Eamonn Holmes -reap what you sow

Just want to say that I love Eamonn Holmes so it's not a bashing thread. Just an observation.

I was thinking about his ex wife and children. He left his young family as his career was more important.
He met (allegedly after they split) this beautiful younger attractive exciting Ruth. Got with her.
But now what does he have? He has ailing health and no wife to be with him in sickness and in health?
Who knows if he had made an effort and put his first family first rather than his career he could have been with someone who would have loved and cared for him in his old age.

It's quite sad.

YABU for saying you “love” Eamonn Holmes. Love is for family, lovers and close friends not people on the telly.

Ok I've changed the term now and said 'like'. Maybe love was too strong a word 👍

How do you know I don't know anything about his first marriage? You're making quite a few assumptions. I'm sure he and Ruth are having a hard time dealing with the split. Why retell it as some some of karmic tale? When you know nothing about what happened. Mystifying

given we don’t know both sides of the story re his first marriage breakdown I will reserve judgment. Being a TV journalist will come with a lot of sacrifices but we don’t know for sure what was going on with his marriage. Life is too short for staying in unhappy relationships. Maybe she is floating, maybe she’s beyond caring given a few decades have passed.

AFAIK..
He left his first wife because she wanted to stay where she felt at home.
Now he wants to return to Belfast and Ruth didn't want to abandon her mother and the place where he felt at home. I have no doubt that there's a lot more to their separation but I don't think we all need to know the gory details. Everyone has flaws.

I actually think your first post is quite distasteful. We know nothing about their relationship and they’ve not released any information, apart from ‘growing apart’. They’ve been very private.

I think he's a great journalist, handsome, funny etc. is that ok for you?

It’s a bit daft to think so simplistically.

Maybe he’s happier outside of an unhappy marriage? Maybe he’s got a new partner? None of us know. It seems odd to me to relish the idea that someone is unhappy because of marriages that ran their course.

She may have decided to divorce him when he developed health problems too!
What makes you think she would be more likely to look after him for longer than Ruth?
