Passports - is there anything I can do?

Not sure what I’m asking really but DT’s passports haven’t been dispatched and our flight is 6.45am Wednesday.

It’s not looking good is it? Is there anything I can do?

Would be grateful for any constructive advice.

Also apologies for using AIBU but obviously done so for traffic.

Mine came the next day after being dispatched. Try and ensure somebody is in. There's nothing you can do to hurry them along but you should be able to track them. Good luck 🤞🏼

Stompythedinosaur · 15/07/2024 15:49

No advice but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

No same day passport appointments available tomorrow, I guess?

MidnightPatrol · 15/07/2024 15:50

What have they said when you have called the passport office?

Valhalla17 · 15/07/2024 15:54

I wouldn't worry to be honest, you have a bit of time. Contact them, be really polite and non-pushy...say you've got a flight booked. You'll be patient etc...

Then wait.

I had my ds passport pending and was able to collect at 5pm the day before our holiday! They did a child's lost passport in about 4 days and it was very stressful..but we got it.

Good luck!

Ioverslept · 15/07/2024 15:57

Do you know if it has been printed and if so can you collect it? Have you spoken to them? Can you change the dates of your trip? Good luck!

Midge75 · 15/07/2024 15:59

Try your MP? Sounds ridiculous but this was the advice my husband was given and it worked!

Always one 🙄

GoldViper · 15/07/2024 16:05

Always one 🙄

But it’s a sensible question! How on earth are MN meant to know the answer to when the passports are likely to arrive. Surely the sensible thing to do is to call the passport office and ask for an update 🤷🏻‍♀️

dementedpixie · 15/07/2024 16:13

Have the passport office been updating about the status of the passports? How long ago did you apply for them? Have you called the advice line?

Shaketherombooga · 15/07/2024 16:13

Same day appt. Friend flew to Belfast and back for theirs!

dementedpixie · 15/07/2024 16:14

GoldViper · 15/07/2024 16:05

It's a perfectly sensible question as the passport office can see what stage the application is at

You can't use a same day appointment for children. The fastest for them is the 1 week fast track

Clearinguptheclutter · 15/07/2024 16:15

have you got text updates and is it dispatched? If so you’re probably ok, if not then probably not, sadly

how long ago did you apply.

MidnightPatrol · 15/07/2024 16:16

GoldViper · 15/07/2024 16:05

What’s wrong with the question?

UpUpUpU · 15/07/2024 16:16

I think it depends when you applied for them. Last week, I’d cross your fingers and hope for the best. 2 or more weeks ago I’d be calling them for an update.

I hope you get them in time

andymary · 15/07/2024 16:19

If they've been dispatched then the passport office can't do anything.
When did it get dispatched, today? Or last week? Any tracking number for Royal Mail?

OP said they hadn't been despatched

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/07/2024 16:24

Have they been printed? I would also call the passport office and check the status or if anything can be done.

ComtesseDeSpair · 15/07/2024 16:26

Agree with calling and asking if there’s a status on the application. If they’re printed and in the dispatch centre to leave today you might have a small chance; if they’re not even printed yet then I think the only constructive advice to be to look at any possible ways to rearrange flights.

Whatamuckup · 15/07/2024 16:50

dementedpixie · 15/07/2024 16:15

Yup that’s right @dementedpixie

Status on the tracking is that they have been approved and are being printed. When I took them last week I was told I couldn’t collect.

I think we’re going to lose the flights.
They say you should receive them within 7 days of the application. It’s 7 days tomorrow but they haven’t been dispatched yet.

TakeOnFlea · 15/07/2024 16:54

It's not looking great no. Can you move the flights to late on Thursday?

paywalled · 15/07/2024 16:57

I hope someone has dispatched them and they just haven't updated the system yet.

Fingers crossed for you!

Verite1 · 15/07/2024 17:00

I would call and ask for them to be dispatched. I did that when I had a similar problem and they expedited them. But I’m afraid it’s still looking unlikely now.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 15/07/2024 17:08

Call the helpline with your reference number / PEX id. The staff may be able to make sure it is dispatched at the top of the queue.

Did you really leave it until 7 days before flying though? The SLA is 3 weeks with no issues.
