Just wondering what your true JUDGY thoughts are? I don't wear makeup often I'm in mid forties. How am I perceived? Lazy? Frumpy? Not caring? Boring? Can't be bothered to make an effort for others ? Or confident ? Perceived as being ' pretty enough' ?

I never notice.Weird that anyone would.

Becomingolder · 16/02/2024 11:45

I don't even think about it. Though now I have I probably know more people who don't wear it on a day to day basis than those that do. I only wear it when out out and not always then.

Oncetwicethreetimesalady · 16/02/2024 11:45

Depends a lot on how you present the rest of yourself. What you do with your hair and clothes for example.
no makeup and got dressed in the dark and cut own hair is v different to decent hair cut and put together outfit without makeup.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 16/02/2024 11:45

I probably wouldn’t even notice. I’m too busy worrying about myself to care if others are wearing makeup. And it’s none of my business anyway.

BrightGreenGoose · 16/02/2024 11:45

I'm 40 and have never worn it.
I don't notice when people are wearing it, I did notice that my next-door neighbour looked like a completely different person when I knocked on her door early one morning because she had none on and my only thought was wow she has got some impressive make-up skills.
I don't really care if people judge me for not wearing it, it's none of thier business.

SpicyMargaritaPlease · 16/02/2024 11:45

I wear a lot of makeup, I really like it. I can honestly say I don't even think about whether other people do or not. It would make absolutely no difference to the way I thought about someone.

HoppyHat · 16/02/2024 11:46

I don't tend to notice one way or another. Unless a usually non-make-up wearer suddenly does or vice versa.
Once I was at a car boot sale (so early morning) and bumped into an old family friend who I hadn't seen in some time. I mentioned to my mum that X didn't look very well, were they okay etc and it just turns out her normal full face of makeup was missing!

chipsandpeas · 16/02/2024 11:46

i dont care

HunterHearstHelmsley · 16/02/2024 11:47

I'm generally jealous that they feel like they don't need make up when I feel like I do! I don't think I've ever looked at someone who doesn't usually wear make up and thinking negatively on how they look. I've definitely thought it about someone who usually wears male up and isn't for whatever reason (I do not say this out loud!)

BetsyBobbins · 16/02/2024 11:48

Not my face, not my business 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ellie1015 · 16/02/2024 11:48

Negative things I notice about people......rude, frequently late, unkind, if your clothes or hair were dirty I would notice and be a bit concerned.

Would not think twice about no make up, unless it was admiring great skin or nice natural look.

ZiriForGood · 16/02/2024 11:48

If I notice that someone does wear makeup, I judge them.

I suppose I just don't notice vast majority of makeup bearers, because the result is still a human face and I just don't recognise it as makeup
If I have to notice, it means the makeup is very visible, which means either very artsy, or absolutely ugly.

EmilyTjP · 16/02/2024 11:48

I don’t think anything. It doesn’t bother me.

However, most of the nasty judgmental threads are from women judging others for wearing make up/fashion/botox/fillers etc. So I don’t think the issue is with the make up wearing women.

I wouldn't even notice unless someone had a lot of make up and it looked quite obvious. But I am someone who never wears any so probably not a good representation.

Proved my point!

Fourfurrymonsters · 16/02/2024 11:49

This is annoying tbh. Why is it the default that women should wear make-up? Should the question - if anything - not be what we think of women who DO wear it?

MoonlitButterfly · 16/02/2024 11:49

I'm late 30's and haven't worn make up at all since I was a teenager. I don't like the feel of it! I think I unconsciously "judge" the ones who wear heavy make up, I think it looks dirty, but if it makes them feel good then crack on.

TheKeatingFive · 16/02/2024 11:49

Absolutely nothing. Entirely up to the individual whether they wear it or not

SirenSays · 16/02/2024 11:49

Very likely I wouldn't even notice. I certainly don't give a toss if a woman wears make up or not. Unless she's one of those nasty ones who think it somehow makes her better than people that do.

airforsharon · 16/02/2024 11:50

I'd love to have good enough skin to not need it, so it's clear skin i admire rather than reasons for wearing/not wearing make up.

And yes i know i don't HAVE to wear it either but my skin is very, very fair & hellish sensitive, i get flushed/sore very easily and wear a powder foundation to even it out and give some protection. Also wear mascara & clear lip balm, and that's it. I much prefer the way i look like this, rather than bare faced.

PosyPrettyToes · 16/02/2024 11:50

I don't think I'd even notice. If something drew my attention to it, I might feel a bit sorry for them that they miss out on the fun of slapping on a new face, purely because I love make up! Although I don't wear much myself day to day - tinted moisturiser, eyebrow pencil, lip balm, mascara and maybe a smudgy eye pencil if I feel fancy. But in terms of their looks? I wouldn't have any opinion. The 12 year olds in giant, spidery Ru Paul false lashes that are currently everywhere, on the other hand......

NotTerfNorCis · 16/02/2024 11:51

I've never worn make-up! Don't see it as a problem at all.

Danceswithweasels · 16/02/2024 11:51

Probably don't notice those who don't, I just mentally went through those I work with and couldn't really remember if they did or didn't ... I used to before Covid but two years of being holed up alone and now WFH a lot of the time I can't be bothered, I put on a bit of BB cream and mascara sometimes but that's about it. Do notice the mainly young women at work who wear "a full face" and in a nice way remember being young and pretty and making an effort but certainly do not judge either way, or really think about it.

biscuitnut · 16/02/2024 11:52

I would probably only notice if someone who wore make up every day wasn’t wearing it or vice versa. I tend to notice very heavy make-up in young girls only because I always think they don’t need it!
