No one to sign DD’s passport renewal!!

Trying to renew DD’s passport and we have no one to sign. I could ask my manager but she hasn’t known me for 2 years and I wouldn’t want to put her in that position to lie for us.

I have 2 friends both SAHM, DH doesn’t have anyone he can ask the person he did ask doesn’t have a passport.

What on earth do we do?

I have so many people I could ask at work as I’m a HR professional but I haven’t know them two years.

If she's old enough to need a passport renewal, is she in school?
Will GP do it for a fee?

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 15/03/2024 08:48

Ask their teacher?

Pinkloveheartpjs · 15/03/2024 08:49

Teachers and GP’s not allowed to anymore

Does she definitely need it signed? You only need renewal signed if you can't be recognised from previous photo.

GPs aren't supposed to do it any more unless they actually know you socially.

Roselilly36 · 15/03/2024 08:49

I don’t think you need to get it countersigned for a renewal OP. I renewed my sons passport recently so he now has a new adult passport (we were renewing child to first adult one) just uploaded new photo, all went through fine, had his new passport in 8 days.

Sugarfish · 15/03/2024 08:50

I’d just ask your manager to be honest. She might be fine to do it. I’ve never even met the person who signed mine, he was just some guy my dad vaguely knew through his work

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 15/03/2024 08:50

Do you know anyone who owns a business? Does your daughter go to any groups with a leader ie Scouts?

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 15/03/2024 08:52

Do you know your neighbours? One of them might be happy to.

But as others have said, you don't normally need it signed for a renewal.

Singinghollybob · 15/03/2024 08:52

Where did you work beforehand? Could you ask any of those ex colleagues?

AlexaPlaySomeHappyHardcore · 15/03/2024 08:53

I renewed my teenage daughter’s passport last year and didn’t need to have it countersigned? Are you sure you do?

Saisong · 15/03/2024 08:53

No neighbours? Do you go to a particular shop regularly? Any clubs or sports?

PoppingTomorrow · 15/03/2024 08:53

Neighbours
Ex colleagues
Parents of DD friends
Pharmacist

ThePriceIsWright · 15/03/2024 08:53

If it's a renewal, does it need countersigning?

Pinkloveheartpjs · 15/03/2024 08:54

She goes to gymnastics but only been there for 6 months.

Person we know that owns a business doesn’t have a passport 😭

I had my child's signed by a teacher friend. Are you sure teachers are not allowed?

bluecomputerscreen · 15/03/2024 08:55

we recently renewed dc passorts and didn't need a counter signature.

I had my child's signed by a teacher friend. Are you sure teachers are not allowed?

I think teachers aren't allowed to do it for pupils. If the teacher is a friend that is fine.

Shouldbedoing · 15/03/2024 08:56

My retired teacher friend signed one

Pinkloveheartpjs · 15/03/2024 08:56

Terrible as it sounds we don’t know our neighbours. I have filled it out online and they have ask for it to be countersigned.

cliffdiver · 15/03/2024 08:56

The person who signs can be retired.

Any friends of your/DH’s parents?

Saymyname28 · 15/03/2024 08:56

Neighbours, you'd be surprised how many people can. Do you go to church? The library (often run by retired people who can still sign)

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 15/03/2024 08:58

Your hairdresser if they have their own business. Your parents' friends. Ex-colleagues, even if you haven't been in recent contact with them still know you are who you say you are.

AlltheFs · 15/03/2024 08:59

Go through all the people on your social media, surely someone you went to school with has the right profession? Just a quick look at mine has about 30 eligible people and I’ve known them all for 30 years+

burnoutbabe · 15/03/2024 09:00

I counter signed a kids one. I just had to say I had known the parent over 2 years.

So anyone in the office you have known longer? Or someone from a past workplace? It's done by email? No school or university friend. Friend of parent?
