Tired Episode 19 GIF by The Simpsons

Following on from a thread on there, it got me wondering, do you wear nightwear?

Since being an adult, I never have! My PJs are used as loungwear that i may use for transitioning between bathtime and bed

yabu - I do wear nightwear
yaNbu - I do not wear it

Knickers only, including as a child, but I always have a "respectable" dressing gown within easy reach (i.e., not hanging on a hook on the back of a door) in case of emergencies.

used to wear t shirts maybe knickers sometimes when younger now I tend to wear longer granny nighties. Pjs are awful dont feel right nor dressing gowns, I tend to go from bed to shower to dressed but often wear my nightie round the house in the evening. OH sleeps naked which I dont really like

I sleep naked, my husband is the polar opposite, he sleeps in long sleeve pjs, top tucked into bottoms and then the cuffs of his bottoms tucked into some socks.

Would love to sleep naked but I get cold. Also like PP I think, what if a burglar came in and I was naked? I would defo cope better in any emergency with something on!

I’m fairly sure if a burglar came in me chasing them naked would send them packing pretty sharpish!

Yes; vest tops and colourful printed PJ shorts in summer, cotton long-sleeved tops and colourful printed PJ trousers in winter (I'm obsessed with Cyberjammies).
I like the feeling of being able to roll out of bed and open the door to get the papers in, then make coffee and sit about, without having to stop to put clothes on.

PizzaPowder · 06/06/2024 17:51

Full length pj bottoms all the time. For some reason I cannot stand my thighs touching. Short sleeved top in summer, long sleeved in winter.

Not since the heat-wave of 1976 when, as a 10 year old struggling to get to sleep in the heat, Mum and Dad suggested that my birthday suit would make more appropriate nightwear for the duration. It did, and still does!

Definitely PJs, often a jumper too! I get cold and also hate getting up and out of bed naked, get all shivery.

I do and I think it's less about actual "sleep" and more about "night time". I tend to go upstairs quite early, shower/skincare and change into nightwear but then I am reading, can go back and forth for multiple cups of tea (or a snack if I am binge-watching something). If I would be going straight to sleep I probably wouldn't.

Don’t you get crumbs in the bed? My bed is my friend, she copes with my naked self but would complain bitterly if l ate food when in her.

CobaltQueen · 21/07/2024 18:37

I couldn't sleep naked, surely you end up needing to wash the sheets more often and of course bodily fluids to deal with.
I wear a long nightshirt or a vest top and shorts.

Chypre · 21/07/2024 18:41

@StarlightLady I do eat (snacks!) in the bedroom occasionally but not in the bed, no. My bedroom has a bit of a teenager setup, with a nook for non-sleeping activities. Like going down the internet rabbit holes on my laptop.

StMarieforme · 21/07/2024 19:27

I have worn just underwear in bed for years now. I wear shortie pyjamas when my grandkids stay. I always wear a bra (I do not find a well fitted bra uncomfortable) and at 61 with 38E boobs they are still quite good!

UnctuousUnicorns · 21/07/2024 19:35

Depends on the temperature. Very warm - just pants. Warm - full length sleeveless nightdress with pants. Average - sleeveless vest top with full length, loose pj bottoms. Particularly cold - long sleeve, long leg pyjamas, with cuffs on wrists and ankles. Always with cotton pants underneath - I don't like seams rubbing.
