Little acts of rebellion

crochetmonkey74 · 11/05/2024 17:42

Sitting in a lovely but overpriced coffee shop today with a friend, and after discussing how overpriced it is, she confessed that when she goes to an overpriced coffee shop, and she thinks it isn't fair, she takes a toilet roll as a little payback. It just really made me laugh. Do any of you have any little acts of rebellion like this? I don't think I have any but I must do.

Yes course I did, I handcuffed her , put her in the back of the car, then done a 2 hour interview on her in a glass room like in Line of Duty

Did you use all the acronyms? Grin

You AND your friend need a lifelong prison sentence! @crochetmonkey74

Disgraceful human beings. Hmm How can you look yourselves in the mirror?! Angry

#kidding 😂

As for me, I have quite a number of little acts of rebellion stories, but I'm a bit too shy/not brave enough to post them on here. Blush

Nice reading others though! Grin

To all these sanctimonious people claiming 'theft!' And 'think of the poor staff!' ... are you WFHers who steal time from your employers/customers to nip off to do your shopping/laundry/pick the kids up/go to the gym/ take up tables at the library or coffee shop?

Who does that though? I wfh and do my hours (actually I do more as I start an hour earlier cause I can as I am not commuting). As do 99% of fellow wfh-ers. Just cause you are not able to wfh, no need to tar us all with your cheating standards.

Posts on here have suggested it as well as real life examples. WFH folk will never admit it which explains the vitriol when it’s suggested that they spend an a tea day or two in the workplace.

In a house share I lived in, I was the only one who ever put the bins out. I would frequently have weekends away, would come back to an overflowing bin/pushed down bin that had been ignored by everyone. They clearly saw it as not their job to deal with.

My small act of rebellion was when I left this house share, I bought the cheapest crappiest bin bags I could find and left them in the cupboard. House mates later complained about them so I know they really hated all the subsequent bin changes they had to do 😂 #sorrynotsorry

I loved Minimilli's post. Really made me smile. It reminds me of when my ex used to leave dirty socks on the floor rather than the laundry basket. I used to put them in various places to annoy him - jacket pockets and hoods, stuffed in toe of shoes, in his briefcase (he discovered that pair while talking to the bank manager about a loan), inside his guitar and clarinet. I used to snigger to myself doing it.

About 50 years ago my dad and I stopped at a motorway station for a cup of tea. He was so annoyed at the price he stole the small teapot.

VeraForever · 11/05/2024 21:56

Apologies.. ‘a day or two.’

Judellie · 11/05/2024 21:57

If dh annoys me I give him a pink pillowcase. Not that he's ever noticed.
I did also once move a book by OJ(autobiography?) to the bottom shelf behind lots of other books in a bookshop somewhere because I can't stand him.

Maybe cut off her bum would be a more fitting punishment

🤣🤣🤣🤣😭 I needed that

SuperSharpShooter · 11/05/2024 22:03

Some uptight types in here tonight OP. 🤷

I do the coffee/tea teaspoon thing for those who JUST KNOW and can taste it, idiots.
Also make a brew in what ever order is most convenient, if that's milk then water and a tea bag thrown in in top, so what. Squeeze the bag enough, perfect brew. Again, no one ever knows or can tell the difference 🤷

If I can get away with it, in Supermarkets/Spar etc I turn a whole pile of The Sun over so they can't be seen. If a few less are sold that day, job done 😂

This is so cute. Nicking the tiny teapot in simmering rage. So British!

I used to work as a translator for a company that was most poorly-run place ever, to the point of being criminal (loads of employees sued and even denounced them to the authorities). They were awful.

My tiny revenge was sprinkling my translations with words or phrases that were 100% correct, but would sound a little bit naff or dated to native ears. Ridiculous I know. No one ever read my language anyways, they just had to have it as a formality.

KarlaKK · 11/05/2024 22:11

He was bloody annoyed at the price 😂I remember it even now - and his glee at getting them back. Same as your friend.

Bushtika · 11/05/2024 22:27

I have been on MN a long time. Anyone else remember a thread like this one about acts of revenge/ rebellion and one of the horrible, 'it's such a laugh' contributions was from a poster who was annoyed by her neighbour's dog. Next time she went on a long journey, she kidnapped the dog and let it out of her car twenty miles down the motorway. She was laughing so hard at her little act of rebellion that she didn't reveal whether the dog had been killed on the motorway.
I really hate spitefulness and cruelty in any form. Some posters think it is such a laugh. It makes me upset.
Anyone else remember the very sad dog story?

Well that is actually fucking vile. I don't see how or why anyone would laugh at that.

Barbaraaaa · 11/05/2024 23:17

I used to work in the same office as my boss' mum. She acted like she was the boss and made the rest of us make her numerous cups of tea. When it was my turn I always licked the teabag first :)

LakeTiticaca · 11/05/2024 23:23

I haven't been on MN long enough to know about the kidnapped dog but I'm horrified that someone could do something so horrible and laugh about it.
I hate animal abusers

Bushtika · 11/05/2024 23:27

It's a true post from a thread. Lots of posters protested but MN mods did not take it down.
At least one poster remembered the user name from that thread.

AlexaPlaySomeHappyHardcore · 11/05/2024 23:35

I work in a convenience store. Will happily pack customers shopping if they want, really don’t mind. But if they’re rude to me I give their bread a big squeeze as I pack or put their yogurt in upside down or something. They really piss me off and the eggs end up under the beer/other heavy item. Fuck ‘em.

crackofdoom · 11/05/2024 23:56

Lake Titicaca an appropriate remuneration for your time, I'd say.

I never met my Great Aunt Florrie, but apparently if she considered the drinks in a pub overpriced she'd be off with the glasses. This had to be 1950s at the latest. Given my painfully bland and conformist upbringing, she definitely stands out as the family rebel.

That was a fella. He didn't like the reception he got and left.

You read a post by a lady who was telling us about her silly and petty revenge battle with her husband. She wrote it in a tone that suggests they both sort of enjoy it, in its silliness

Absolutely just silliness enjoyed by both of us.

I read your post as exactly the same and can’t believe anyone is taking it so seriously, my best friend is a police officer and I showed her this post and she said laughed. I’ve heard a lot of stories from this friend about similar tales that people actually call the police over so I’m not surprised about some of the reactions on here.

My fave ever story was a man who promised a new girlfriend a Sunday roast when she was staying at his house. He bought everything then told her the night before he was expecting her to cook it the next day and his mother was joining them so she needed to “impress her”
His girlfriend was not amused and after a row she stormed out but took the chicken and trimmings as she said she had been promised that roast and was taking it.
The man actually called 999 to report a robbery and made it sound like he’d actually been physically robbed, he only backed down when he was warned of wasting police time.

I was expecting similar stories when I opened this thread, now I’m starting to realise there are a few people who take the law far more seriously then the actual police do! 😂

If DH and I have a petty squabble or he has annoyed me then I draw something silly and rude at the bottom of the shower or give him the slightly smaller portion of food.

I will be taking note of this, thank you!

Haha your dad! That's brilliant 👏

Friend , got so annoyed when her DH left his dirty socks on the floor she made up his lunchbox as usual and when he took out his sandwich, he was greeted with a dirty sock sandwich! 🤣

He never left his dirty socks on the floor again!
