Taylor Swift tickets.. help me avoid being scammed again?!

Id02242730 · 17/04/2024 10:50

So desperate for tickets that I have already been scammed by a very clever and genuine fraudster. She wanted £130 per ticket and I needed 4. Provided plenty proof of tickets including seat numbers. Of course I’ve never done this before and fell for it hook, line and sinker. I immediately detected rat and contacted bank.. didn’t get through for an age and by this time she had deleted all her messages. As such, this meant my evidence was limited so i had all my messages but hers were just showing deleted message. Obvious what had happened but according to bank and fraud uk, not enough to get my money back.
so I’ve now been looking a viagogo.. is anything legitimate?
Considering paying silly money if I have a guarantee.
what’s the chances realistically?

Her tickets are like gold dust which unfortunately does bring clever scams with it! I am sorry this happened to you as soe of these people are very clever in the way they do it.

Realistically your best options is resale through official ticket platforms but this is hard.

She is performing in many different European cities over summer so might be worth looking at that if possible. Hotels and air bnbs will skyrocket for the dates she's in cities though so be prepared!

Although she has done her USA tour, her new album will be dropping so many US fans may also be after tickets for her summer European tour so even more competition!

Good luck and I hope you manage it l, I'm sure some posters will have some good advice on how it might be possible but do not buy from online groups or people Directly as too much chances for scams!

You are definitely not the only person that will be scammed with this and unfortunately on the days she is performing we will be seeing articles about people who did get scammed and couldn't get into the stadiums and arena s!

TeenLifeMum · 17/04/2024 11:07

Use ticket master resales. It’s the only reliable option.

Bellaboo01 · 17/04/2024 11:07

Honestly - don't bother now as we all booked a year ago. You might be scammed unfortunately.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 17/04/2024 11:11

Anything other than the official Ticketmaster and AXS resales have a high likelihood of being a scam and you have no way of telling the scammer from the regular scalper.

You can keep trying with the official resale but your best bet is to accept you aren't going, honestly.

As hopefully helpful info - I have AXS tickets and they are not able to be transferred yet, so anyone saying they can transfer axs held tickets to you already is fibbing. They won't be available to transfer until much nearer the date (to try to prevent scammers).

Bramshott · 17/04/2024 11:30

So you've already been scammed out of over £500 and are considering throwing more money at this?!? Surely it's not THAT important to see TS live?!

Id02242730 · 17/04/2024 11:56

Thanks for the helpful comments 😊
Some not so… always puzzles me why people can be bothered replying with negative comments.
Yes I’ve been scammed, yes it’s important to the kids so I’m prepared to pay to try and get tickets. I did register and try a year ago bellaboo01 but only option was to buy vip (which in hindsight I should’ve done). Hence now the constant monitoring of what’s out there, but it’s changed so much!
I understand why ticketmaster have these strict guidelines to deter scammers but last year I sold killers tickets as couldn’t attend and there was a vast amount of interest but such a faff to transfer. Finally managed it but this is my only gig experience since kids born.
Seeing Taylor for my kids would be dream come true, as with most other fans, so given they won’t be this age and be able to experience this again in our home city, I’m going to keep trying🤞

Go through official channels. Have you looked at the concerts in France, there were some that still had availability and flight/Eurostar and hotel is likely to work out cheaper than any tickets you'll get in the uk

toastofthetown · 17/04/2024 12:04

The only way to make sure you aren’t scammed is through the official resale sites (Ticketmaster and AXS). Tickets haven’t been released yet, and won’t be until much nearer the time, so there can be no guarantees you won’t be scammed if purchasing tickets outside of the official resale sites, or a very trusted friend. Tickets do come up, but you need to be on there as soon as they are released because the tickets are so sought after. You need to be checking as often as possible and hope luck is on your side. Unfortunately, demand massively outstrips supply, so a lot of tickets won’t ever reach the resale site. If I couldn’t go, there are so many people I could sell my ticket to, before it would make the resale site, and I image many people are in the same boat.

SquashPenguin · 17/04/2024 12:11

Do NOT use Viagogo.

Id02242730 · 17/04/2024 12:16

Yes I get it I really do toastofthetown.
I guess just trying to remain hopeful, not get scammed and you never know.

squashpenguin i was told viagogo have a guarantee of refund if tix not valid?
i know that wouldn’t help if we were turned away upon entry (prob the worst) but I was under the impression they are secure?

I really don’t know how the banks can’t trace the scammers if we have their name and bank account number… and the seat they’ve got booked 😡

As per above you could wait and see if there are any resale going in Ticketmaster etc. closer to the dates. They usually don't allow people to add mad mark ups though so people wanting to make money from their tickets might not bother with the legit route. That's the only way to be sure they are real now.

Otherwise some travel firms had packages for Europe shows but they're really not cheap. I know you weren't keen. If it was a choice of that or not going then I'd be less bothered about where I saw her myself. Travelpack had some France tickets for sale last week for example.

Stressedoutforever · 17/04/2024 12:23

We got resale ones on ticketmaster, that is the only legitimate way I'm afraid!

Schoolhelp23 · 17/04/2024 12:25

@Stressedoutforever Do you know if there's a particular time etc the resale ones are made available?

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/04/2024 12:28

Can you really not get your money back via bank or whatnot OP? Did you contact the police?

I'd love tickets but I'm not touching any with a barge pole unless it's Ticketmaster resale nearer the time as she's coming to my city and even then I'm not holding out much hope.

Liv999 · 17/04/2024 13:11

I'm desperately trying for tickets too for myself and my daughter, we're in Ireland and I doubt I'll get any for Dublin, been looking at viagogo and there's tickets available in almost every UK city, is this a scam?

Notalazysoso · 17/04/2024 13:15

The only valid resale tickets are through AXS or ticket master.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/04/2024 13:20

I think you need to break it to your DC that they will very likely not be going. I don't think your chances are high at all

AnxiousRabbit · 17/04/2024 13:31

130 was the price of ours....and they are NOT great seats.
But although official resale is open I don't think ticket transfer is open. So any sale outside official ticketmaster/axs won't be possible to get your tickets yet.

Stressedoutforever · 17/04/2024 13:31

Schoolhelp23 · 17/04/2024 12:25

I don't I'm afraid! I think it was just luck when my sister logged on

They may not necessarily all be scams. A handful of people might have lucked out and gotten tickets for £150 each and now seeing $$$$ fancy making a profit over going to show. Or only ever needed two but bought four always intending to sell the extras for profit. However Ticketmaster and AXS are the only offical resale platform and they have said in their FAQ that they will invalidate any ticket sold on an unofficial resale site (such as viagogo) whether they actually will remains to be seen. But there is a risk of the tickets being cancelled even if you did buy from a legitimate seller if it’s anywhere other than offical channel.

I have. But we live in hope and as previously mentioned, I’m not giving up.

also this from @CaptainCarrotsBigSword it's the same for Ticketmaster, so anyone who says they will transfer tickets any time soon is a big red flag. This is how the tickets appear in my account, as you can see transfer is not available and the barcodes will not be functional until 3 days before. The "Sell" button will upload them to the general resale platform, not allow to to choose a specific individual. So if I wanted to sell these to a friend the most I could do for now would be to give them my word and forward my booking confirmation to prove that I bought them in the first place. They would have to trust me until I could transfer, which might not be possible until 3 days before!

I get that you really want this for your kids but I am a grown adult and if I got to the ticket barrier only to be turned away I would be genuinely devastated and probably in floods of tears, so much worse than accepting I missed out on tickets this tour. It wouldn't matter to be viagogo would reimburse me.

Taylor Swift tickets.. help me avoid being scammed again?!
Sammysquiz · 17/04/2024 14:21

You just need to keep checking AXS and Ticketmaster. Resale tickets do appear on them both, but you just need to be lucky with timings as they sell instantly.

Viagogo and Stubhub refund you if the tickets aren’t genuine, but you won’t find that out til you’re at the stadium standing outside with devastated children, so don’t risk it!

Was advised to report to action fraud, which I did almost immediately.
they finally came back to me with a note stating that although my evidence was sent enough it’s help them build evidence to avoid future fraudulent transactions.
I am complaining to ombudsman as to be fair, if I had been able to speak to my bank straight away I probably would have been able to screenshot most of her messages. As such I watched her slowly deleted all hers wondering what on Earth was going on!
bloomin professional scavengers. Of course I knew there was a risk when I paid the money and I was desperate but I foolishly thought if the name matched the bank account details they could track her.
it would appear it’s easier to fleece people than I imagined!
Its got my blood boiling again!
