Just wondering what your true JUDGY thoughts are? I don't wear makeup often I'm in mid forties. How am I perceived? Lazy? Frumpy? Not caring? Boring? Can't be bothered to make an effort for others ? Or confident ? Perceived as being ' pretty enough' ?

I don’t wear it except for special occasions. I think all those chemicals are ageing. I sat opposite a beautiful fresh faced young woman on the train and watched her turn herself into a thickly painted drag queen. She looked so ugly at the end. Really sad.

i am 45 and speak on stage for a living. I do wear slap for a gig.

I also work on an environment where women don't tend to wear much make up. That probably makes a difference too

Me too.

Neither do my friends. So I probably notice it more when women do wear it, rather than not.

DinnaeFashYersel · 16/02/2024 16:22

I also don't need to be admired or feel beavers for not wearing makeup.

Honestly find the concept of either amusing

You can just glance at a beaver to ascertain if it’s wearing any slap, there’s no need to go all touchy feely @DinnaeFashYersel. Best to keep your hands off beavers that are not your own.

(I know you immediately corrected your post but thanks for the entertainment 😁).

Calderadust · 16/02/2024 17:33

I don't care what other women are doing. If they feel happy with or without makeup that is all that matters. I only wear it for special occasions now.

LaylaLayla1 · 16/02/2024 17:34

I wear makeup most days, and I never give a thought to other people who don’t wear it, it’s their choice.

Anyone who judges anyone for wearing makeup or not wearing makeup, needs to take a look at themselves.

surfacedeamon · 16/02/2024 17:36

I wore make up every day until about a year ago. I had always worked in a customer facing role and I liked looking and feeling good. My new job is in farming and I meet people covered in shit and oil most of the time. I no longer wear it every day.

TheBerry · 16/02/2024 17:36

I don’t judge them negatively at all.

But I expect that’s because I rarely wear makeup myself!

I do quite admire women who always look well turned out with nice hair and curated outfits. I just never seem to manage it myself.

Maybe they are all judging me 😬

SpongeBobSquarePantaloons · 16/02/2024 17:36

How do I feel about myself? Quite happy, thank you Grin

AGoingConcern · 16/02/2024 17:37

I can't recall ever noticing and wouldn't care if I did.

But I certainly would think less of someone who judged any woman for not wearing makeup. Or high heels, or dresses, or nail polish, or anything else.

MangshorJhol · 16/02/2024 17:37

I wear no make up on a day to day basis. I am an academic and there are not a lot of academic women who wear a full face of make up. I wear some lip gloss or a little bit of eyeliner when I am presenting at a conference. My skin is okay (I am South Asian) but I have never really worn make up.
I did on my wedding day and my DH who would literally not notice this stuff looked at me and said, ‘you look lovely…but different. What happened?’ 😂😂😂

I like earrings though and sometimes change my daily. I have a nice collection of earrings and scarves. That’s my thing.

Bax765 · 16/02/2024 17:38

I don't think I would ever notice if someone was not wearing makeup, and I wouldn't have any opinion on it. The way people look isn't important to me.

My friendship group, family and colleagues are not heavy makeup wearers either, so I guess I've never really given it much thought.

Notsoslim · 16/02/2024 17:38

I usually wear makeup if I’m going out for dinner or something or if I’m on holiday and I like to spend a bit more time dressing up.

On average i probably wear it once a week, although this year haven’t worn any since mid January when I was on a city break. The most I’ll do if I’m pooping to Aldi or the library is Vaseline on my lips then clear lip gloss.

My sleep hasn’t been great the past few years so I feel some brightening concealer, subtle blusher and dark eye liner helps a lot if I’m going out. I wear foundation, and eyeshadow too if I’m taking photos.

I don’t think anything of someone not wearing makeup and don’t really notice tbh.

if people want to wear makeup every day that’s nice too - for some people it’s very much an artistic expression thing they enjoy doing and are good at it.

BeyondMyWits · 16/02/2024 17:38

I don't wear makeup. I pluck stray eyebrows and chin hair and use an spf moisturiser.

I probably wouldn't notice if anyone had makeup on or not... unless too much.
I do sometimes notice older customers (I work on a shop counter) who have gorgeous skin, and comment. Often they've never worn makeup. (I got the spf moisturiser tip from more than one).

GreyhpundGirl · 16/02/2024 17:38

I don't give a flying fig, why would I? I don't wear much and often not any. Why would anyone judge me on that? And I honestly don't think anyone has.

boredybored · 16/02/2024 17:38

I don't understand why anyone would judge anyone .. literally who cares . Not like going out actually naked is it 🙄

helpfulperson · 16/02/2024 17:39

Most of the women I work with gave up wearing any during covid and haven't gone back to it.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 16/02/2024 17:39

I think women who don’t wear make up as they age are a lot more confident than myself.

watchingthesnowfall · 16/02/2024 17:39

I am envious of them not needing to wear it! I have very fair skin and light brown eyelashes, and I honestly look ill without any blusher. I don't wear a ton of makeup, especially in the summer when I'm not quite so pale, but always wear mascara and blusher. I feel quite naked without it!

Bubblybooboo · 16/02/2024 17:40

Genuinely don’t think any thing of it. However my mum rarely wore make up and many of my friends aren’t daily makeup wearers. Maybe it’s more obvious to people surrounded by people who always wear make up.

I'm sixty. I stopped wearing make up or dying my hair when 50. I don't care what anyone else thinks. Its very freeing. I recommend it.

pollyglot · 16/02/2024 17:41

Much more concerned about putting on sunscreen and a hat.

Woodyandbuzz1 · 16/02/2024 17:41

I wear makeup everyday

I don't notice if other women do or not

I have absolutely no opinions on women who never wear it

FluffyFanny · 16/02/2024 17:41

I'm 51 and I love wearing makeup- I've worn it increasingly all my adult life. I use a lightish hand, but wear foundation, bronzer, blusher, concealer, mid-tone grey eyeshadow to define round eye, mascara, eyebrow pencil and usually nudeish lipstick. I love how I can conceal things, highlight things I like, make eyes look bigger etc. I'm very fair and with no makeup I feel like my face is featureless having almost invisible pale eyebrows and lashes and grey eyes.

I also enjoy the 'dressing up' side of makeup- a bold lipstick or smoky or sparkly eyeshadows for the weekend or a night out.

I neither admire/or judge negatively anyone who doesn't wear makeup. I might feel a bit envious of a woman who looks really beautiful without makeup.

There seems to be a bit of a reverse snobbery kind of thing from some people who don't bother- that they are somehow superior for going without and being 'themselves'. I find the same attitude around clothes- as if not caring what you look like makes you a bigger person.

socks1107 · 16/02/2024 17:41

I don't notice and I don't or haven't ever even thought about it tbh. I'd love to not wear makeup but it was once a part of my uniform for work so am too conditioned to putting it on

Luxell934 · 16/02/2024 17:42

I wear makeup everyday but I honestly wouldn’t notice if someone wasn’t wearing makeup. I would notice more if someone was wearing heavy/unnatural makeup.
