Tired Episode 19 GIF by The Simpsons

Following on from a thread on there, it got me wondering, do you wear nightwear?

Since being an adult, I never have! My PJs are used as loungwear that i may use for transitioning between bathtime and bed

yabu - I do wear nightwear
yaNbu - I do not wear it

I was delighted to find a 2.5 tog duvet in ikea recently! I hate being hot in bed , my idea of heaven is warm in bed with a lovely cold breeze blowing over me . I have got worse over the years it’s true , I think I’ve just got used to it . And before anyone mentions it I’m well past menopause and that made no difference anyway.

I've got a 1 tog duvet. It's fab.

Averagelife · 05/06/2024 15:40

I think it’s easy to say that you wouldn’t care in an emergency but I know that I would feel very vulnerable if someone broke in and I was naked, the last thing I’d want to be doing is trying to get my leg into my pyjamas.

stressedespresso · 05/06/2024 15:42

Yuck - the thought of sleeping naked is disgusting to me. Unless you’re washing your sheets every single night then they’re absorbing all of the sweat and bacteria (especially from down there!!) that PJs would.

LifeExperience · 05/06/2024 15:48

I did when my children were at home. I didn't before they were born and I do not now.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 05/06/2024 15:48

I hate sleeping in anything, it's a pain having knickers on for a few days of the month.
I only own pyjamas for hospital, camping or visiting friends. It's more healthy to let your skin breathe and be free.
I can grab my dressing gown if the house is on fire or just jump out of the window naked, it's not a concern.

GalileoHumpkins · 05/06/2024 15:48

(especially from down there!!)
Australia?

I wear a t-shirt and knickers, pyjamas if it's really cold.

user1497787065 · 05/06/2024 15:50

Naked for me too. I read the knickers in bed thread too and thought why?

OrlandointheWilderness · 05/06/2024 15:54

oh naked here for both me and DP. Can't bear the feeling of PJs in bed. Then we can have naked snuggles too!

Scissorsisters · 05/06/2024 16:14

Naked for preference. Shortie pyjamas if necessity dictates.

chirpystarling · 05/06/2024 16:27

I wear a cami vest and knickers. I get hot and couldn't wear pjs.

piningforautumn · 05/06/2024 16:27

As a kid, I had nightgowns, long sleeping t-shirts, and pj sets. As an adult, I wear a baggy tee and pants, regardless of the weather. Never more, never less. I do own some fuzzy, warm pj bottoms, but I only wear those out of bed/for lounging late or early.

rainbowbee · 05/06/2024 16:29

I sleep naked unless it's freezing or I have platonic company, in which case I wear pj shorts and a t shirt. Can't stand things around my legs in bed. Real pyjamas are lounge wear, not for sleeping in.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 05/06/2024 16:30

Yeah, usually a nightie. I find I get too sticky if I'm totally naked - sweaty bits stick to each other!

mitogoshi · 05/06/2024 16:33

No, hate clothes in bed. I own tracksuit bottoms and an old y shirt that I use when camping or if I need to sleep on a sofa (not happening now!!!)

MartinsSpareCalculator · 05/06/2024 16:36

PJs are clothes for around the house. I don't wear anything to sleep.

StarlightLady · 05/06/2024 16:36

A slight digression, l wonder if those comfortable sleeping naked (l’m one of them) had a more relaxed attitude to nudity at home when growing up (I’m one of those too!).

UserNumber56 · 05/06/2024 16:37

Yes, I wear pyjamas. But definitely no knickers and no bra underneath!

Floralnomad · 05/06/2024 16:39

Naked for me , husband wears loose boxers . I have a nightdress on a hook so can be in it in seconds if I need to go downstairs / outside for any reason .

piningforautumn · 05/06/2024 16:40

We didn't have a relaxed attitude toward nudity in my home (don't remember ever seeing my mother nude, definitely not my father). No idea how they dress (or not) for bed, now they have their house to themselves. I wear clothes to sleep in, but my sister doesn't.

🤣you beat me there ! I love having some weight but not heat

You do realise that one layer of nightwear isn’t going to stop this sweat and bacteria, it’ll just soak through .
Not that I’m concerned about that myself, I just go for comfort!

wendywoopywoo222 · 05/06/2024 18:58

Always sleep naked unless I'm sharing a room in holiday with a freind but don't sleep so well wearing clothes

Keep a dressing gown next to the bed to put on when I need too. .

I still sleep naked if sharing. It won’t scar anyone for life.

soberfabulous · 06/06/2024 05:59

YANBU I'm always completely naked in bed at night. I one copious amounts of pyjamas but these are loungewear only.

Lulu1919 · 06/06/2024 06:46

100% cotton oversized t shirt n cotton pants
If cold I'd wear cotton loose bottoms too
