Travelling home from holiday last week and these were the prices at the airport McDonalds!

22 Euros for a double Big Mac meal!

Anyone want to guess which airport? And is there a more expensive McDonald’s out there?

About 7-8 years ago a Big Mac meal in Geneva was the equivalent of 12 euro and not even at the airport . So that’s the most expensive one I I’ve encountered.

Switzerland don't use Euros.

Places like Switzerland that are visited by many EU visitors will price in Euros, this would particularly be the case for airports. The price for food in Zurich is very high, so it could be Switzerland.

Also Switzerland has 3 languages but the language used is English. Perfectly standard for airports, so that gives us no clue.

NobbyNobbs · 18/04/2024 06:29

Am I the only daft one that assumes that McDonalds prices were fairly similar, no matter where you travelled?!🙈

Duckinglunacy · 18/04/2024 06:33

I checked the price list at McD in Bergen a few months ago and I seem to remember it was around £15/meal

Nope Hong Kong airport McDonalds is!

Really? That surprises me because McDonald’s in HK is unbelievably cheap- way cheaper than UK. They must really hike the prices at the airport.

Sgtmajormummy · 18/04/2024 06:43

Those prices are only about €1 more than the prices in our local Italian city branch.
Malta?

Cheepcheepcheep · 18/04/2024 06:47

The most expensive fast food meal I’ve ever had is at Dalaman, as many others have said, but I would guess the above is Amsterdam Schiphol.

I was at Zurich airport last year though and paid nearly £20 for a pret sandwich and a coffee, which felt mildly insane (was very pleased I was travelling for work so could expense it!)

Simplepink · 18/04/2024 06:51

Pretty certain Zurich has one of the most expensive Maccies so would imagine Zurich airport would be even more so

TwirlyWhirlie · 18/04/2024 06:51

I was tempted to say Iceland but then remembered that they don’t use the euro. It was so bloody expensive when we went. I reckon it was Finland.

Beefcurtains79 · 18/04/2024 06:52

Are you going to tell us OP?

Edited

Iceland also doesn't have McD's any more.

Wigtopia · 18/04/2024 07:10

finland

Mia184 · 18/04/2024 07:13

Frankfurt?

BarryKentPoet · 18/04/2024 07:15

Dalaman airport was eye-watering prices too.

EasternEcho · 18/04/2024 07:15

I think its Dalaman too.

lezsucks · 18/04/2024 07:20

It’s not schipol! I felt robbed the other night paying 15 euros for a Big Mac meal but it appears I got a bargain. 😂

Definitely not Iceland then. We went in 2018 and ended up having a Domino’s one day but even that was blooming expensive!

StarlightLady · 18/04/2024 07:27

Maybe Singapore?

But that’s a good thing because there are so many great places to eat there.

youngestisapsycho · 18/04/2024 07:27

It’s Dalaman. I was there on Saturday. Couldn’t believe how many people were buying it! There were other food options.

AnImaginaryCat · 18/04/2024 07:30

If the OP doesn't come back and tell us, the only sensible solution is each of us travels to a different airport in the Euro zone and check the price.

We can exclude Schipol seeing @lezsucks has done that recently, the rest we can divvy out between ourselves.

IHateLegDay · 18/04/2024 07:31

I have to know where it is 😂

Happyorchidlady · 18/04/2024 07:33

That has to be Dalaman. The only airport I’ve been to that made Dubai look cheap.

LittleGlowingOblong · 18/04/2024 07:33

Feeling really ignorant because I had to look Dalaman up on the map!

WittiestUsernameEver · 18/04/2024 07:34

Zurich is the most expensive
