To not understand why she messages me?

millennialboss · 27/06/2024 15:14

I’m in a group teams chat at work where it’s general work chat but then sometimes a team meal will be decided on.

She will then message me privately to say, there’s a meal on the 10th. She knows I’m in the group??

I’d understand if it was a couple of days after and I’d not acknowledged it but she will literally tell me within minutes of it being posted.

is she your boss? do you often gossip independantly from the other teams group? i tend to find this in our office, there's a main chat, then there are branches of chats by individuals who chat amongst themselves, usually about the ones they have left out of the chats.

FOJN · 27/06/2024 15:18

Who is she?

Can't you respond with, "thanks for letting me know but I'm already in the group chat".

Doltontweedle · 27/06/2024 15:19

Maybe she pms everyone to make sure they haven’t missed it in the group?

malmi · 27/06/2024 15:19

You don't say who "she" is so I'll assume it's your MIL.

Remove her from your work Teams chat. She has no business involving herself there.

Nectarinesarenice · 27/06/2024 15:23

I would just message - ‘yes I know, I’m in the chat’

millennialboss · 27/06/2024 15:24

She’s just a colleague, same level as me.

then as above... say yes thanks i saw in the group chat. sounds to me like she wants to start a bitch fest about the meal etc

purplecorkheart · 27/06/2024 15:26

Maybe she thinks that you are not in the group or that you have the group on mute. Just reply with Thanks _. I saw that in the group chat. Repeat the exact same every single time.

FOJN · 27/06/2024 15:26

Respond once telling her you're in the group chat and ignore all future messages.

Well that's a stretch!!

Well that's a stretch!!

i was wondering myself how we had gone straight to MIL?

ArgonautCycle · 27/06/2024 15:28

Just say 'Yes, I'm in the group chat' and don't give it another thought?

DuckyLuck · 27/06/2024 15:28

Are you a bit scatty? I used to have another Mum at school remind me of stuff like that, as I often missed newsletters etc. I was grateful as she was helping me out ... but if you're not and you are active on the group chat, that's annoying.

As simple as this.

Either ignore any pms in future or just repeat the reply every time she does it.

millennialboss · 27/06/2024 15:31

I think they were trying to be sarcastic and funny, but it failed miserably.

Do you need to reply?

Differentstarts · 27/06/2024 15:39

Just msg back yeah I see it on the group chat thanks. Is it really that big a deal

🤣🤣 that’s hilarious

OP context is a thing for a reason - it’s useful. Otherwise people will assume ‘she’ is your MIL, for example.

Just do as PP say and tell her she doesn’t need to tell you.

I wonder if she likes you - and wants to make sure you are going .. perhaps she wants to be your work bestie?!?
