DH was in a middle management role (c60k so mid/ high) but was getting bullied by the his manager, taking credit for his work, rumours, jibes, constant negative feedback downplaying positive, basically actively trying to manage him out.

it broke him, I mean nervous wreck, had a break down. That got used against him and tried to force him out. After months he managed to secure another role in the same company and he’s just gone from strength to strength and it’s been so lovely to see. Nominated for an award, even still being new in that team and just found out he won! (I know it’s largely arbitrary but still) and today the bonuses revealed. His old boss tried to say he didn’t qualify for one ‘due to his attitude and performance’ but the new one is just so happy with how he is, they pushed back and he got the full bonus amount.

it’s not about the money, so I don’t want to seem like I’m bragging but his old manager did everything in his power to try and hurt DH, mentally, professionally and financially and I’m so glad it’s blown up in his face.

don’t really have anyone to say this irl too, aside from dh but I’m just so so glad there is some justice / karma in the universe. And by trying to hurt him, his ex boss actually benefited him In the long run.

Congratulations to your DH. We have all worked with a bully, so it's great to see someone have a positive outcome.

brytersky · 22/03/2024 17:01

That's brilliant, well done to your dh 😃

Let's hope the powers that be have their eyes on the awful manager and give him a nice demotion 😄

SirenSays · 22/03/2024 17:02

So happy for you both! Workplace bullies are vile

purpleme12 · 22/03/2024 17:02

Brilliant
Don't blame you for feeling like you do

SausageRollsWithMustard · 22/03/2024 17:03

Hurrah!

Well done to your DH.

BobbyBiscuits · 22/03/2024 17:04

Good. I'm pleased he's got a new role where he's appreciated. Did he ever have any concrete grounds to make a complaint against this ex manager? Or find if others have been bullied by them? I guess he's best out of it but I feel sorry for the people stuck with that situation.
I had a manager who seemed like she would do anything to put me down and never admit to her own failings. She finally got demoted for bullying someone else much more popular than me.

Maray1967 · 22/03/2024 17:05

Well done to your DH. Hopefully someone is aware of the appalling behaviour of his former manager and deals with it.

Sera1989 · 22/03/2024 17:06

What a brilliant outcome and well done to your DH for his achievements after being so low in the previous role

LakieLady · 22/03/2024 17:08

Wow, that's a fantastic outcome! So pleased for you both.

Bullying managers are scum imo.

Icepinkeskimo · 22/03/2024 17:08

This has made my day, many congratulations to your husband. I absolutely detest bullies, and the ex boss sounds vile and vindictive.
I can and never will understand how a bully can actually sleep at night. Perhaps it’s narcissistic or they feel outclassed or threatened, it’s evil behaviour.

Old boss has shown his true colours, and karmas a bitch.

ScottBakula · 22/03/2024 17:09

What a great outcome for your DH , battling back must of been hard and scary. Well done that man !

Let's hope his old boss sinks into oblivion

TidyDancer · 22/03/2024 17:14

Oh that's brilliant! If he knows you post here please tell him how pleased we are for him! It's lovely to see a good ending to something like this. As someone who was also bullied out of a role I love to hear someone come good.

LeviOsaNotLeviosAR · 22/03/2024 17:17

Love this!
I know how crippling it can be when working in a toxic workplace. Some people never bounce back.
Chuffed your DH has had such a good experience and the bonus will just be vindication for him to know it really was a them and not him issue.

Sniksnaksnoram · 22/03/2024 17:47

Thank you all!

im just so pleased for him. He had his call and he is to be given £9k as his bonus before he was expecting £0. So he was beaming, bless his heart!

it’s not about the money, although that is a lovely surprise but the ‘in your faceness’

the bully, was the classic we all know too well. Enough ambiguity for plausible deniability and liked by the big wig. Others bullied too afraid to come forward etc, high turn over. Part of me wonders if the tirade of hatred to dh will still carry on now he’s in another area and especially being noted as doing well. But if it does, the plausible deniability has gone and he’ll do a grievance

So good to hear OP congrats to your DH
i hope this damages the former manager’s cred😀

MILTOBE · 22/03/2024 17:55

Congratulations to your husband! Bullying is so awful - I hope that old manager gets his comeuppance.

Pombearprincess · 22/03/2024 18:00

Congratulations to your DH. Lets hope that the drop in the horrible managers brilliance also gets noticed now they can no longer take the credit for DH's work.

Projectme · 22/03/2024 18:03

Fabulous news!! Congrats to your Dh!

Notinthemood12 · 22/03/2024 18:07

Good. Best revenge

purplecorkheart · 22/03/2024 18:09

So glad for you both. Glad your husband is now working with people who appreciate him.

Allwelcone · 22/03/2024 19:01

So glad for you! I've found a lovely job after 2 awful experiences in 3 years. It's like a flower opening, I bet he's back to the man you forst met!
How mean of the old boss to try and say he didnt qualify for the bonus. That old boss will always be a dick and has to live with that fact every day.

whengodwasarabbit1 · 22/03/2024 19:02

Ahhh this warms my heart! Your husband is very brave to build himself up and carry on after going through a situation like that. You too for supporting him.
Its so satisfying when karma kicks ass!

Motnight · 22/03/2024 19:03

Well done to your DH, Op.

Lifebeganat50 · 22/03/2024 19:05
