Am I being unreasonable here? I live in a densely populated area with lots of people packed into a smallish space. Every fucking spring as soon as the weather gets warmer some selfish prick keeps one of these burning all night. The smell and fumes travel and every one else if they don’t want their house smelling like a bonfire has to shut every windows regardless of the heat. They should be banned. Plus pollution, etc.

YANBU as they stink. Can't understand why people want a fire when it's warm. Annoying as you can't have the washing hung outside, and have to shut windows so the house doesn't smell - which is great in this weather! Fine if you have no neighbours, really inconsiderate if you do. I don't know how people think it's ok to do this, and what benefit they get from having a fire in the garden???!!!!

Read the post directly above yours. You harm yourself and others.

Read my post. I dont have others

I HATE them! Luckily, the neighbour who used to do this moved. The smoke sets my asthma off, drifts into our bedroom, and makes everything stink. There's no practical use for them, and they're bad for you (even if you don't have an existing lung condition).

I also hate BBQs (also due to the smoke). It's quicker and easier to just cook inside. I acknowledge that at least a BBQ has a purpose, and gas ones create far less smoke. Still don't understand why everyone goes mental for them though

We don’t. There was one across the road from us on Wednesday. People here often have them.

We do in London and no doubt other densely populated urban areas too.

Surprised how many people describe the smell of wood smoke as a " stink".
You might not love it but its hardly a stink.

I love the smell, but acknowledge that it’s personal preference. It’s tricky in a densely populated area. I live far closer than I’d like to many other people. I do prefer the fire pit smell over the chap down the road smoking weed incessantly though. That’s my least favourite anti social summer smell.

I feel the same about wood burners. Stink out the whole district all autumn and winter
