I can literally never find a pair of socks! I constantly buy them and the kids just throw them off anywhere? please tell me I am not alone. DH said I have a huge issue with it and its appalling that I cannot manage it:(

Gonna ask the obvious question - why is it your sole (!) responsibility to look after DC's socks?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/03/2024 09:41

I’d get rid of DH. There’s about a million lost/unmatched socks in our house.

Dd has also ‘lost’ about 15 pairs of pants. Where and how l do not know.

catherinewales · 18/03/2024 09:42

We have a massive bag of socks. I always say I'm going to throw them away and start again but I can't do it. Life is too short to sort socks out. Just buy new ones 🙈

RodeoDri · 18/03/2024 09:43

So glad this isnt just me hahhahaha

Your dh sounds like a twat.

I have massive issues with sock pairing in my house, so don't bother anymore. Odd socks are absolutely fine. Life is too short to stress about that shit.

SmashedPrawnsInAMilkyBasket · 18/03/2024 09:44

Tell your not very DH he is in charge of socks now.

Also always only buy socks of one colour, then pairing is never an issue.

Just let them wear odd socks!

Mazuslongtoenail · 18/03/2024 09:49

My kids never take their socks off outdoors or at random times. Yet I still have a basket of odd socks waiting for their matching one to turn up. I just don’t know where they disappear to?!

ps your DH sounds like a knob

But it is😱they fade differently. And that does my head in more than odd socks!

SeaToSki · 18/03/2024 09:51

Set the kids off on a sock hunt every Monday night. One smartie for every dirty sock they find.

beguilingeyes · 18/03/2024 09:52

Washing machines eat them. I thought everone knew this ;)

geez, I'd tell your husband he's in charge of socks now.

IFollowRivers · 18/03/2024 09:53

Every now and then when life is getting on top of me I get out my odd socks bag.
I then spend a happy time reuniting some of them with each other.
Who needs expensive therapists when you have the calm pleasure of remarrying previously divorced socks?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/03/2024 09:54

I just buy more socks, buy more socks, buy more socks, buy more socks, buy more socks... I've stopped questioning where they go.

IFollowRivers · 18/03/2024 09:54

Sorry that doesn't answer your problem but it stops it being a problem any more.

This has been my life with socks ! Just cannot throw the huge bag away just incase the other sock appears! Going on now for many years. My adult children are all really weird now about odd socks …😉

thatgirlinjapan · 18/03/2024 10:00

Don't they go to sock land on the other side of the washing machine?

My mum said that's where all socks go 🫠

Absolutely brilliant way dealing with this problem. I did once take my sock bag into work and gave it to one of the residents to pair up. Kept her occupied for ages!

scalt · 18/03/2024 10:02

I just solve the problem by going sockless as much as I can.

Yea to this. I keep all the odds in a pillow case and enjoy the occasional tip out to try and find a pair 🧦

ashiningbeaconinspace · 18/03/2024 10:06

I wear socks of the same style but different colours. I don't bother pairing them. As they are different colours, the fading differently is no longer a problem.

Willmafrockfit · 18/03/2024 10:08

i used to pay my dd to pair socks
now i make sure i do not buy plain black socks

x2boys · 18/03/2024 10:09

I just buy everyone black socks

ElizabethanAgain · 18/03/2024 10:13

Do you have a dog?
