Travelling home from holiday last week and these were the prices at the airport McDonalds!

22 Euros for a double Big Mac meal!

Anyone want to guess which airport? And is there a more expensive McDonald’s out there?

Fulfil a basic human need? That's a bit dramatic
Its a 4.5 hr flight that you can take your own food and snacks.
Literally millions of people go on holiday without having to buy airport food

Am I the only person who would rather go hungry than pay £50 for Maccies?!

I dont care how much money I hypothetically have in that situation I am not going to spend that much on their crap food. Its only saving grace (and yes we did used to have it too fairly often) was it was cheap!

I'd rather go hungry than spend 50p on one!

I used to get a Maccy craving approx once a year. It would last ages, until I had a Maccy, which always left me feeling slightly nauseous and put me off for another year or so.

The last time I had one, approx 6 years ago, it just tasted vile, I couldn't finish it and I've never had that craving since.

McDonald's in Milan (in the very posh shopping arcade, the name of which escapes me) is amazing. They do mini calzone pizza things, and there's also an area upstairs like a patisserie with coffee in glass cups and very nice cakes served on china plates with cake forks. And I don't remember it being expensive at all.

The Galleria?

And those little calzone, if you go downstairs and around the corner, there's a shop that only sells them and they are one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted.

RichardsGear · 18/04/2024 14:44

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - that's the one! (I didn't have to Google that, honest! 😉) I'll remember the tip about the place round the corner if we ever go again, thank you.

NotAgainBrian · 18/04/2024 14:45

Oh I had a feeling that would be Dalaman as soon as I saw the prices. It's insane isn't it!

youngestisapsycho · 18/04/2024 15:08

There was another food outlet at Dalaman where we got a large pizza slice, wedges and a drink for £8.50.

That happens to me.
Just randomly fancy one every so often so have one and so then remember why I never have one.

I was going to say Antalya - Not far off - Flip me kids ate at the airport for the price of gourmet meal - Ridiculous. When everything else is so cheap in Turkey you would wonder why airport food is soo expensive.

MonderMomen77 · 19/04/2024 19:12

Looks similar to the Mallorcan airport prices, plus the cheeky fuckers don't bother with fish or veggie options!

You’re not alone!

Me too !

cremebrulait · 19/04/2024 20:55

The cost of getting food into the airport and the cost of leasing the space is likely the driver. Some airports make use these high costs to fund airport operations etc. Thats for example why budget airlines run out of airports like Luton because the whole airport is no frills

Yes. Firstly they all show up in green, and also if you go to the original post you click on "see all" and there they are :)

Geneva.

Goodtogossip · 24/04/2024 16:22

We've just paid £20.90 for a small glass of wine at a North East Airport. It was rank as well.

WibblyWobblyWeeble · 25/04/2024 01:04

Ouch.
I thought £15 in a London theatre was bad, and it tasted like boot polish.

Cripes. I paid less than that in St Tropez (most expensive place I’ve had a glass of wine.

pambeesleyhalpert · 25/04/2024 16:35

Why is Dalaman so expensive? I thought turkey was cheap? Not heard of it before!

FlipFlop1987 · 25/04/2024 21:41

Yep Turkey is one of the cheapest countries for a package holiday, very reasonable when you’re there but have the most ridiculous airport costs. Dalaman, Bodrum, Antalya, all the same. They are also insanely hot so you need to buy drinks. We go next week and it’s our seventh time in 9 years though so we obviously think it’s worth it, just load up on AI before you get on the coach!

Did it come with a free orgasm?! Wow I am willing to pay for a decent glass of wine but they could keep that!

"No thank you, pour it back in the bucket you got it from!"

So Russia is the place to go. Or Brighton.
