This is not too much £ for a leisure club membership

For a Hilton hotel membership I think it is quite reasonable but wanted to get other opinions.

£79 per month (intend to use at least 3x a week).
Arena space, gym, indoor swimming, sauna and steam room included and 2 hours free parking.

My reasoning is that I feel like the facilities will be clean and decent at least.

I have seen cheaper options £40 a month for example but with poorer reviews.

What does everyone else pay for their leisure club membership?

A lot less, in a Village hotel with a proper sized pool.

dreamingofsun · 09/03/2024 16:10

I pay 33 per month. this includes as many group lessons such as yoga as i want to attend but no swimming pool. its a council place. that seems a decent price to me as long as you r going to use it

I think that's the going rate for a "luxury" type gym. My Nuffield one was that - I left when they wouldn't confirm they wouldn't let men in to the women's changing rooms and now go to a smaller and cheaper one where they know the difference between men and women.

FLOWER1982 · 09/03/2024 16:12

I pay almost half that but have been a member for years and they haven’t put my price up. It’s a small gym, classes, pool and steam room/ sauna. For new members they now charge a joining fee and £72 a month, private gym.
I guess it depends if you will use it regularly. I definitely think it’s worth it as I love going.

Olika · 09/03/2024 16:13

With gym, pool, sauna and steam room and parking I think thats ok assuming you will be using the facilities. I am paying £50 for gym, group classes and sauna.

lap90 · 09/03/2024 16:13

That's very good.

That would be 100 or so minimum at clubs which offer similar in my area.

PotatoFan · 09/03/2024 16:14

I pay £16.99 for a hotel gym membership with gym, 25m pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, classes. Also has a Starbucks and a bar. I just use the swimming and steam room really.

Wow, this seems very cheap! Where are you based??

I pay £27.00 month at local council ....brand new leisure centre. This is subsidised as I am over 60.
Includes unlimited classes eg yoga, ballet, spin, gym use of 20m pool and basic spa. Parking £5.00 per month. Feel very lucky to have this facility.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 09/03/2024 17:00

£300 a year for everyone active council one - gym, swim and all classes. Think I can use any everyone active branch as well.

devildeepbluesea · 09/03/2024 17:01

£45 per month to use the council place(s) - access to about 5 centres but I only use 3, this includes lane and leisure swimming, leisure pool has slides and DD goes in free with me.

JustMarriedBecca · 09/03/2024 17:02

Mines £130 a month. Worth every penny. The council one near near me has limited hours for swimming, is Baltic cold and smells of wee.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/03/2024 17:04

My ‘posher’ local, with all the facilities you mention, is about £50 a month. I stopped going there as I don’t like pools and don’t use them, so didn’t want to pay for that facility. The cheaper local doesn’t have a pool and is nearer £20.

Moonshine5 · 09/03/2024 17:06

DL I think it's around 120 per month

Floofydawg · 09/03/2024 17:07

DL I pay just over £1000 for the year so I think yours is a good deal.

PainPerdu · 09/03/2024 17:07

I pay £28 for my gym membership, which includes pool, sauna, gym and classes plus free parking. But it's a university sports centre, not a hotel.

JennyfromtheBlok · 09/03/2024 17:11

A guest pass a month

Marellaspirit · 09/03/2024 17:11

£30 a month, local council leisure centre. Access to 3 different sites, gym, classes, tennis court and pools. I have 2 swimming lessons a week and do 3 classes so I feel like it's brilliant value for money.

Previous gym was £15 a month for access to gym and classes but paid an extra £50 for small group PT 3x a week. No pool but longer opening hours.

SgtJuneAckland · 09/03/2024 17:17

£48 a month but I can use any facility within my county, swim, sauna, steam at most locations, racquets 3 times a week max and I can take up to 3 guests for a game each time, gym, classes -good range including pilates, yoga, barre, aqua classes, spin, HIIT, circuits, bootcamp and loads of others I haven't tried including I've called ladies recreation and another called fit fifties! Plus an app with home workouts (I never use the latter) . There's no limit on the number of classes /swim sessions I can do in a day. DH also had membership and DS is at swim school so when we go swimming at a family it doesn't cost anything extra. It's pretty decent the facilities are good in most locations, there is one closer to my old work that's a bit smaller and older facilities but still more than fine

TheDefiant · 09/03/2024 17:17

I have a partner pass to a Nuffield Health member. £30 pcm. Free parking. Free towel. Lovely clean space. Spa, sauna, steam room and 20 m pool. The hairdryers are fee to use too.

Have had a gym programme written for me (free) and also go to classes.

Love it.

It's not that expensive if you know for sure you'll use it.

I'm planning to add multi site to my membership eventually for an extra £25pcm.

SgtJuneAckland · 09/03/2024 17:18

And to be fair I've just realised it's actually £39.50 each now because since DH joined we have a joint membership which makes it cheaper

TheDefiant · 09/03/2024 17:18

Oh and an app. I've used some of the sessions to help with my back pain.

Back health maintenance is the reason I now gym regularly!

Mummadeze · 09/03/2024 17:21

£79 a month for Virgin Activ which includes a corporate discount. It wouldn’t be that bad value if I actually went :(

SgtJuneAckland · 09/03/2024 17:22

@JennyfromtheBlok where do you live that David Lloyd is that cheap?! My local is £189 a month and that's plus not platinum membership!

Yes, that's what I pay at our council-run leisure centre. That gives me a fantastic gym (my experience of most hotel ones is that they're tiny, except some Marriott ones), good pool, sauna, steam room, etc, free access to all classes, 4 hours parking.
