This.

Yes, birth control isn’t solely down to the woman… why not ensure you always wear a condom, if you don’t want a child?

Mouswife · 03/07/2024 21:02

Yes. He should

Sanch1 · 03/07/2024 21:02

Yes, if a man doesn't want a baby use contraception, or to be 100% safe abstain!

Coffeerum · 03/07/2024 21:02

It’s actually entirely within the man’s control to not have a baby, so if a baby is created of course he should be liable financially at a bare minimum.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/07/2024 21:02

Yes

What if the woman says she's on the pill?

Pretty poor form to assume your partner is lying too. Condoms aren't 100%

BiscuitsForever · 03/07/2024 21:03

Yes. Condoms are there for a reason.

MargaretMistressOfFuckinDanger · 03/07/2024 21:03

Yes absolutely he should pay maintenance. Wear a condom, get a vasectomy or abstain if you aren't prepared to be a father.

Sunnydiary · 03/07/2024 21:04

Any time a man has sex with a woman, he knows it could result in pregnancy. Even condoms aren’t 100% effective.

So of course they need to pay.

TeenLifeMum · 03/07/2024 21:04

Yes. The point to decide not to have a baby is before having sex.

So what do you think @dillydallybub

Hermittrismegistus · 03/07/2024 21:04

What if the woman says she's on the pill?

And? The pill isn't 100% effective.

Don't want a baby then don't have sex.

LaineyCee · 03/07/2024 21:04

If he didn’t want to contribute to the cost of raising any potential children, he shouldn’t have sex with a woman of child-bearing age. He has, there’s a child, he has a legal and ethical obligation.

HouseRoadhouse · 03/07/2024 21:05

Yes

AutumnFroglets · 03/07/2024 21:05

Yes he should. He had options.

Condom. Vasectomy. Abstaining.

HowIrresponsible · 03/07/2024 21:03

But if you absolutely 100% didn’t want a baby, why would you leave it up to someone else? What if the woman innocently missed a pill or whatever, there could be no malicious intent (I.e. to ‘trap’) but the man has relied on someone else to remember to take a pill each morning

Whitesapphire · 03/07/2024 21:05

If she lied and said she was on the pill then no. If she baby trapped him in any way then no. But obviously that is hard to prove so men would be better off taking responsibility by always using condoms.

sanityisamyth · 03/07/2024 21:06

Yes. Just because the father doesn't want the baby, doesn't mean they don't cost anything.

FatmanandKnobbin · 03/07/2024 21:06

Yes, biology dictates that any choice he has ends at ejaculation.

Any child resulting from that doesn't deserve to be financially punished.

Kendodd · 03/07/2024 21:06

Yes.
The CM belongs to the baby and regardless how that child came about, even if the mum lied, the baby has rights.

StandDownCharlie · 03/07/2024 21:06

Why do you ask @dillydallybub ?
