"A schoolboy is in a serious condition in hospital after being mauled by what is believed to be an XL bully.

Merseyside Police were called to Wadham Road in Bootle just after 5.20pm on Saturday following reports a dog had bitten an eight-year-old boy to the head in the communal area of flats nearby.

The boy was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries and required emergency surgery. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition."

IMHO the ban doesn't go anywhere near far enough and all XL Bullys need to be put to sleep.

@VeterinaryCareAssistant It's better than reading about a grandma screaming to death as she was ripped to pieces by those lovely boys. Or a 9 year old child having his head ripped apart, or the poor Scottish women, head ripped open defending her puppy...how would you feel about the puppy ripped apart?

They had an injection they fell asleep.

If dogs are so great why don't you go and live in dog city where all the businesses are staffed by dogs all the cars are driven by dogs etc.

This is what I’m picturing and it sounds amazing. I’m packing my bags as we speak.

Hehe, thank you for illustrating my point!
'Dog City' can only exist in cartoon land!

To everyone saying they should all be PTS, and I agree, there was a deleted thread that may or may not have been a troll, but the OP was upset that they were putting her partners XLB to sleep as they had a baby and couldn’t risk it and couldn’t give it away. The majority of MN response was to call her a murderer! Bonkers

I was on that thread. The number of morons who jumped in to call the OP names. Yes, her partner shouldn't have had this sort of dog but at the end of it, he took the dog to the vets to be euthanised. That must have been hard, no matter the circumstances.

Viviennemary · 11/02/2024 17:08

Obviously an immediate total ban on these dogs is necessary. .

BodyKeepingScore · 11/02/2024 17:09

Wolfiefan · 11/02/2024 10:50

@brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr because it is unnecessary. I have giant dogs. They are under control at all times. They are trained to walk past/around people when told to. They pose no risk. But they are big.

I am on blood thinners. Any bite could be really bad news. Also if I were knocked to the ground I could be killed. That did happen once before I started the medication. It was a golden retriever. Ban them too?

A golden retriever may bite. But I've not once heard of one killing a fully grown adult.

Isleoftights · 11/02/2024 17:11

Still being advertised for sale or 'adoption' on various 'XL bully' sites.

2boyzNosleep · 11/02/2024 17:11

All well and good euthanising them all but the owners are the sort to just get another dog that's similar.

I'm sure many of the XL bullies have owners that have no idea how to train or care for them properly.

And in terms of whether the problem lies with the owner or dog- these types of owners aren't exactly going to be buying a labrador or spaniel. They buy dogs to reflect how tough they are and a 'guard dog'.

All bull breeds should be banned. There’s no need for them at all. Any found without a muzzle should be removed and all should be neutered.

I used to be a dog lover, and still like them but there are just too many nowadays. I’ve just come back from a kids playground and there were three people walking with dogs around the playground despite a sign saying ‘no dogs’.

Dog ownership had become too fashionable and has gotten out of hand. Hoping the fashion wanes very quickly.

Harsh! I have a Frenchie who is the most passive and loving dog ever. She doesn't even bark, let alone growl. And when she's come across boisterous dogs she puts herself on the floor to show she is completely submissive and not interested in play fighting.

But you say to put her down!

@Winter2020 I can't be arsed to argue with thickos on the internet that are brainwashed by the media I'm sorry. Either do your research or stay off the internet.

Rainbowunicornsparkles · 11/02/2024 17:13

It doesn’t please me to learn of dogs being put to sleep. I don’t want them out of society because I’m evil and I like to think of them dying. The dogs are victims too and I get that. But too much. Far too much.

todayshappening · 11/02/2024 17:16

@pasteloblong duh! Yes she was cuddling them did they eat her? According to you and your witch hun all xls want to rip humans apart. You'll only see attacks from the badly bred, neglected and abused dogs. Maybe if you'd watched it you'd see that good bred American bully's don't pose a threat.

I find the 'I prefer dogs to people' thing rather irritating

Ive never seen or heard a dog judging someone for being a social housing tenant Or judge someones weight or size etc

Of course you havent, it's a dog, it doesn't have the cognitive capacity.

You don't get to decide who posts on the internet; plenty of thickos posting videos and nobody is stopping them either.

I was on that thread and no one was calling her that. They were all saying it was fine and rubbing their hands together.

I saw at least one post calling her/her partner a 'murderer'. There are some seriously stupid people here as well as elsewhere.

Anyway, MNHQ deleted it so best stop referencing it if you don't want this thread deleted as well.

How many people have to be injured or die before people see sense? Clearly, more than have already.

Oh like the dog walker...she was cuddling hers, lots of photos on social media...didn't stop it ripping her to pieces did it?

Honestly I cut my hand open with a saw, two fingers, I could have vomited from the pain, its was unbelievable.

The victims of these dogs are screaming for ten minuets whilst they are ripped apart by an animal with the strength of a lion. The pain, well it's not imaginable is it? Anyone with these dogs and children needs a bloody good head shake.

peakygold · 11/02/2024 17:23

The government didn't do enough, or go far enough to solve the problem of XL Bully dogs. They should be wiped off the face of the Earth immediately.

If we are being rude, then I would suggest it’s the people who own these XLB dogs that are the ones lacking in intelligence. I have yet to see or hear from one who isn’t a ‘thicko’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

wellhello24 · 11/02/2024 17:26

Another day another scrotey dog & its scrotey owner causing the death or maiming of a human being. And cue the scrotey defend the dog brigade with their “well mine would never do that” er, it doesn’t do it until it does. Just like all the others that did. You all want putting down with your dogs.

I have an xl, a cockapoo, cocker spaniel and a yorkie so yes us types do buy those breeds too 😏

Yes, it’s hard to imagine how painful and frightening it must be for the victims. But for witnesses too- many of whom have tried to intervene by striking the dogs with spades and sticks etc before realising there is absolutely nothing they can do to help the victim. I imagine witnessing something like that would have quite a profound impact on a person. I feel particularly for the young lad who witnessed his grandmother being killed at Jaywick last weekend.
