Cousin stole my baby's name

catin8oots · 10/05/2024 13:06

AIBU to be over the moon?

My DS2 14 is Henry (not real name)

Cousin had first much longed for baby this morning and they have named him Henry.

Henry is delighted and can't wait for them to be known as Big Henry and Little Henry

What has The Hoover said about all this? If he's upset he'll just have to suck it up.

👏

No one owns a name.

If "Henry" is cool with it then what's the issue?

You’re not reading the tone

Lanawashington · 10/05/2024 15:27

I've noticed so many people clearly don't bother to read longer ops and just say whatever they think even when it's not relevant. But come on, this post is 4 sentences and people still can't be bothered to read it properly!

TypeFace · 10/05/2024 14:27

She hasn't stolen a name . Ffs I've got three cousins with the same name as me and various other relatives with the same names !

Did you just not bother to read the OP or do you have the comprehension skills of a 7 year old?

SingingSands · 10/05/2024 15:42

Ahh that's so lovely! 🥰

Big Henry must be buzzing

SquigglePigs · 10/05/2024 15:43

Awwww, that's really sweet. So lovely that your son is excited about it.

I had one of my cousin's names on my shortlist for a girl and a different one for a boy. We didn't go with either in the end but I hope we would have had a similar reaction (and I would have discussed it with them first).

SweetFemaleAttitude · 10/05/2024 15:43

I'm part of a big and a little with my niece.

I love it.

We still get called 'big sweet' and 'little sweet'. I'm nearly 50 and she's nearly 30 🤣🤣.

No one owns a name. Best to just smile.

Or to read the post and the room. It's a tongue in cheek thread and OP os thrilled

Omg your Mom stole EVERYONES name?? Chill Type, ops clearly posted a tongue in cheek happy post.

User236792 · 10/05/2024 16:03

I’m actually wishing I had done this…!

WilliamButt · 10/05/2024 16:08

Aw that's nice! My daughter has almost exactly the same name as her cousin (my sister's daughter) and no one minds at all. We copied them as we literally could not think of another name we both liked.

LakeTiticaca · 10/05/2024 16:18

Brilliant!! Big Henry should quite rightly be proud 😁😁

potato57 · 10/05/2024 17:29

My partner and my nephew have the same name and no one would call them "big" and "little". Cringing just thinking about it tbh. It's like calling him Trevor Junior.

Sunnyday777 · 10/05/2024 17:32

I think little Henry has a friend for life with big Henry! How lovely 😊

Weird to start an AIBU when nothing U has happened 🤷‍♀️

Snore.

How refreshing!

It always confuses me when people say someone has stolen ‘their’ baby name. You don’t own a trademark over the name! 😂 would you say someone had stolen your shoes if they went and got the same ones from M&S? Would you say someone has stolen your car if they chose the same one? Just use the bloody name!

Edited

You have clearly missed the thousands of threads on here where people kick off over their names being 'stolen'

The OP is having a bit of fun

@BirthdayRainbow you obviously didn't read the next comment I made .. which was also less than 50 words Wink

I pressed post instead of what I meant and have corrected myself

SabreIsMyFave · 10/05/2024 18:33

Big Henry and Little Henry.

What if Henry the 1st (Big Henry) ends up being 4-6" shorter and much smaller than 'Little Henry?' He will be Little Henry then and it will just cause so much confusion! 😖

Did you even stop to think this through? OMG @catin8oots Wot R U like?!

😆

#Kidding Cute names, Nice thread. Smile

MrsToothyBitch · 10/05/2024 18:34

Nice that your son likes it and yes, no one owns a name, but I hated it when someone across the family reused my name so I get where you're coming from. My cousin has used Thomas; I don't want to use it at all now because of that.

Excellent news! I love cheerful stuff ❤

My eldest dc has a family name too, he was "wee jack" until puberty hit, he grew like a weed and he overnight became jack the tank 🤣
