To want my own duvet?

Have no issue sharing a bed with DH (despite the snoring)
But
Hate sharing the duvet... wake up too cold or too hot

Does anyone else share a bed but not a duvet?

I don’t - but I have part Danish in laws and everyone does there. I can see the appeal.

LightSwerve · 26/01/2024 21:16

This is quite a common solution especially where people have different temperature preferences.

SmallestInTheClass · 26/01/2024 21:17

Most couples in Sweden. It's seen as completely normal there. Go for it!

tiredmama23 · 26/01/2024 21:17

Yes! We do this because the slightest movement of the duvet from DP rolling over wakes me, and also I like to tuck the duvet snugly around me for sleep, which is much easier to do with one each. Works for us. 😀

mynameiscalypso · 26/01/2024 21:18

My parents have always had a duvet each. I really need to start doing this as DH steals it in the night.

Saltysnack2003 · 26/01/2024 21:19

My parents have always done this. I can completely see the benefits. Plus the duvet covers are much more manageable. I have a super king duvet cover and I hate everything about changing the bed as it is so big & cumbersome.

Jessforless · 26/01/2024 21:19

We have a duvet and a comforter over the top… and up having one each and it’s perfect. But bed still looks nice when we make it.

RosieGirl27 · 26/01/2024 21:19

me and dp have our own duvets, mines a summer one year round he has a winter one year round it’s a game changer

Mumaway · 26/01/2024 21:21

My DH wants to go scandi style with a duvet each, because he likes a nest and I like it tucked in tight. Just haven't got funds for all new bedding atm

FloofCloud · 26/01/2024 21:21

Peri-Menopausal me needs a very light duvet so we do often have different duvets

NinaGeiger · 26/01/2024 21:21

My parents lived in Norway when they were first married and for years had 2 single duvets on the bed instead of 1 big double.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/01/2024 21:21

Very sensible solution.

Nitgel · 26/01/2024 21:22

It works well, I have a longer single duvet and dh has standard one. It's comfy but you can still be together😄

FloofCloud · 26/01/2024 21:22

... I'd go with what gives you the best nights sleep rather than what's is thought to be correct

swingtowin · 26/01/2024 21:22

When we used to ski on the continent, probably Austria, you used to have a Swedish double bed which was like a large double and had two duvets. So big bed snd own duvet - bliss!

Figmentofmyimagination · 26/01/2024 21:22

I started doing this the summer before last because I couldn’t cope with my husband’s love of ‘heavy’ duvets. I splashed out on a 13 tog single for him and a 4 tog for me - from the White Company. Expensive but worth it. All through the summer we are happy and then in the winter we have a ‘normal’ double, to which he adds his 13 tog on his side.

Bobcat246 · 26/01/2024 21:22

When I went to Iceland all the hotel rooms had two single duvets on king/double beds. Slept so well!

surlycurly · 26/01/2024 21:23

Absolutely normal in lost if parts of Europe. Buy two singles of whatever temperature/ tog and you'll both be happy!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 26/01/2024 21:24

Yes. Game changer.

SeaToSki · 26/01/2024 21:24

DH and I do. He is a furnace and I am an icicle, so different tog duvets and we are both happy

Coffeesnob11 · 26/01/2024 21:26

I tried this with my ex and he managed to steak both duvets in his sleep rather than the usual one. I hope it works for you better.

WiddlinDiddlin · 26/01/2024 21:27

Yup...

He has a middle weight double, I have a thin kingsize and a hefty double. I like to roll up tight in it, tuck it between my knees, sleep like a burrito.

He likes it round his waist and is like a radiator to sleep near. We sleep SO much better now we have the duvets that suit us and aren't sharing!

NeedToChangeName · 26/01/2024 21:28

My bro does this. I think it's a great idea

RandomMess · 26/01/2024 21:29

Have had single duvets for years so much better!

stoptryingtomakefetchhappen · 26/01/2024 21:33

Yes! In the winter months we have a duvet each. I love being able to curl up in it, hug it etc.. it’s a bit bulky having two on the bed though so I’m considering getting a super king duvet for our king bed which might also be a bit more aesthetically pleasing!
