DH over reacting about public fart

I don’t normally break wind and have very good manners. However, I experienced an unexpected fart whilst out shopping with my husband and son earlier. We were leaving the shop and approaching the car and I broke wind really loudly in the car park. I really didn’t mean to but it was incredibly loud and unfortunately a man happened to be walking right by me whilst returning his trolley and another couple in a nearby car turned as they were loading their shopping in the boot.

I quickly got into the car and stifled my laughter but as DH and son got in they looked very unimpressed. This was several hours ago and it’s still being brought up in conversation. I feel he has completely over reacted by being this shocked and disgusted.

surely it’s not that big a deal?

They really are that funny. 🤣🤣

As for the sneezing, well not particularly the sneezes themselves, but when someone sneezes and farts simultaneously that is hilarious. Quite a show. 🤣🤣

There is very little in life that's funnier than a sneeze that ends in a bonus unexpected fart Grin

He's just jealous of your farting prowess, and feels emasculated. Get some beans and beer down him and send him out there to assert his dominance.

Farts are pretty disgusting, I never find them funny, and am often quite sickened by them.

But yep, they're natural and everyone does them, so long as you at least make an attempt not to spew a revolting stench at people who are trapped with you - try to leave the room etc (even better go outside as in this case tbh) and don't expect them to find it funny - and of course excuse yourself - nobody should get upset.

I fart plenty, due to bowel issues, try to do so away from others and if I can't manage that I always excuse myself.

Never heard my mum fart, though of course I'm sure she did. Would have been so embarrassed by this as a teenager. Used to completely disgust me when my father would cock his leg like a dog and not excuse himself. That's probably why I never find them funny tbh, his entitled behaviour, no concern for others coupled by a repulsive stench.

Perhaps your husband overreacted as obviously you couldn't help it, though you should have excused yourself and not expected them to find it amusing. If you didn't excuse yourself and immediately downplayed their natural revulsion, perhaps they were reacting to that.

Anyway, do be aware, although some would laugh, a lot of people do not find stinking or loud farts remotely funny and would be very embarrassed by this - and their opinions are equally valid to yours.

L.o.l

i bet if he let rip you have to see the funny aspect of it or even have experienced Dutch oven maybe 🤔 hopefully not,
if he is immature puerile or arsehole type,

What you need to do is play those youtube videos on the Internet of popular American Bagael guy and his mate inventive and quite humorous entertaining ways, in central Park etc,

He/ they are definitely a refreshing blast of change...
Maybe then the winds of change will start to happen in your home front too in some way..

cerisepanther73 · 30/03/2024 03:39

I would have laughed me head 🤣 off and the rest of my family too,

after all everyone does it and its accidently let rip occasion,
can happen to the best of us hopefully not somewhere we need to impress in some way like on a date or job interview or first time meet your partner parents first etc..

cerisepanther73 · 30/03/2024 03:43

"They say best things in life,"

are often free farting can be unexpected funny and entertaining as long as its accidently done in the right way,
not leaving a nasty stench in its wake.!

Nobody has to laugh or find farts funny, if they don't want to; but nobody has the right to dictate or shame you if you do one accidentally.

I don't know about OP's DH, but there are an awful lot of men out there who do find it amusing/no issue when they fart, but somehow expect women to 'know their place' and not be allowed to do the same, or otherwise risk belittling and shaming.
