I just nodded off in an MRI scan - and they're noisy buggers! I am exhausted though.

I once, many years ago, fell asleep in a nightclub but there may have been cider involved that time!

I can barely fall asleep in bed, so no where fun for me!!
I cannot and have never napped unless really poorly either, even as a child

KimberleyClark · 09/02/2024 14:26

I nodded off in the hairdresser’s chair once while he was off mixing the colour. I was exhausted though.

Poppins2016 · 09/02/2024 14:27

In a railway station in Bangkok, standing up (I had no idea it was possible, but my eyes were closing and my head was nodding... I didn't actually fall asleep completely, though). The only other time I've been that tired/sleep deprived, I hallucinated.

Windydaysandwetnights · 09/02/2024 14:28

On the toilet in Milan. Posh hotel. Wasted.

Did have a plump pillow behind my head.
Made memo to self never to eat seafood abroad again..

BobbyBiscuits · 09/02/2024 14:31

I have fallen asleep at raves/parties right next to a massive speaker stack before a few times. I fell asleep in the entrance o the Subway in NY once, and I have slept in doorways, farmers' fields, inside a giant pipe on a building site...At work was a popular one, I'd hide in the cleaners cupboard and lock the door from the inside! Haha! I used to be able to sleep absolutely anywhere!

As a teenager I took part in a youth theatre weekend where we were told what show it would be at 7pm on Friday then produce it over 24 hours and perform it at 7pm on Saturday. I was OK for most of it but did lie down and doze for 15 minutes on the carpeted floor of the theatre café.

On the stairs of Notre Dame

a lovely woman shook my shoulder and asked if I needed help or a meal.

No I just needed some bloody sleep! I was there with my boyfriend celebrating my 21st & we hadn't barely stopped sightseeing for days!!

i was so embarassed.

Margaritasandmojitos · 09/02/2024 14:36

My dh fell asleep at a hockey game once. Slept right through the local team scoring. I fell asleep on the toilet when I was in the hospital. Other patient rang for the nurse to rescue me.

Piemam · 09/02/2024 14:38

I too did the falling asleep while standing-up, on a packed bus (exhausted working single mother). My knees jerking to stop me falling woke me up. Too tired to feel embarrassed.

MILTOBE · 09/02/2024 14:42

In an interview. I made the mistake of asking my potential boss what his job involved (the interview was to work as his secretary and I wanted someone who did an interesting job) - ffs he didn't stop banging on and on about the most boring job in the world and I fell asleep. You know when you're on a train and you jerk awake? That was me. I never heard whether I'd got the job {grin]

My son slept through an MRI, too. I couldn't believe. I really hope you get good results, OP.

Face down on my plate in a Wimpy early evening. Not drunk just very, very tired.

kcchiefette · 09/02/2024 14:44

In a hospital bed in the middle of labour🫣

Verv · 09/02/2024 14:45

The minute I turned 40 I also turned into a bugger for falling asleep on trains and at the cinema.

Not particularly weird, but if I wake myself up with a loud snort it can be pretty mortifying!

I could just eat a Wimpy right now! I used to love them.

Went to see Dr Feelgood at The Brook in Southampton. Put my head on the table and fell asleep.
Had had a very busy week 😂

My3loves · 09/02/2024 14:48

I once fell asleep while kissing my dp 🙈

Falling asleep during an MRI is more common than you'd think - my sister was really nervous before her MRI, but then dozed off in a matter of minutes! Apparently, although it's really noisy, the frequency/depth of the noise, along with having to lie completely still, just makes some people feel sleepy.

I did fall asleep at a nail bar once, while I was sitting there waiting for my gels to soak off. I'd had about three hours sleep in two and a half days, and I suddenly just thought 'I can't hold my head up any more' and went to sleep with my head on the table.

Also, I don't actually remember this myself, but my mum swears I fell asleep standing up once when I was about 11 or 12. I'd had two entirely sleepless nights on the trot due to being in pain with an injury, and then I had an appointment with the doctor, and she says I fell asleep while we were queuing at the reception to make my follow-up appointment. I don't think I can have been fully asleep, though?! Surely humans can't just sleep standing up like a horse does?!

SapphireEyes88 · 09/02/2024 14:50

Fell asleep at a Slipknot concert - mixture of pain meds, cider and exhaustion.
I also once fell asleep whilst teaching, another trainer was talking and his soothing voice sent me off! I have fibromyalgia and suffer really bad fatigue, sometimes I just hit that wall and that's it, so embarrassing at times!

chaos76 · 09/02/2024 14:50

I feel asleep on an mri scanner too ! in my defence i had been at the hospice all night looking after my sister. The MRI team gave me the most comfortable pair of soft scrubs to change into, im sure i was snoring but i did say i was knackered before they started im sure it gave them a laugh for the day

shellyleppard · 09/02/2024 14:52

Op....i fell asleep at a lee evans concert!!!! Eldest son was 6 weeks old and I was so bloody tired LoL. Now I fall asleep on the sofa but can hold a conversation!!!! 🤣🤣

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 09/02/2024 14:56

At work, standing up (leaning against something, I didn't fall over!)

missnevermind · 09/02/2024 14:56

I fell asleep in my child's classroom on one of those days where you stay and do a lesson with your child. While the teacher had the children on the carpet I sat at one of the desks listening, one parent at each set of tables about 6 of us. I dozed off. I have no excuse and no idea if the teacher or anybody else noticed but nobody said, anything to me.

Margaritavillee · 09/02/2024 14:56

I once fell asleep in a club. I was exhausted from an all nighter at work. Sat down with a drink and next thing I knew the manager was nudging me telling me they’d closed! I was mortified and my friend was not happy with me as she was trying to find me and thought something had happened to me

Stevesellsshells · 09/02/2024 14:58

Standing up at a gig. Hadn't even had a drink, was just exhausted.

PutItInTheFuckitBucketAndGetOnWithYourDay · 09/02/2024 15:03

I slept through most of 'Stomp', you know, the show with crashing bin lids and bits of wood being smacked on drainpipes
My BF at the time remarked, once I'd awoken from my slumber and was wiping the dribble from my chin 'Fucking hell! I'm impressed!'
