How many calories a day do you eat?

I'm 33 and average around 2050-2100, but I think it's too much.

I do an hour+ of exercise per day, but despite being 8 and a half stone I have a flabby belly and I'm bloated.

I've had 1800 ISH the past few days and feel a lot better for it, so I'll try and stick to this.

Those on the 1500 (which I think I need to be in to lose) what are your daily foods that you enjoy and feel full on for 1500 please, need inspiration!!!

Anothernamechane · 08/07/2024 20:02

I’m on holiday so currently about 100,000

AhBiscuits · 08/07/2024 20:04

I'm 5ft 4 and 10st 4. I'm having around 1200 atm and losing weight.

thebear1 · 08/07/2024 20:06

I'm trying to lose a stone so 1400 with the occasional increase to allow for social life. I'm 52 and lost 7 pounds this way but it's really slow.

MartyFunkhouser · 08/07/2024 20:07

86 today - but only because I have a cold.

I try and stick to 1000 during the week.

Crazycatlady79 · 08/07/2024 20:08

500 a day to maintain, 250 to lose.

Gladiator6789 · 08/07/2024 20:09

I'm 5'7, or just under. I do feel like it gets harder to eat as many with age, sadly.

Nah, just kidding.
I don't count calories. The amount I eat fluctuates. Sometimes too much, sometimes to little.
I don't do enough exercise, either.
I'm not hugely overweight, although I'm plumper than I'd like.
I'm fine with how clothes look on me and I'm quite energetic, so all good.

Pickingmyselfup · 08/07/2024 20:11

I've set my goal to 1600 which is approx 300 less than maintenence to lose weight slowly. I have about 3kg left to go to get to where I would like to be.

However I don't always stick to it, last week I had 3 very bad days so I averaged about 300 calories over maintainance.

I got my figure from a TDEE calculator based on my age (37) height (5'1) and activity levels (I'm classed as active day to day and on top of that I do actual exercise 6 days a week)

Alainlechat · 08/07/2024 20:14

About 1400 but losing 1-2lbs per week on that so I think I can go to around 2000 or slightly over to maintain.

Age 54, 5'7 and exercising x 5 per week.

Have lost 39lbs so far and am at 154lbs.

I doubt anyone who's your weight has a "flabby belly". Do you mean "a normal belly which might not look exactly like the distorted version of the ideal woman's body shape constantly thrown at us by the media"?

I have a very flabby belly and I weigh 7st 7!

ArcticBells · 08/07/2024 20:22

I constantly worry about calories and try not to put on weight but goodness knows how many I actually eat

Teacherprebaby · 08/07/2024 20:22

What kind of exercise do you do? Weights will get rid of the flabby belly, cardio won't.

SquashedSquashess · 08/07/2024 20:27

46, any more and I’m just too full

Of course, there are some terribly competitive under eaters on MN who’ll be along to claim they eat even less. Totally unbelievable.

ShyCrab · 08/07/2024 20:42

About 2,400, which I know is too much for me but I’m still breastfeeding and hungry

tillyandmilly · 08/07/2024 20:46

I am on 1,600 calories per day on a weightloss regime - losing 1lb a week - sedentary!

Titsywoo · 08/07/2024 20:59

I have around 1800-2500 a day (depending on the day!) and maintain (I am 5ft 3 and weigh 13 stone and am pretty active with my job)

Nelbert19 · 08/07/2024 21:01

37 year old, 5 foot 8, 13 stone, currently breastfeeding a 4 month old

i eat 1600-1800/day and have been losing 2lb/week with that. 2 stone down so far, another 2 to go to target weight.

I walk 7-10k steps/day and do a 15-17k step hike once a week. I do a mum and baby circuits style fitness class 1-2 x weekly (err most weeks 😬)

i will balloon when I go back to work 😅 Will start weight training again when I can leave the baby without my boobs and that should kick up my metabolism again to make up for decreasing breast feeding 🤞🏻 I don’t think I’ll be able to eat more than 1800kcal/day to maintain a healthy BMI though

SalmonWellington · 08/07/2024 21:03

At 8.5 stone you're in the healthy weight range for a 4 foot 10 woman.

FrancisSeaton · 08/07/2024 21:06

I try to inhale -300 on weekdays but at a weekend I eat three sunflower seeds so sadly end up averaging 245 a day

Gladiator6789 · 08/07/2024 20:09

It does as you need less calories as you age, it’s quite depressing to put your age as 21 in the TDEE calculator and see how many more you’d get to maintain if you were 25 odd years younger. Why people gain in middle age as they don’t realise you need less

Zanatdy · 08/07/2024 21:10

oberst · 08/07/2024 20:20

I have a very flabby belly and I weigh 7st 7!

When I lost 24lbs in lockdown and went down to 7.5 stone I still had a flabby belly too. I mean a lot less flabby than now as I’m 9st 4 ish but it was flabby

SardinesOnGingerbread · 08/07/2024 21:14

About 2400. I'm 5'3" and weigh around 8 stone 5. 46. Perimenopausal. Always snacky.

Crinklycrisp · 08/07/2024 21:16

No idea,I never count them.

Gladiator6789 · 08/07/2024 21:19

Even from age 33 compared to 23 my TDEE is 100 cal less, for exactly the same height and weight :(
