To like Katie Price

lieoernd · 31/07/2024 23:53

I know this is going to be unpopular but I am reading Katie Price’s latest book and I can’t help but feel the trauma she faced as a child has led to the terrible decisions she has made as an adult.

I am not condoning her behaviour but I have to admit I still have a soft spot for Katie, especially seeing how much she loves and advocates for Harvey.

Deadringer · 01/08/2024 10:23

Loving and advocating for your child is about the most basic thing you do for your child. What about providing stability, good role models, consistency? I feel sorry for her as a fellow human being but I think she is a rubbish mother who's selfish choices have destroyed her childrens' home lives.

Kinneddar · 01/08/2024 00:34

Sorry but no.

That's no excuse for drink driving, drinking while disqualified, stalking another woman, breaking restraining orders, going bankrupt numerous times and the list goes on.

She might be good with Harvey but it says a lot that her other children all live predominantly with their fathers

I hope the police are waiting when she steps off the plane from her latest holiday & transport her straight to jail

I thought the younger two children were taken from their dads because of abuse allegations against his girlfriend (a video was released showing her screaming at Bunny and throwing food at her)
I feel bad for all of her children, she is completely self obsessed and delusional.

Disturbia81 · 01/08/2024 10:41

I've always been on the fence.. most celebs I can't stand but I've always liked seeing her on tv talking, I find her really vulnerable and down to earth and funny.
But then you see what she looks like, her lifestyle, her headlines and just cringe.

OooSorryDoctor · 01/08/2024 10:41

Being raped at gunpoint in 2018 may have caused some of her issues in recent years 🤷‍♀️

She’s had a lot of things thrown at her over the years… sexual abuse, severely disabled child, hounded by paparazzi, controlling relationships, bankruptcy etc, it’s got potential to warp your view of the world and affect your behavior

Cas112 · 01/08/2024 10:41

She can't use that to excuse everything forever

Does it give anyone else a pass?

I didn't care one way or the other about her until I saw footage of her teaching Harvey (about 9 at the time) the most disgusting awful swear words. She though it was hilarious. As he was repeating them.

I went right off her from that moment onwards.
I think she is a terrible Mother.

Well, I am just so glad you were available to judge her from your sofa, as a Mother.

Meanwhile D.Yorke, father of Harvey, isn't teaching him anything. Because he hasn't spent any time with him since he was born.

Auburngal · 01/08/2024 11:05

Don’t like her abuse with animals. The poor things

Totallywoah · 01/08/2024 11:20

@JacquesHarlow

I don't think anyone is saying that Dwight Yorke is going to win any father of the year competitions but that's a completely conversation to how Katie Price behaves as a mother, being a single parent doesn't make it okay to teach a child that the word cunt is a really funny thing to say.
She has terrible taste in men which just makes it worse for her children. Princess and Junior seem to be living a nice life with Peter Andre and I think Harvey lives away from home but I don't think Jett and Bunny are allowed back to their dads because of abuse allegations against his girlfriend (A video was released of this)

Fine. We'll differ on that then. You think it's OK to proactively teach your disabled child disgusting swear words to use for everyone present to laugh at. Your prerogative to have that opinion.

And yes of course Dwight Yorke should've been involved but that's a different point.

Aprilmaymum · 01/08/2024 11:35

I understand your comments OP and it is incredible sad how troubled she is.
I really liked Katie when she went into the jungle. She was honest and had a certain vulnerability about her. She had been badly let down by the father of her disabled baby and I do believe that had more of an affect on her than she would ever admit. Yes I agree about her reckless actions and she is lucky to still be around and not in prison or indeed dead. and I do agree she should never be allowed to own animals again.
i would love to put my arms around her and tell her that she does not need to change her body or her looks and she should start to look after her mental health and more importantly love herself. She seems to sadly put on this front of being so so tough but inside she is crying to be loved and accepted by jumping from relationship to relationship.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/08/2024 11:37

Fair enough if she hadn't mistreated animals and driven drunk. She did though so Yabu

GreenIvyy · 01/08/2024 11:40

I feel that when i read about her in the paper i do not like her BUT whenever she does her reality series and being on screen etc, i dont know, i do find myself liking her! I dont agree with her life choices. Its a shame shes burnt many a bridge now as she couldve turned things around. Loved her lingerie range she did 🤷🏻‍♀️

HashtagShitShop · 01/08/2024 11:45

I did like her, infact I had a really soft spot for her for a good few years and thought she was trying her best in hard circumstances (see for example how Peter spoke to her in their documentaries. If he spoke like that to her in front of cameras and staff imagine what it was like when noone else was there.)

The last few years or so.... Eh. There comes a time you have to be the adult and stop playing silly games and accept your lot. I don't deny that she's not shaped by trauma and things that have happened to her, but you can't be the victim forever and keep repeating the mistakes. It's obvious the men she chooses are bad influences and in it for headlines and what they can get from her and being associated with her. She needs to be and remain single for a good long while and needs someone with a firm hand who she doesn't walk over to manage her affairs. Her mother is obviously weakening as she has poor health and her siblings often sound like they're not making the best choices for her too. She needs a strong manager figure who can stand up to her and get her on the straight and narrow, off the drugs and then she might be able to make a come back and recover some of the public sympathy

Doggymummar · 01/08/2024 11:49

It annoys me that she owes money to everyone and is renting a £5k a month house in my road, driving a £140k range Rover whilst banned and having raucous parties in a quiet suburban street. Anything if value should be sold to iay her debts and she should live according to her means.

Blackcats7 · 01/08/2024 11:50

My childhood and life has contained more trauma than Katie Price has had shags and I don’t use it to excuse disgusting irresponsible behaviour like hers. In fact my traumas have made me more motivated to help others and it is why I became a learning disability nurse because I wanted to stand up for people who were frequently treated like crap.
She is a waste of skin. I detest her for the animals she has killed and harmed, the children she has exploited and neglected, the people she has put at risk through repeated drunk driving, those she has effectively stolen money from (which includes all of the public as tax payers) and the young women she has influenced to copy her ignorant over sexualised persona and self mutilation.

Beezknees · 01/08/2024 11:51

Nah. I had a shit childhood but I don't parade a load of different men in and out my DS's life, I don't drink and drive, I don't neglect my pets.

Saying that, I don't like how Peter Andre was always painted as the saint in their relationship. He said some vile things to her, I think behind closed doors he was an right arsehole.

roxyro · 01/08/2024 11:53

usernother · 01/08/2024 09:10

From what I've read her childhood trauma is different depending on who she's talking to about it.

This.

i used to like her but watched her drive Peter Andre away then marry the transvestite guy (can’t remember his name) shortly after. She did this because he’d just won celeb big brother and she wanted to get in on the act. She is totally and utterly addicted to attention and will say and do anything to get it.

The media drive all this “Mother of the Year” nonsense. She’s never done anything to deserve any such award. She’s a self publicist and uses Harvey to gain tv work and publicity.

Added to the above, she is a nasty piece of work away from the cameras.

Of course. Another of her unverified stories.

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 01/08/2024 12:06

I had a traumatic childhood and I am autistic and have ADHD. If I abused animals and perpetuated the trauma cycle for my children, I bet you wouldn't like me.

I don't get the awe she didn't / doesn't mean it mentality. There is no excuse for her repeated behaviour and complete inability to take responsibility for her actions. I don't care who you are.

I get what you mean about liking her in person. She does seem to be good company.

However, if only her actions weren’t so disastrous…

No apparantly they both still live with him

Toomanysquishmallows · 01/08/2024 12:39

@Kinneddar , I read that they have been placed with their dads mum .

Noodge · 01/08/2024 12:45

I DO feel a bit of sympathy for her because, as an above poster has said, she's obviously struggling and always has and that's sad for anyone however the animal abuse makes my blood boil-no excuse for that..

I've had multiple things happen. My Father was terribly emotionally and often physically abusive. I haven't ever had a relationship that wasn't abusive in some capacity. I've been raped more than once-my quite recent ex tried to murder me and almost succeeded.

The worst I've done to any of my animals encompasses that I once fed my dog bread and treats instead of dog food because I couldn't face shopping. Another time I didn't walk her because I was so depressed, she just had the garden and we cuddled on the sofa most of the day. I've perhaps now and again not been quite so attentive or played with her as much as I should have-I am talking a handful of times throughout about 20 years of dog ownership!

NOT allowing injury, allowing multiple escapes, neglect, abuse, downright irresponsible ownership.

And that's before I get started on all the rest of the stuff!

CharlotteLightandDark · 01/08/2024 12:48

I like her, I know she’s a bit of a twat and makes poor decisions but I just do.
Shes funny, ballsy, self deprecating and brave. I do think she could be neurodiverse.
She reminds me a lot of a friend of mine who experienced CSA around 11-12 actually.

does she actually abuse animals or is it more that she’s careless and sloppy and impulsive? Accidents could happen to anyone, I know someone who accidentally their kitten in the dryer, horrendous but not abuse.

Izzynohopanda · 01/08/2024 12:59

“she’s careless and sloppy and impulsive? “

I get that you’re saying that’s she’s not deliberately mistreating her animals, but being careless, sloppy and impulsive isn’t really acceptable either.
