How many calories a day do you eat?

I'm 33 and average around 2050-2100, but I think it's too much.

I do an hour+ of exercise per day, but despite being 8 and a half stone I have a flabby belly and I'm bloated.

I've had 1800 ISH the past few days and feel a lot better for it, so I'll try and stick to this.

I try to stick to about 1800 in the week. I don’t really count them though, I just know roughly how much is in what I regularly eat. I’m more relaxed on the weekend, but rarely go nuts.

ManchesterLu · 08/07/2024 17:58

I doubt anyone who's your weight has a "flabby belly". Do you mean "a normal belly which might not look exactly like the distorted version of the ideal woman's body shape constantly thrown at us by the media"?

Unmute · 08/07/2024 17:59

It doesn't really matter how many calories other people eat. We all have different needs.

2050-2100 would be WAY too much for me, but I'm very short, and older than you op.

Beezknees · 08/07/2024 18:00

Currently 1500 a day but I am overweight and need to lose weight. To maintain my weight I'd need around 1800.

midgetastic · 08/07/2024 18:02

Bloating isn't to do with calories

It's more likely something that your body doesn't like

Although bloating - see a GP if you have felt bloated for more than 3 weeks

It is possible that in eating less you cut out by accident the thing that makes you bloated

Oh don't be ridiculous.

I'm exactly the same weight with a flabby belly because I can't be arsed to tone my muscles up, so it spills over the top of my jeans and wobbles when I walk 🤣

It's quite possible to have a flabby belly at many different weights.

Opinionwontchangeluv · 08/07/2024 18:14

I eat what I want but saying that I'm not a lover of cakes, biscuits, sweets. Love rice though but I walk my big dog four or five times a day, go gym 3 times a week and in-between do little work outs so I keep my weight down.

Opinionwontchangeluv · 08/07/2024 18:16

Also them electric pulse machines do work to tone your stomach, you can buy cheap ones on temu or shein won't work if you are over weight though only if you're "flabby untoned"

Didimum · 08/07/2024 18:17

I can only eat about 1300 calories to maintain my weight. 5ft 2 and 9.5st.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/07/2024 18:18

1100 is the maximum calories I can have without putting on weight

Yes I'm under tall Grin

notnorman · 08/07/2024 18:19

1000 to maintain. I'm 5'4 and 47. 800 to lose weight.
It's incredibly annoying.

Hereforthedramaz · 08/07/2024 18:21

1400 to maintain, 1200 and under to lose.

But I'm only short at 5"3

38yrs and currently hovering around 60kg

As476 · 08/07/2024 18:23

I’m 5ft4 and am trying to gain. I’ve been on approx 2500-3000 a day and gaining around 1kg every 2 months. I’ve been to the GP and he can’t find any issues. It’s a struggle to maintain any weight gain. If I eat any less than that I lose it so quickly.

SparrowFeet · 08/07/2024 18:30

I'm definitely up and down throughout the week but it must average out at about 2k a day. I prefer to have two meals a day and have a nice big dinner.
I'm 5ft 7 though and looking to neither gain or lose and I do exercise a lot with high muscle mass.
I'm really surprised at the low numbers.

Yuope · 08/07/2024 18:41

About 1200 another one who’s on the short side and with pcos so I’ve struggled with weight for years, around this keeps me at a healthy weight.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 08/07/2024 18:48

I'm aiming for 1500 a day as I'm trying to lose weight (5 ft 7 and 12 stone). However it's ending up more like 1700 which isn't really doing much, especially as I'm pretty sedentary. I need to get my arse into gear!

BobnLen · 08/07/2024 18:56

1500-2000 to maintain. DH is on a diet and is having that amount and losing about 2lbs a week, lucky thing.

I'm 5'10"

Zanatdy · 08/07/2024 19:03

I’m 5ft 1, weight 9 stone 5 ish and I burn around 2000 cals a day, but only by doing 15-18k steps a day, otherwise it’s only 1500 max burn. So very easy to gain weight. I’m losing 2lbs a week at moment on a diet, but eating 1200 max

OneTC · 08/07/2024 19:11

Male late 40s, very active

2800-3200 depending on activity levels. I am trying to maintain

Random occasional days of just black coffee or jasmine tea

kitsuneghost · 08/07/2024 19:31

5ft tall ca. 2500 kcal

henlake7 · 08/07/2024 19:34

Im 5ft 5, 9st 10 and currently eating about 1500 a day (on a diet and generally I lose a pound a week like this).
If maintaining Im around 2000 but I am very active though as well.

Funkyslippers · 08/07/2024 19:34

Probably around 1800 calories. I exercise in some way every day

Wgdici52828 · 08/07/2024 19:35

Normally between 1800 and 2000 a day. I’m very tall and walk about 10k steps a day and that seems about right for me.

afrikat · 08/07/2024 19:54

1400, currently losing around 1lb a week. Am 5'6", 154lb, lift weights 3x a week, cardio 4-5x a week, 10,000 steps a day. Aiming to lose another 14lbs (am 36lbs down so far)

sillybillypocketfulofchilli · 08/07/2024 19:54

Oh, thousands...
