Little acts of rebellion

Sitting in a lovely but overpriced coffee shop today with a friend, and after discussing how overpriced it is, she confessed that when she goes to an overpriced coffee shop, and she thinks it isn't fair, she takes a toilet roll as a little payback. It just really made me laugh. Do any of you have any little acts of rebellion like this? I don't think I have any but I must do.

I hope she doesn't do it independent coffee shops.

That is not an act of rebellion - it is out and out stealing. I don't see why you would laugh, what is amusing about that?

No one is forcing her to go In there, check the prices first.

Ponoka7 · 11/05/2024 17:51

I agree that it isn't a act if rebellion, it's theft. So going forward, extra toilet rolls won't be put in and it'll be a extra job for the staff.

MotherFeministWoman · 11/05/2024 17:52

So who is making her buy over priced coffee?

I mean she could just go to Costa and not steal toilet paper what a tool !

Ponoka7 · 11/05/2024 17:54

However, we had a staff discount card. The company was partly closing down and decided to stop giving the discount. We wasn't told this, I found out as I was paying. The cashier had made a mistake at the till and had to rescan my shopping. I 'forgot' to give her a small item, which was a similar cost to the discount that I should have got.

MonsteraMama · 11/05/2024 17:59

Wild idea, but rather than pointlessly steal and probably just make some underpaid cleaning employee's day a tiny bit more irritating, why not just... Not drink overpriced coffee? Not really sticking it to the man all that much if you're still drinking his bevs are you?

crochetmonkey74 · 11/05/2024 18:01

I found it funny as it's such a petty response rather than thinking "bit overpriced I won't come here again "
She is normally very upstanding too so it was a surprise

I’m laughing at Ponoka’s double standards there

AgathaX · 11/05/2024 18:20

I hope you told your friend she was a thieving scrote.

Yes course I did, I handcuffed her , put her in the back of the car, then done a 2 hour interview on her in a glass room like in Line of Duty

Your friend’s logic and sense of entitlement is baffling.

LauderSyme · 11/05/2024 18:39

To answer your question, I can't think of any acts of rebellion I do, unless not giving the overpriced places my custom counts?

Itsonlymashadow · 11/05/2024 18:42

It’s not an act of rebellion. How does she find herself in coffee shops that she finds over priced on multiple occasions? Can she not look at/ask for the prices before hand? Why does she feel the need to go in there if she thinks it’s over priced?

It’s just being an arse.

FiatEarth · 11/05/2024 18:42

Who the hell touches and takes a big roll from a public toilet? 🤮

Gross.

Why would anyone brag about stealing is beyond me.

I'd hide a mousetrap in your spare bog rolls if she comes round your house.

Your friend is a pathetic cheapskate.

Nope, five finger staff discount.

Agreed. Indie coffee shops are barely scraping a living.

They only make £1 profit on every cup of coffee.

So you might be laughing, OP, but the coffee shop is not.

She's not pathetic.
I don't think she takes the big roll, I assumed she meant when it's a normal size roll. She doesn't have a big handbag so it can't be the big roll surely

A group of us hire a council run hall once a month and one of the staff there is really rude to us for no reason. So the last 2 times she has been rude to us, we've left the equipment untidy so she has to sort it. Lots of people use it so she won't know it's us and when the nice staff are there we leave it immaculate.

I don't think she does do it on multiple occasions, she wouldn't go back if it was overpriced

You've come to the wrong place with this anecdote OP. 😉
