Just wondering what your true JUDGY thoughts are? I don't wear makeup often I'm in mid forties. How am I perceived? Lazy? Frumpy? Not caring? Boring? Can't be bothered to make an effort for others ? Or confident ? Perceived as being ' pretty enough' ?

I don’t notice one way or the other most of the time. I’m more likely to notice and women with very obvious heavy makeup, but just assume they like how it looks.

Pretty much exactly this.

I admire women that looks great without make up. Without foundation on I look like iv been dug up

This is me.

I really do look unwell without light makeup. My face skin is about 12 different dull colours.

@Unusualactualname

I've basically never worn make up. Except for when I got married but only because Mum put a gun to my head.

Mainly because:

  1. I can't be arsed/ can't see the point,
  2. it needs constant touching up, and
  3. my skin feels claggy when I sweat and it's a suffocate-y feeling. Not fogetting ...
  4. I resent paying through the nose to smear gunk on my face. (Mean) And then fork out more to wash the stuff off.

Also, the history of cosmetics is a history of counterfeit, mendacity and actual poisons. And since when has a cosmetics advert tried to make you feel good about yourself? I cite Boot's authentic face campaign. Nuff said.

A few years ago I got a steam facial and apparantly my skin was in really good nick. (Feeling righteous)

For those non make-up wearers out there, Christ mentioned something about not gilding the lily. Obviously, he meant that you're all too damn beautiful.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/02/2024 15:09

Never wear it, I don't notice if others aren't wearing it either.

I do notice heavy make up, rather 'out there' colour choices for lips and eyes... I notice more subtle make up too but I don't really judge either, if thats what makes you feel good, you do that.

I feel like make up is a totally weird concept, painting your face so that we all don't see what you really look like.. Except we do. We know it isn't real.

Elsewhere123 · 16/02/2024 15:09

I Protect my skin from the sun ,factor 50. That's it. Have flaky skin that didn't like make up. Saved a fortune.

Couldn't care less. I rarely do but then more often than not, my Face is covered in compost by the end of the day at work.

notquiteruralbliss · 16/02/2024 15:11

I'm in my 60s and in a professional job. I've never worn makeup and would only pay attention to whether or not someone else was wearing it if there was something unusual about it.

crumbledog · 16/02/2024 15:13

Don’t really notice, would be more likely to notice someone wearing heavy makeup.

Sususudio · 16/02/2024 15:13

I had some makeup professionally done some months ago, and I looked fantastic. But I can't replicate it at home. I was planning to go to a MAC counter and get some tips, but I cba, really. I might do it if my appearance made a difference to my work, but it doesn't.

DD wears a fair bit of makeup and looks great, probably because she has good motor skills.

Haffdonga · 16/02/2024 15:13

I very rarely wear makeup, and never for day time at work.

I suppose I only notice the people who are always heavily made up and I subconsciously make the unfair assumption that they must be quite insecure or have low self esteem.

honeylulu · 16/02/2024 15:15

I don't feel any way about women who don't (or do) wear make up. I wouldn't give it a second thought. Even if it registered I'd assume (and hope) that was their preference and fair enough.

I like a full face of make up myself but I wear it to please myself.

Fishbones1 · 16/02/2024 15:17

41 here. I don't wear makeup as I can't be bothered. It's so much effort and I'm not sure what for, as I don't think it's for me! I very very seldom wear any - I think I feel like it's a bit of a faff and I don't really give a shit what other people think anyway. I probably should care a bit more but I'm a busy full-time working mum and quite honestly, plucking my eyebrows is enough.

strawberryswizzler · 16/02/2024 15:20

in the nicest way - couldn’t care less. i’m an all or nothing kind of person, no makeup or full glam just cause i fancy it. i don’t care if someone else wears makeup or not - though i definitely feel i’m perceived differently when walking into a department shop etc, totally ignored with no makeup or targeted by sales assistants when i have makeup on. which i find funny considering people who wear a full face of makeup every single day surely must be in the minority and they still obviously shop for nice things? 😅

Tinseltiss · 16/02/2024 15:22

I wear a lot of make up some days other days nothing I wouldn’t care what someone else did unless they go on about I don’t wear makeup like it makes them better then anyone else then they come across as what is known by younger people as a “pick me”🤣 where they use wearing no make up or not caring about appearance to act more chill around guys to get attention 🤣🤣 you don’t realise it untill someone points out someone’s doing it.

Dogdo · 16/02/2024 15:23

"Brave" to not wear makeup?!

Jesus.

I don't really notice one way or the other TBH. I tend to notice how people behave, rather than how they look.

I'm 40 this year. I'd say I mostly don't wear make up. Nothing against it, and I actually quite like wearing it, but I often don't find the time!

Britinme · 16/02/2024 15:23

I am almost 74 and never wear make-up. I honestly don't notice whether people do or don't.

ArrrMeHearties · 16/02/2024 15:23

I'm 32 and I don't wear make up. Last time I wore make up was a family wedding in 2021, will be wearing some tomorrow for an event then in summer for another wedding. I just can't be bothered with it all but I appreciate that there will be people that like wearing make up

Wooloohooloo · 16/02/2024 15:25

I don't wear make up day to day but it's not because I'm brave or don't think I need it or because of any other reason than I can't be bothered. Wear it for nights out. I have naturally full well shaped black eyebrows and lashes but also dark rings and am a bit spotty with an uneven complexion. My face is just my face, I don't see how it can signify anything.

Tinseltiss · 16/02/2024 15:25

This comment is “pick me” if anyone wanted a example where you say painting face to wheat you don’t really look like but most people just emphasis there features rather then change them obviously you can with make up but that’s drag makeup heavy and causes spots most people are not doing that everyday

majorkira · 16/02/2024 15:26

I don't wear make up only occasionally if I go out.
I feel very comfortable with that I have always been the same and it won't change.

Titchyfeep · 16/02/2024 15:26

I wouldn’t notice if you weren’t wearing makeup. I only notice those people that make themself look really fake with too much make up.

Petrine · 16/02/2024 15:27

I never leave the house without makeup.

I don’t care what anyone else does.

Lemonyyy · 16/02/2024 15:27

I'm 34 and don't wear makeup. I don't think I look any better with it on so why bother (not that I am stunning without just don't think the effort : reward ratio is worth it!)

I don't care if other people wear it, everyone looks great if they're happy with their appearance.

JamSandle · 16/02/2024 15:27

I really couldn't care less if a woman wears or doesn't wear makeup.

MikeRafone · 16/02/2024 15:29

nothing, no thoughts as I guess its every individuals own choice. I do spend a lot of time with people at the gym, pool etc and other activities where makeup isn't worn naturally. When I see these people with makeup on at other times it does make a difference to their appearance.
