Amazing just that really posting here for traffic. He's 97 and still going strong he's truly an inspiration.

Do you find him inspirational because he is 97? Or because of his work.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/02/2024 19:23

Bit patronising.

The man is a legend, but someone’s age shouldn’t come into it.

Both

He is amazing man...I can't look at animals without hearing his voice...

tomago · 25/02/2024 19:25

Tevion1213 · 25/02/2024 19:23

Both

What is it about him being 97 you find inspirational? He hasn't really done anything to be 97 other than not die.

He's a legend for his work but the age thing is a bit weird.

Stop patronising the poster.

Living to that age is quite a feat and maybe his lifestyle contributed to his health

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 25/02/2024 19:27

YANBU.

It truly is.. omg

Mountainpika · 25/02/2024 19:29

His age is relevant because he has continued to work well past the age when most people retire. He is still inspiring people.

It's not inspiring to not die

Tevion1213 · 25/02/2024 19:29

Seriously in real life away from mumsnet his age would be mentioned and nobody would think badly of me lol

And? That's not inspirational it's just what he has chosen to do. Lots of people don't aspire to work to 97.

This.

Stop the snarking, it's not particularly clever.

No are you?

pickledandpuzzled · 25/02/2024 19:31

I think we all aspire to be active, for and healthy, living a life with purpose. That he is still doing so at 97 is inspirational. I’m still working on it at 55!

Tevion1213 · 25/02/2024 19:33

Well I think he's wonderful still crawling about at 97 and dedicating his life to animals

I think he's wonderful but not for being able to crawl at 97

MartinsSpareCalculator · 25/02/2024 19:34

To be still working and having the impact he does at 97 is an exceptional achievement so I don't know why people are getting arsey over his age being mentioned.

He's so amazing. I remember watching Life on Earth at the age of six and just loving it and him. My df managed to get me an autographed copy of the book and it's one of my most valued possessions.

ThePerfectDog · 25/02/2024 19:35

tomago · 25/02/2024 19:31

No are you?

Not at all. If you’re not having a bad day, why are you working so hard to try and pick holes in something which is entirely benign and respectful of someone?

Soberthoughts · 25/02/2024 19:35

If I make it to 97 I want a 21 gun salute and full fanfare for every day I'm still living. Making it to 97 is an amazing achievement, whether or not the person had any control over it. Add on to that the incredible work David Attenborough has done and continues to do. I think he's awesome.
