Anyone got a link to it? 😂 I can't find it

OP posts:
LeaveTheClocksAlone · 21/04/2024 20:40

It wasn't even funny so I wouldn't worry

Queenofwistfulthinking · 21/04/2024 20:47

Nah I couldn't get the hilarity of it either.

DiscoBeat · 21/04/2024 20:50

I haven't seen it and not been interested to look but I find this obsession so odd!

Rosestulips · 21/04/2024 20:51

Eh?

Nope not funny at all

FuzzyWuzzyWuzABear · 21/04/2024 21:04

It'll be somewhere in classics amongst all the other massively embellished threads.

kaben · 21/04/2024 21:08

It is funny.

It's a fairly run of the mill post with a woman's bf being embarrassing and then in the middle of a paragraph, it says "so I snapped and farted"

ok, I can see she snapped as she was cross with him, but the farted bit was really bizarrely placed and was funny, especially as you don't really fart when you are having a disagreement. The first comment nailed it by quoting that small phrase out of the original OP

gojumpjump · 21/04/2024 21:10

Just me that found it funny then 😂

moonlitmaze · 21/04/2024 21:13

I'm not sure which annoys me the most, unfunny posts like 'snapped and farted' or posters saying 'The first comment nailed it'

PeatandDieselfan · 21/04/2024 21:15

but the farted bit was really bizarrely placed and was funny, especially as you don't really fart when you are having a disagreement

Yeah I remember laughing out loud, it just was so unexpected, even though you knew it had to be a typo, it sounded like she could fart at will and didn't consider it to be an unusual thing to admit to.

I never understood the hilarity, what was it a typo for.?

tortiecat · 21/04/2024 21:16

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not just the OP but the responses too. Some hilarious people on here.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 21/04/2024 21:18

I was very fond of the parking wars thread with the giant Olaf
Snapped and farted was funnier for the responses than the OP

BreakfastAtMilliways · 21/04/2024 21:19

I think you had to be there at the time. Also some ‘classics’ just turn into catchphrase/in-joke comedy over the years and if you don’t get it, you don’t get it.

Aswellisnotoneword · 21/04/2024 21:24

It was an interesting read when I happened to come across it the day it was posted and just saw the phrase casually thrown in there. Just, WTF?

I too assumed it was a typo and from memory it was quite a wait for the OP to come back and explain what she really meant... except that when she did, she doubled down and said she had IBS or similar and had indeed farted.

Just so very strange. I don't think it'd be worth the read if you've already been hyped up about it though.

PeatandDieselfan · 21/04/2024 21:25

what was it a typo for.?

Exactly! What was she on about? That's what was funny. And the responses. But obviously we don't all the same sense humour!

uhOhOP · 21/04/2024 21:30

It took not even 24 hours for Mumsnet to say the thread would be moved to Classics. I've just read a bit of the thread, mostly the OP's posts... It's not terribly funny. It is funny, just not, you know, that funny.

Starbugg · 21/04/2024 21:32

Not funny at all. I don’t understand why it’s so popular.

ButterflyKu · 21/04/2024 21:33

It’s not dying with laughter funny. However, the reason why I found it funny is the fact that OP came back to clarify that she had IBS and had indeed farted. If I remember correctly, she didn’t even seem to find it funny herself which was even more confusing.

I just think it’s funny that someone can say ‘I snapped and farted’ and carried on with the sentence like it was entirely normal😂 people are strange!

ButterflyKu · 21/04/2024 21:35

I’ve just had a read through it again😂😂 it’s the fact that the OP just carried on with her mundane story and came back with updates. She really didn’t understand why everyone was commenting on that particular bit. Bless her, I wonder how she’s doing

Chickenwing2 · 21/04/2024 21:48

It made me laugh out loud. Explaining to DH why I'm laughing made me sound very silly though Grin

shuffleofftobuffalo · 21/04/2024 21:51

It also made me laugh out loud at the time but it's not OMG funniest thing ever. In the moment it was funny that she'd made an apparent typo and she came back with a deadly serious explanation for the farting.

BluLagoon · 21/04/2024 21:54

You may have snapped and farted but I much prefer screaming at the Sistine Chapel.
