Little acts of rebellion

Sitting in a lovely but overpriced coffee shop today with a friend, and after discussing how overpriced it is, she confessed that when she goes to an overpriced coffee shop, and she thinks it isn't fair, she takes a toilet roll as a little payback. It just really made me laugh. Do any of you have any little acts of rebellion like this? I don't think I have any but I must do.

I was talking about little acts of rebellion with a member of slt last week (our school is going all Micheala about uniform) and we both said that everyone does something rebellious. We both said that was a good thing, but you had to judge it carefully. She has a haircut that looks very staid but she has a radical undercut. She loves it that me, an older member of staff, has multiple ear piercings and wears a very subtle feminist piece of jewellery.(my hair covers my ears and my jewellery is hidden by clothes.)

With many of the responses today I hesitated before posting this one! Eons ago, about 60 years (!), a group of us had Summer jobs in a mill that was used by one of the shopping catalogues and we were on the packing line, orders would be sent in by post (honest), one department would pick the orders and they came to us on a conveyor belt for packing. There were often a few address labels and when the company decided on the Wednesday that they wouldn't need us after Friday we had fun with the extra labels, sending stuff to the wrong people. A retired Colonel got some cheap, red lacey underwear for example. The returns department would have been very busy that month.

She can't read menus or realise how much something costs unti lafter she pays for it, surely that is not a sign of advanced intelligence 😂

You labouring this one point and fixating on it, despite the common sense knowledge that people often end up in overpriced places or places put their prices up without you realising is a much greater sign of being an idiot than my friend.
Also don't forget the man on the thread who did the same, he's an idiot too , I'm sure you just forgot to mention him

Im sure lots of people do petty stupid things like that and feel very smug about it, whether they are men or women. Not sure why you feel like you need to defend the said friend with such conviction, despite them being not being the sharpest tool. Is it a reverse and you were actually writing about yourself?

I went in insert supermarket name a couple of weeks back. Used scan and shop. Filled 2 large bags. Went to complete the purchase, pointed the scanner at the machine and stood there for ages waiting for it to load. It wouldn't load so I alerted the assistant. She strolled over, faffed about for a few minutes, called another assistant over who announced that they have been having issues with scan and shop for a couple of weeks and I would have to rescan all my shopping again. No apology, just walked away. So one by one, I took my items out of my bags and scanned them. Part way through the second bag I got fed up and just paid for what I had scanned , repacked the stuff and buggered off. I got about 10 quids of stuff for free. I'm not sorry, don't care if its theft. If they had known about the issues for 2 weeks they should have got the IT engineers to fix it

You've got me banged to rights. Well done for being so intelligent and having me figured out. Lord, I just wish I wasn't so intellectually challenged like my friend and more clever like what you are

How common 😁

Jealousy darling? I suppose you summer in Sorrento or somewhere similarly distasteful...

CoffeeCantata · 12/05/2024 20:34

No, I don't agree with stealing things!

I live in the countryside and it annoys me that some people sort of annexe the grass verge outside their boundary and mow it so that it looks like lawn. I prefer these areas (which are not private property) to be left with the wildflowers growing.

So when I'm out for a walk I always make a point of walking across them to make the point that they are part of the road, not part of that cheeky so-and-so's garden.

KitchenSinkLlama · 12/05/2024 20:36

Every coffee shop I have been into has a price list. If you don't like the cost go somewhere else. Stealing is wrong and not funny.
