Do your work colleagues actually know it's Easter this weekend and that Friday and Monday are Bank Holidays?

After some recent emails and conversations, I think some people just don't know. Maybe they are just out of the loop on these things.

Only if they have children really.

lissie123 · 26/03/2024 19:53

Yep it totally hasn’t registered with some people. My DH for one plus colleagues. It’s tiresome having to explain that no I won’t be working that day.

SecondHandFurniture · 26/03/2024 19:54

Yes, abstractly, but it's crept up on us in a "Oh is it the end of March already" way.

Dacadactyl · 26/03/2024 19:54

People forget. I have kids but I was still trying to book someone in on Friday at work. They had to remind me.

ByUmberViewer · 26/03/2024 19:54

Yes of course they know. It's Easter and we live in a Christian country so they know about Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Its taught in school.

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/03/2024 19:54

Well as a carer, we all know its bank holidays, no management around

Zingy123 · 26/03/2024 19:55

Yes but we have to work so it doesn't count.

This weekend?

That's the OP

It varies - and it's early this year

I think the early Easter has confused everyone.

SemperIdem · 26/03/2024 19:56

It’s earlier this year than it has been in a while, which has thrown people out I think.

Xmasbaby11 · 26/03/2024 19:56

How can they not know? I teach international students .. they know.

vanillawaffle · 26/03/2024 19:57

Yeah but only in relation to the things that need doing before tax year end in an oh..that's two less days...way

DigitalDust · 26/03/2024 19:57

From the amount of chocolate eggs around in the office I imagine most of them know,

PlumbersWifey · 26/03/2024 19:57

My sons big now so no childcare needed and I only realised when my colleague told me. Not religious at all.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/03/2024 19:58

Given we are trying to fit 5 days worth of work into 4, everyone knows.

WithManyTot · 26/03/2024 19:58

It is only since about Monday that I full started working to, "Everything needs to be finished by Thursday, not Friday this week" Until then I was still mentally scheduling things for Friday, or even Monday

FawnFrenchieMum · 26/03/2024 19:59

I ‘know’ but doesn’t stop me saying, let’s do that in the meeting on Friday, or to the kids, at school on Friday etc, only to remember when I look in the calendar or the kids say but we’re not there Friday.

MargaretThursday · 26/03/2024 20:01

My line manager is planning on working Good Friday AND Easter Sunday. I think he's planning on taking the Monday off though.

He's a minister. I think he's aware. At least I hope he is.😁

So big that he doesn't go to school?

Good Friday is not a Bank Holiday in Scotland.

It is, Easter Monday isn’t

Coleoo74 · 26/03/2024 20:06

I work in financial services for UK based industry so yes all are aware of bank holiday dates and the impacts it has in our work, also coming up to tax year end so the workload has been insane last few weeks and this week already seems such easier.

Previously worked in an international stockbrokers and we worked bank holidays on a rota or voluntary due to international differences but it was harder there to "remember" because they just didn't register the same when it was never a given you had any of them off...

No it’s Good Friday that isn’t, I’ve had two jobs with Scottish bank holidays and had to work Good Friday. Now I’m in a role that mirrors our English office so get both.
