Don't throw your poo bags into people's skips

We're having work done on the house. The skip is outside the back door, and the wall between the back door and the house has been demolished for access. There is temporary metal fencing which clearly shows the skip is on our property.

We live along a lane which is popular with dog walkers. Today I opened the back door to take laundry out and nearly stepped in the poo bag someone had lobbed over the fence towards our skip and obviously missed.

Even if it had gone in the skip, it doesn't get emptied every week. So, as soon as something heavy (like construction materials) was placed on top of the poo bag, that's going to go everywhere, and stink. And probably make it harder to retrieve usable construction materials.

What is wrong with people? Don't put your literal shit on other people's property (oh and actually pick it up and take it home with you/put it in a designated bin regardless).

IABU: totally fine to just throw dog shit anywhere, as long as it's in a bag

IANBU: don't throw actual shit onto other people's property. Or anywhere except a bin or your own house (where you can do what you like with it)

I was going to say something but won't as I'm so angry having had the misfortune to read this OP

Not at you OP but the factual subject

It's a bin calm down. I always do this when I'm on a walk it's very convenient saves me holding on to it till we get to the park

Boxina · 06/06/2024 20:53

Honestly, dog owners are so grim and disgusting when it comes to dealing with their dogs' poo. I don't understand why they get dogs if they don't want to do stuff dog owners have to do.

Did you read what I wrote, about nearly stepping in it and the fact that it doesn't get emptied regularly (it's not a bin)?

It isn't a bin, that's the whole point.

It's a skip, privately hired and probably designated for building waste.

Rebusmyfire · 06/06/2024 20:58

I thought the contents of skips are checked pnce removed from.your property, stuff removed for metal, recycling etc... so if loads of exploding poo bags it makes totally grim....

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/06/2024 20:59

Dirty buggers and I'm a dog owner.

Take your shit home with you or put it in a public bin. It's utterly disgusting to leave poo on someone else's property. What is wrong with you?!

Scampuss · 06/06/2024 20:59

It's gross.

Skip contents often need to be shifted about Tetris-style as the skip is filled; then the workers who sort the waste later need to separate out what's recyclable etc. (gone are the days of it all going to landfill). Contaminating recyclables is literally shitty behaviour.

siameselife · 06/06/2024 21:00

DH does this when a skip is parked in the street and I've watched lots of neighbors doing it as well.
I don't know why!

Exactly, it's really unfair on those who do this job.

I live 5 min walk from McDs and during the first lockdown when they were fully closed, I on my first walk after getting Covid and saw a man walking past McDs with his dog and popped a dog poo bag in one of the McDs bins! Yet a council bin opposite!

Those McD bins didn’t get emptied until they reopened the drive thrus. So that poo was festering in that bin for 2 months plus. Yet council bins 2-3 days

nobeans · 06/06/2024 21:01

If you wouldn't stick human poo in a skip don't put dog poo in a skip. If you would but human poo in a skip then all hope is lost.

Vergingontheridiculous · 06/06/2024 21:02

@whyhavetheygotsomany I guess if you're so sure of yourself maybe next time you could do the courtesy of asking if you could put dog shit in people's skips? Or knock on the door to let someone know you'd attempted to put shit in their skip and accidentally left it on their doorstep?

Vile!! Imagine the poor sods at the skip hire depot who then have to sort through it all for disposal.

Agree with a PP who said that dog owners are a different breed. One woman used to walk down our road and push her dog's poo (in a bag) down the drain..... just why would you think that was ok?? Every day she used to do it, sometimes numerous times, any time anyone challenged her she used to shout "fuck off, it all ends up in the same place" I honestly dread to think what she used to put down her toilet at home

coldcallerbaiter · 06/06/2024 21:04

I do not believe in letting dogs poo and pick up in bags. Poo is left as remnants on the ground. We are all walking this shit around.

They should invent a diaper for them and it can be bagged and put in a bin.

if possible less dogs, a lot less. It’s heaven going in holiday to countries or places with far less dogs.

It's not a bin. Dog owners are so entitled.

The contents of skips are sorted and recycled wherever possible. Some of this must be done by hand. It is NOT a bin.

There are dog shit bins for a reason. I don't think there are dog shit skips.
