DH over reacting about public fart

OnePearlTraybake · 27/03/2024 20:26

I don’t normally break wind and have very good manners. However, I experienced an unexpected fart whilst out shopping with my husband and son earlier. We were leaving the shop and approaching the car and I broke wind really loudly in the car park. I really didn’t mean to but it was incredibly loud and unfortunately a man happened to be walking right by me whilst returning his trolley and another couple in a nearby car turned as they were loading their shopping in the boot.

I quickly got into the car and stifled my laughter but as DH and son got in they looked very unimpressed. This was several hours ago and it’s still being brought up in conversation. I feel he has completely over reacted by being this shocked and disgusted.

surely it’s not that big a deal?

Blame it on him next time..."insert husband name here!"

Its a fart fgs...does he let one slip when out? He needs to grow up..u wont see the bloke walking past again.
Tell husband, it was accident and to stop it now. You refuse to listen about it. Tell him grow up move on

Hufflemuff · 27/03/2024 20:33

Oh he is soooo not my kind of person... we would find it hilarious, maybe a little embarrassing to start with at the time, but once we drove away we would be in stitches!

x2boys · 27/03/2024 20:40

Well everybody farts even your dh and the random man ,it's not something I would normally do in public but occasionally one sneaks out the worse kind are the silent but deadly ones unsuspecting members of the public omit that others can walk into.

WillJeSuis · 27/03/2024 20:52

Farts are funny. The end.

SheepAndSword · 27/03/2024 21:06

You didn't do it on purpose for heavens sake. They're being silly.

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/03/2024 21:15

Oh gawd, is this all he has to worry about? An unexpected fart in the parking area?!

I assume he NEVER farts, has 100% control of his gas at all times?

Not letting it drop is another matter, thats shitty behaviour and I'd ask him what the fuck he thinks he is gaining by harping on about it. Its the past, it was an accident and you can't go back and un-fart!

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 27/03/2024 21:17

Is he always such a prude where women are concerned?

spiggydit · 27/03/2024 21:20

I knew my partner was a keeper when we realised quite early on that we both find farting childishly hilarious. Some 20 years on nothings changed

This. We would have been laughing all the way home.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 27/03/2024 21:24

Fuck sake, tell him to fucking get over it! He sounds like an absolute prudish bore 😴
Everyone farts, facts, so you might as well laugh about it.

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 27/03/2024 21:25

Also how old is your son? He also looked unimpressed? Mine would have found it hilarious, he's 12. Tbf though so would my daughter, who's 14.

Sprinkles211 · 27/03/2024 22:28

Best thread tonight ! Hands down I'm crying in the bath thank you op 🤣

Noseybookworm · 27/03/2024 22:32

I would have burst out laughing 😂 it's just a fart, everyone does it! Tell your DH and son to get over themselves!

Createausername1970 · 27/03/2024 22:33

We both let sneaky ones out when we think no-one will hear, and we have both been caught off guard!

Why is your DH so affronted?

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 27/03/2024 22:37

I agree with your husband- sorry.

Seeleyboo · 27/03/2024 22:39

I just woke my husband chuckling to myself reading this. Brilliant OP.

Lifeofasd1 · 27/03/2024 22:43

Wow u picked a fun guy there🤦‍♀️
The other people in carpark would have found this hilarious too, especially as
I presume your husbands face gave away the fact that he was desperately uncomfortable 😅😅😅 just make sure ur son knows that your husband reaction was completely ridiculous

Maray1967 · 27/03/2024 22:46

We would have laughed the whole way home!!

K37529 · 27/03/2024 22:47

I cried laughing at this 😂 if this had happened to me my partner and son would still be rolling around the car park laughing, your husband sounds very stuck up.

Mummame2222 · 27/03/2024 22:48

I would find it funny but if my mum did it I would find that so embarrassing so I understand your DS being pissed. Are you embarrassing in other ways?

ASimpleLampoon · 27/03/2024 22:50

Great! My new earworm is "Everybody Farts" to the tune of "Everybody Hurts" by REM. Thanks OP!

SunsetFire · 27/03/2024 22:51

Oh my god, I am crying reading this!!!! 😂😂😂

mathanxiety · 27/03/2024 22:51

Is he usually so uptight?

Topseyt123 · 27/03/2024 23:09

It's a fart, and farts are absolutely hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣

Tell the pair of them to get over themselves. Everyone farts, including them. I've sometimes woken DH up with a good, loud fart before his alarm goes off in the morning. No big deal.
