Tired Episode 19 GIF by The Simpsons

Following on from a thread on there, it got me wondering, do you wear nightwear?

Since being an adult, I never have! My PJs are used as loungwear that i may use for transitioning between bathtime and bed

yabu - I do wear nightwear
yaNbu - I do not wear it

A basic, cotton nightie, but tracksuit trousers also in bed if cold. DH wears nothing!
Another controversial topic on MN is underwear! I only wear underpants in bed if I have my period.
If relevant- we don't have kids.

wasntlikethisinthegoodolddays · 05/06/2024 13:21

I prefer it if me and DH sleep naked, but if it's really cold I might throw a nice nightie on. In mid winter DH might wear a T-shirt or something. If DH is on nightshift and I'm going to bed alone, then I do tend to wear a t-shirt or nightie. Not sure why.

StarlightLady · 05/06/2024 13:23

I’ve slept naked since l was 14. I’m in my 40s now. Only exceptions have been in hospital and camping on a cold night.

NuffSaidSam · 05/06/2024 13:24

I love PJ's in bed. I only sleep naked in the height of summer. I'd never get out from under the duvet if I was naked and it was chilly!

TheSock · 05/06/2024 13:32

I’ve only ever slept naked on holiday when it’s been hot and sticky.
Otherwise, I sleep in an oversized T-shirt and my knickers. I’m a ‘stick one leg out over the covers’ sleeper, it would feel a bit weird if I had no knicks on.
Dh sleeps in his boxers.

Averagelife · 05/06/2024 13:35

Can you imagine being in a deep sleep and you wake to find some emergency has happened and not only that but your’e naked! 😄

This is why I wear nightwear.

MonsteraMama · 05/06/2024 13:36

Nope, stopped wearing jammies at about 18 and never looked back.

I'm also that godless heathen who has a 4 tog summer duvet on all year round and never closes the bedroom window. I was in heaven a couple of winters ago when it got down to -12° at night.

PurpleHiker · 05/06/2024 13:36

Yes, pyjamas because I'm nearly always cold.

Thepeopleversuswork · 05/06/2024 13:38

I sleep naked unless it’s freezing in which case I throw a dressing gown on.

Never really had much luck with pyjamas: I like the idea of them but the tops and bottoms never stay together long!

RedPony1 · 05/06/2024 13:38

i wear a giant tshirt

PiggieWig · 05/06/2024 13:38

I like my legs free so either a nightie or knickers and vest top.

FunnysInLaJardin · 05/06/2024 13:38

always wear pyjamas, I would feel too exposed without them.

Dont like sleeping naked at all

I was delighted to find a 2.5 tog duvet in ikea recently! I hate being hot in bed , my idea of heaven is warm in bed with a lovely cold breeze blowing over me . I have got worse over the years it’s true , I think I’ve just got used to it . And before anyone mentions it I’m well past menopause and that made no difference anyway.

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 05/06/2024 13:46

Brought up wearing nighties and PJ to bed- spent 20s enjoying wearing nothing to bed - then had kids and started with pj and nighties.

I have long sleeved tops - more singlet tops and long trousers and shorts to wear as temperature and inclination takes me.

Do have dressing gowns as I am finding I've gone from springing up and immediately getting washed and fully dresses as brought up to being in pg till mid mornings at weekends - often after wash. I think it's a signal to both myself and rest of household I may be up and awake but not ready for daily business yet.

Yes, this is exactly how I feel! Unless it's a heatwave I wear a T-shirt & knickers. I feel sort of 'vulnerable' if I'm completely naked and asleep. Plus I have a teenage son, and I'd die if he came into my room for some reason and found me snoring away with the covers kicked off, legs akimbo and my 56 year old boobs and foof on display! 😂

ManchesterLu · 05/06/2024 14:05

I do, unless it's really warm in the summer.

We run a business from home and tend to get a lot of deliveries which can start early, so I need to be in a state where I can jump up and open the door if we get a 7am delivery.

Katemax82 · 05/06/2024 14:22

I've worn nightwear since becoming a mum 18 years ago as I need to be able to get up at a moments notice, also I sometimes sleep in one of my kids beds. The added bonus is my husband doesn't automatically think I'm up for it

If there is an emergency the last thing l would be bothered about is being seen naked. M and D and sister slept naked too, home was relaxed about bodies when we were growing up.

Preparetoturnright · 05/06/2024 15:04

I wear PJs but I have my alarm set for every hour so that I can get up and put on a wash to deal with the grim sweat, germs and drool and put on a fresh pair. Obviously I strip the entire bed too.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/06/2024 15:08

I can't sleep wearing any kind of clothes. I'm not a cold person, and anyway, you're under your duvet. I have a dressing gown nearby in case I need to run outside (not ever happened).

If an emergency had happened, the last thing I would be concerned about is the emergency services seeing my jacksy hahaha

I love nightwear. My favourite clothes are nightwear! I’d only sleep nude if the sheets were changed daily and life’s too short for that.

Proudofitbabe · 05/06/2024 15:21

Would love to sleep naked but I get cold. Also like PP I think, what if a burglar came in and I was naked? I would defo cope better in any emergency with something on!

Livinginaclock · 05/06/2024 15:35

Always pj's, I'd live in them if I could
