Cousin stole my baby's name

AIBU to be over the moon?

My DS2 14 is Henry (not real name)

Cousin had first much longed for baby this morning and they have named him Henry.

Henry is delighted and can't wait for them to be known as Big Henry and Little Henry

No one owns a name.

If "Henry" is cool with it then what's the issue?

marmitegirl01 · 10/05/2024 13:09

That's so cute.
Big Henry sounds like he's gonna be a fab big cousin!

Oh sleep deprivation is a killer. Good luck to Little Henry's new parents 😜

I LOVE this!!! 💖💖💖

So happy the little man is joining such an awesome family.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/05/2024 13:12

Weird to start an AIBU when nothing U has happened 🤷‍♀️

RomeoMcFlourish · 10/05/2024 13:12

Agree.

DH and I both have family members with the same name and know who is being referred to easily.

Mothership4two · 10/05/2024 13:14

We have lots of Bigs* *and Littles on my Mum'side of the family usually uncles and nephews, but also cousins and one dad and son which they now regret. My son was named after my grandad and I was named after my Nana as was another cousin and a second cousin.

LauderSyme · 10/05/2024 13:15

There's a twist I didn't expect! Hurrah for your happy family 🤗

piglet81 · 10/05/2024 13:17

Lovely. I have a Little cousin - we have different official names but both go by the same shortening. I like the connection!

Londonrach1 · 10/05/2024 13:18

Love this...big harry and little Harry ..great bonding for that. Great idea of your sister.

Rustycheeks · 10/05/2024 13:19

OK, your post really confused me for a minute. I couldn't work out if you didn't know what over the moon actually meant, or if you mean to say you weren't over the moon. The title knocked me off from the start.

catin8oots · 10/05/2024 13:22

Sorry for the confusion. Just wanted a positive name post for once about shared/'stolen' names as so often seen on here!

That's so sweet!

Mousielane · 10/05/2024 13:26

So sweet OP. I'd be very flattered if someone used my DC's name for sure.

Topseyt123 · 10/05/2024 13:32

It's lovely for both of the Henrys. 😃

ForensicFlossy · 10/05/2024 13:33

I love this, it has made me smile

CurlewKate · 10/05/2024 13:34

My DS was named after his grandfather. They were Big Pat and Little Pat.they both loved it.

Onetiredbeing · 10/05/2024 13:36

Ah precious. It's a good thing, it means that Big Henry is a lovely child that he has made an impression on the parents enough that they would love little Henry to be a bit like BH. I would take that as a huge compliment.

ZipZapZoom · 10/05/2024 13:39

Oh that's lovely! I bet Little Henry will grow up desperate to be as awesome as Big Henry and I'm sure Big Henry will be bestotted with his small namesake.

LightSpeeds · 10/05/2024 13:40

I love it too. Brill 🥳

BreakfastAtMimis · 10/05/2024 13:42

I'm glad everyone's happy but unless Henry is a family name it's a weird thing for your cousin to do. Her poor kid should have got his own name!

RitaIncognita · 10/05/2024 13:43

We have a Big [Name] and a Little [Name] in our family too. It has always been lovely, except for the fact that Little [Name] grew up to be 6'5" and Big [Name] is quite a bit shorter, and we still call them Big and Little.
