I just nodded off in an MRI scan - and they're noisy buggers! I am exhausted though.

I once, many years ago, fell asleep in a nightclub but there may have been cider involved that time!

Years ago had been to see Pink Floyd at Knebworth, took ages to get back into London and had to sleep in a tube station. I was only 15 and very scared ! Not sure if that would be allowed nowadays.

BetteDavisChin · 09/02/2024 15:05

I fell asleep on a bench at Eastleigh station waiting room, waiting for my connecting train. I was 17, it was pitch dark late at night, and the station was deserted. I woke up as I heard footsteps. A man stopped at the door and stared at me.

I was wide awake after that.

At the dentists, having an abscess drained with no anaesthetic. It was just a couple of weeks after giving birth to an apparently insatiable insomniac, and the dentist had a gift for talking in a relaxing way while he worked without expecting any answers.

DH, who'd been left literally holding the baby definitely had the worst of it.Grin

Gobolina · 09/02/2024 15:06

At Insomnia in Ayia Napa 😂
Sitting up in bed with my eyes open.
While having my eyebrows microbladed.

PicklesAndTequila · 09/02/2024 15:07

A lawn in front of the Backbackers hostel I was staying in, which was on the main road.
I only woke up when the sprinklers came on.
Many alcohols may hay been involved...

UnctuousUnicorns · 09/02/2024 15:07

I nearly fell asleep sitting on the edge of the stage, leaning against the speaker, at a venue where I was waiting to see a singer I really like. I'd travelled down on an overnight bus to see him. He was worth the journey. 🙂

ArcticBells · 09/02/2024 15:07

Standing up on a packed train. My knees briefly gave way and jolted me awake thankfully

WingingItSince1973 · 09/02/2024 15:11

Many moons ago when I was much younger I worked as an office junior type position. I was always tired. One day I nipped down to the loo and put the seat down and sat there for a few mins to have a very quick nap. Woke up ages later couldn't feel my legs so when I tried to walk I couldn't. Had been gone over an hour and the other office staff looked for me but just assumed I must have been on loo with a dodgy tum. I can still fall asleep anywhere. Turns out I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue 😂😬

spottydinosaur · 09/02/2024 15:11

Wimbledon tennis. In fairness no tennis was being played, they closed the roof of centre court with rain then they have to wait for 45 minutes for the air to circulate. It was so stuffy and probably a mix of a ton of wine I fell asleep!

There was an important meeting in work & a really junior member of the team was begging all week to come to the meeting. She sat down & fell asleep in the direct line of sight of the CEO 😂 we all joked she was so exhausted from all the begging is why she slept!

ScarletPower · 09/02/2024 15:11

I've fallen asleep sat up outside a pub in Lanzarote this week. I asked for an iced coffee but they brought me an Irish coffee and it was a bit strong 😁

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 09/02/2024 15:38

Dentist's chair during root canal. I could feel nothing, had this weird plastic dam thing in my mouth and some sort of plastic peg wedging my jaw open. So hardly comfortable but it took hours !

PuttingDownRoots · 09/02/2024 15:43

During bell ring practice, in the bell tower. I was recovering from concussion though. I fell asleep on a lot of odd places that week!

DH wins though IMO... he fell asleep while hiking. And continued hiking while asleep. (Army exercise, they had been on the go for over 24hrs at that point)

Oceangirl82 · 09/02/2024 15:50

Another dentist one, asleep for over two hours while having a root canal, thought the nurse was joking when she said it was all done - it seemed so quick!

LiamNeesonIsADerryGirl · 09/02/2024 15:53

Arsenal football stadium - the most tedious 90 minutes of my life.
In the cinema watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (not intentionally, was really looking forward to seeing it!)

DaftyLass · 09/02/2024 15:57

Face down on the grass, at a service station.
I had driven across a bit of Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick in one shot, and was foolish tired.
I lay down on the grass, slept for an hour, got back up and drove the rest of the way to the ferry in Nova Scotia

InMySpareTime · 09/02/2024 16:00

On stage (thankfully not during a performance but as stage crew during a long installation)
Outside a tube station as a teenager after I misplaced my friend in a hedge (another story entirely)
During a water puppet show in Hanoi (we were all very jet lagged)

I can sleep more or less anywhere. One of the few perks of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

swiftrunner1 · 09/02/2024 16:01

Dozed off on the back of a motorbike taxi in Bali after an anti-histamine injection.. didn't believe they actually caused drowsiness until I had to pinch myself to keep awake on the way home from hospital😆

Applebeard · 09/02/2024 16:03

Got on Tube at Northolt. Meant to get off at Leytonstone.

Fell asleep. Woke up in Gants Hill.

Got back on a westbound train. Fell asleep. Woke up in West Ruislip.

Got on Eastbound. Fell asleep. Woke up in Gants Hill.

Got back on a westbound train. Fell asleep. Woke up in Northolt.

Got on Eastbound. Fell asleep. Woke up in Epping. Someone had nicked one of my trainers (WTF?).

Got back on a westbound train. Fell asleep. Woken up in Bank by a cleaner.

Tubes had finished. 90 minute walk home in torrential rain.

ohthehokey · 09/02/2024 16:04

I fell asleep leaning against the sound desk at a new model army gig, surrounded by people jumping up and down wearing clogs on a wooden floor. I still don't know how, I must've been extremely tired to sleep through that.

InMySpareTime · 09/02/2024 16:04

At the top of the stairs after putting an antihistamine cream on my arms. Turns out it's only for small patches not entire limbs.

sprigatito · 09/02/2024 16:05

I'm a non-sleeper, I can't even drop off on a long coach journey.

DH on the other hand... he has narcolepsy and has fallen asleep in some barely plausible situations. Standing up at the ironing board, halfway up the stairs, on a pub toilet.

cerisepanther73 · 09/02/2024 16:06

In middle of heavy metal rock 🤘 band in alternative music venue pub

CrispsnDips · 09/02/2024 16:07

In the desert next to a camp fire and a sing-a-long session with a guitarist 😳 in fact I was only 2ft away from both !

Buffypaws · 09/02/2024 16:09

Think I also fell asleep at Wimbledon this year. During Djokovic i think. Also on the first commuter train out of London with a can of beer in my hand. Woke up and there was a puddle of beer down the carriage. Mortifying.

Sahara123 · 09/02/2024 16:10

Front row of the cinema watching Harry Potter. I was too close and felt a bit queasy so I shut my eyes. Also on a train which isn’t too unusual but I woke up to find I was asleep on the bloke next to me, and he was asleep on me ! Complete strangers 🤣
My husband fell asleep in the middle of the screaming crowds on the floor section of a Steps concert, he was that bored
