differently. No it's no an excuse but not everyone can cope with their thoughts, feelings etc hence drugs and booze being their first call so it numbs the pain and they don't think about it.

The brain is a powerful organ, sometimes if your stuck inside your head with the thoughts, the feelings and the memories you just want too try and blur it out and that's why people use drugs and booze to do this.

What was the trauma she experienced as a child?

Rape?

1987qwerty · 01/08/2024 10:10

What number book are you reading? By my reckoning she's 'written' about 10 autobiographies now. Each one seems to chuck out new sensational stuff. Not convinced as to how true they are. Object is to sell books and make money so the more sensational the better.

Oh, she was good in a panto! Well, that changes everything…

Starlightstarbright3 · 01/08/2024 10:15

No I don’t … I don’t know what her childhood trauma as never read any of her books …

However .. she has been in and out of the priory .. had the money for any therapy she desired.. She has been an adult for a very long time - there is only so long you can blame your childhood .

As a mum she is a terrible role model

she absolutely doesn’t prioritise her children , uses Harvey to gain sympathy for her situation .

so whilst you can have any opinion you want . I literally can only think that the people with a soft spot buy into her crap

SaintHonoria · 01/08/2024 10:15

Plenty of people have trauma as a child but once they become wealthy as she did, they sought therapy and made good life choices to better themselves and their children.

All she has ever done is behave atrociously and never take any responsibility for her actions.

Sadly, the older daughter is going down the same path, making easy money by 'modelling'.

somepeopleareunbelievable · 01/08/2024 10:19

I feel sorry for her - I think she is nuerodivegent and has a lot of mental health issues. This makes her impulsive and unable to fully assess the consequences of her actions. I don't think he's inherently bad but it's a bit like putting an over tired 9 year old in change of children, animals and wealth - of course they are going to make poor decisions. (And yes, I know that is patronising, but I think it's the truth)

And I'm definitely not saying all neurodovergent people are like this! I think I'm neurodivergent myself. I think she's neurodivergent but her problems are due to untreated trauma, awful childhood, mental health issues, possibly personality and generally dealing with a whole lot of crap and spiralling

BustingBaoBun · 01/08/2024 10:22

I didn't care one way or the other about her until I saw footage of her teaching Harvey (about 9 at the time) the most disgusting awful swear words. She though it was hilarious. As he was repeating them.

I went right off her from that moment onwards.
I think she is a terrible Mother.
