I just nodded off in an MRI scan - and they're noisy buggers! I am exhausted though.

I once, many years ago, fell asleep in a nightclub but there may have been cider involved that time!

On the stairs. Was very drunk. Woke up absolutely freezing - dreaming I was in my grave!

SparklyEyes1 · 09/02/2024 22:34

Dentist chair during filling, Twickenham during rugby Premiership final 2005, CT scanner. Can't bloody fall asleep in bed at night though.

SiliconHeaven · 09/02/2024 22:35

I woke up on a train at Exeter station. Was supposed to have disembarked in Andover.
Cost me a fortune, grr

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/02/2024 22:35

Half way through Michael Palin’s one man show in Manchester a few years ago.

sorry, Michael!

WessexWanderer · 09/02/2024 22:36

Attending Mass at St Peters, Rome.
My partner & I were interrailing so had been sleeping on overnight trains. We thought it would be an amazing experience to go to mass in St Peters and it was. But every time we sat down, I could feel myself nodding off only to wake up again when we had to stand.

Lectures at university.
Observing a head teacher's class during my pre pgce work experience.
In my then boyfriend's crotch on an airbed in his friend's parents conservatory. That was embarrassing.
On the floor of a tour bus.
Under staging at Glastonbury.

In that Batman film where that guy people think is hot was doing a silly voice.

Limbo2 · 09/02/2024 22:37

On my feet in the crowd for Red Hot Chilli Peppers at a festival when I was a student. Went straight from a night shift to the festival and by 10pm was exhausted, woke up and had two people propping me up.

Howareu · 09/02/2024 22:42

In a theatre, watching a children’s show. We were up in the circle and I must have felt comfortable and safe, but, would you believe it…I awoke to find the house lights up and a cast member actually performing in the circle(I can’t remember any details now - except my extreme embarrassment(and bewilderment!) mortifying!

Zippedydoodahday · 09/02/2024 22:44

I can fall asleep anywhere. Lectures,, boring training sessions, heavy metal gigs, at an African drumming workshop, the theatre. It is annoying, but also a useful skill.

Before kids I'd be asleep on the plane before takeoff and my husband would wake me when they said it was the last chance to use the loo before landing, including on long haul flights.

Clarich007 · 09/02/2024 22:50

On the back of our motorbike, on the motorway, travelling at 70mh !!

brusselsprout5 · 09/02/2024 23:02

Went to a show in Las Vegas. It was called 'Stomp' I think. They played music on dustbins & lids, pots & pans & other metal stuff while stomping/stamping & drumming. I was so jet lagged I slept through the noisiest show in history!

MrsDrakeRamoray · 09/02/2024 23:09

Back when I was at school, I fell asleep in English. It was the last period of the week so it must have been a tiring week!

Also fell asleep mid active labour!

On a packed train in Japan at rush hour.

In the cinema when watching the Henry C superman... during a date!

Oh and also on a rollercoaster ride! Again, on a date with the same guy, we had travelled through the night to go to Thorpe park. First ride was Saw and I fell asleep! Ride picture was epic! Thankfully we didn't buy it 🤣

JengaNonConfirming · 09/02/2024 23:23

Packing Calippos on a night shift at Birds Eye Walls 😁

VeronicaFranklin · 09/02/2024 23:42

A level results night, I feel asleep in a bush outside a theatre and woke up the next morning and went straight to my Saturday job in a hairdressers covered in dirt...!

moanyhole · 10/02/2024 00:03

MRI too.
Pumping after first born, woke up with two full bottles of breast milk and still holding the pump to my chest.
Ive crashed my car twice driving home from night duty, after the second time I changed jobs so no more nights

gano · 10/02/2024 00:07

I've fallen asleep in a nightclub too, many years ago, so maybe it's not that uncommon. I've also fallen asleep on the toilet, but I wasn't very well at the time.

Crucible · 10/02/2024 00:10

In a loud nightclub on a sofa at the back.

At an airport, that was a crazy one. A huge tropical storm had delayed our connecting flight through SE Asia, we were right near the planes, I was so jetlagged, I fell asleep across three seats. Woken by massive storm and plane noise, the ceilings were way way way above me and the walls next to me were glass. Took me a good few minutes to remember and work our where I was. Bloody disconcerting waking up there.

Containerhome · 10/02/2024 00:11

I completely passed out when I was about 10 on the living room floor infront of the TV. My mum gave me piriton as my allergies to cats where awful then. I fell asleep so hard for about 3 hours. I don't know why no-one moved me, or put a pillow under my head or a blanket.

Beenalongtime · 10/02/2024 01:04

A long time ago when I was frantically revising all night for A levels (having done little work for 2 years), I feel asleep in the front row of the balcony at Hammersmith Odeon watching Motorhead, which is now thought to have been one of the loudest concerts of all time. The balcony is sprung and several hundred metal heads headbanging literally rocked me to sleep. Missed the whole thing.

MrsFezziwig · 10/02/2024 01:09

@Eeepsh I was an MRI radiographer. Loads of people fall asleep in the MRI scanner. Probably due to the repetitive noise and the fact that you don’t often get the chance to have a lie down during the day.

bradpittsbathwater · 10/02/2024 03:26

I often nod off having my hair or my nails done.

Pipou · 10/02/2024 03:28

In an MRI machine, at the front of an Indie gig and at work.

fluffyduvetcover · 10/02/2024 04:49

Not me but I was being interviewed for a LA job by a senior manager in Education. He fell asleep. I was so flummoxed I carried on talking while sort of pretending not to look at him. He woke with a start and assumed we'd finished and I didn't correct him. I got the job!

SunflowerSeeds123 · 10/02/2024 05:57

In a packed club in Amsterdam in the late nineties. Straight off a night shift, onto the Eurostar to Brussels, then the IC train to Amsterdam to meet friends. They partied hard that night. I did not.
