Taylor Swift tickets.. help me avoid being scammed again?!

Id02242730 · 17/04/2024 10:50

So desperate for tickets that I have already been scammed by a very clever and genuine fraudster. She wanted £130 per ticket and I needed 4. Provided plenty proof of tickets including seat numbers. Of course I’ve never done this before and fell for it hook, line and sinker. I immediately detected rat and contacted bank.. didn’t get through for an age and by this time she had deleted all her messages. As such, this meant my evidence was limited so i had all my messages but hers were just showing deleted message. Obvious what had happened but according to bank and fraud uk, not enough to get my money back.
so I’ve now been looking a viagogo.. is anything legitimate?
Considering paying silly money if I have a guarantee.
what’s the chances realistically?

There are tons of fb scams. OP the person who you think scammed wasn’t probably the real scammer. Scammers can duplicate or hack profiles so they look real. Sorry this has happened to you!

Probably. And yes I see them constantly now and think 🤬

It disgraceful that Facebook don't do anything about it. Many of the scam posts are extremely similar so I don't believe with Facebooks technology they can't do anything.

I also don't understand why they aren't forced to do something about it. They are making life so easy for the scammers.

You need an access code though.

You don’t for the resale. The codes were for the original ticket sales, you don’t need a code for the resale tickets on AXS/Ticketmaster.

InfiniteGoodVibes · 17/04/2024 15:22

I think listening to TS songs at every waking moment when my daughter home forced me to do crazy things!

I completely understand and empathise @Id02242730 , I went through it 2 years ago trying to get tickets to see Billie Eilish. I was successful in the end though concert was in Amsterdam and we spent a small fortune. But I would do it all over again to see my dds' awe and unbridled pleasure at getting to see her live.

I hope you manage to get tickets. Fingers crossed for you x

Thanks for the helpful comments 😊
Some not so… always puzzles me why people can be bothered replying with negative comments.
Yes I’ve been scammed, yes it’s important to the kids so I’m prepared to pay to try and get tickets. I did register and try a year ago bellaboo01 but only option was to buy vip (which in hindsight I should’ve done). Hence now the constant monitoring of what’s out there, but it’s changed so much!
I understand why ticketmaster have these strict guidelines to deter scammers but last year I sold killers tickets as couldn’t attend and there was a vast amount of interest but such a faff to transfer. Finally managed it but this is my only gig experience since kids born.
Seeing Taylor for my kids would be dream come true, as with most other fans, so given they won’t be this age and be able to experience this again in our home city, I’m going to keep trying🤞

You sound like a scammers dream!

BombBiggleton · 17/04/2024 15:32

Pound to a pinch of snuff the OP gets scamming DM's for people on this site now.

OP, read the article posted above - you are a scammers dream.

This would be a great opportunity to teach your kids about what's realistic. You haven't so far and it's cost you £500.

You are no different to millions of other families with Taylor Swift daft kids. I have never known anything like the popularity she has at the moment, even with Bros , Take That and One Direction! .

The best we did for our DC was to take them to one of those cinema screenings of the Eras tour when they got memorabilia and could sing along with their mates.

OneFrenchEgg · 17/04/2024 15:42

I just had a look on Ticketmaster and there's availability for eg Wembley but you have to unlock - where is the open access resale site?

WelshNerd · 17/04/2024 15:42

I've just gone to Ticketmaster and some dates are still asking for an unlock code.

LlynTegid · 17/04/2024 15:44

I understand it is difficult, perhaps you may have to miss out. Better that than being scammed again.

Taylor Swift I am sure will be performing for many years to come, barring ill health or tragedy.

Guilty as charged. But if I get tickets genuinely will be worth all the hassle. And sure I will get DMs etc but once bitten 😉

I just saw the same. So how can people without a code get genuine resale tickets?

SparkyBlue · 17/04/2024 16:15

OP just look at it logically. Everyone seems to want tickets. I have three of them but if for some reason I couldn't go I wouldn't need to have to try to sell them to strangers. I'd be able to sell them in a second if I mentioned outside the school gates I needed to get rid of three tickets (DDs teacher is looking for tickets and mentioned several staff also looking) or DH would have work colleagues wanting them so I'd easily pass them on to someone I know and trust and they know and trust me and I imagine it's the same with most people so all the online sellers will be scammers

Peclet · 17/04/2024 16:25

The best way to sniff out the scammer with the tix is to say you’ll meet them in person to transfer the tickets on to your ticket master account.

It’s weird because I’ve been checking Ticketmaster for weeks, and it’s only now it’s coming up with the necessity to ‘unlock’, usually it just searches the resale and says there’s no availability. Something to do with the new album perhaps? Are there new codes being released for people who pre-ordered that?

Singleandproud · 17/04/2024 16:46

@Sammysquiz I hope so. I'm secretly hoping the album will come with a couple of tickets tucked inside - but I'm pretty sure they won't.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 17/04/2024 16:55

Another hopefully helpful FYI - you can't screenshot the tickets in AXS. It blanks it out automatically, you just get a black screen. So anyone sending you screenshots of the tickets as proof is bullshitting too. You can only screenshot the front page, not the tickets themselves.

FreeTheBeast · 17/04/2024 17:09

I'll post that on the Mumsnet Taylor Swift ticket swap page and see if it gets through to people.

I don't think it will though 🫣

I'm sorry OP, I really don't mean to rub salt in the world but it amazing that people are still falling for this type of scam. There has been so much publicity for it.

Elebag · 17/04/2024 17:11

You only go through AXS or ticketmaster. That's how. I check all the time.

I've been doing the same. Got excited earlier when it finally looked different and thought I might be able to buy tickets, only to find you still need a code to unlock. Frustrating!

Londonrach1 · 17/04/2024 17:17

Think you might be scammed again. Can you watch it online or on a TV channel...I know it's not the same.

StridTheKiller · 17/04/2024 17:20

Viagogo are dodgy as fuck. I've been scammed by them. They seem legit but aren't.

springisspring · 17/04/2024 17:22

Your best option is AXS, that's how I got mine.
You have to keep checking all the time though as they go as soon as they are released.
