To think husband is being a twat

This afternoon as soon as we got home husband decided to go and play on his PlayStation. Fine.

As soon as he was finished, he then came in the other room and instantly said he was putting the football on meaning the Netflix show the kids were watching had to be turned off. I said that's not fair, he can't have the tv the second he wants it (unless nobody was using it of course).

He then goes upstairs in a huff and watches it up there for 3 hours. In this time, he texts me to check what's for dinner. I Then decide fuck that, I'm not cooking for him so I made kids their own food. He then strops "fine I'll
Order pizza". I said he's being ridiculous. He's an adult and can cook considering we've just spent £130 on food shopping! We also have a car to fix and various other unplanned expenses..

Our child is now in a flap as one of his toys isn't working to which his dad/my husband says "well you need a new one but you'll need to wait 5 years since nobody is allowed to spend money in this house".

He's being a dick isn't he????

Yes he is!

Tinkerbyebye · 14/01/2024 20:01

Yes, a very childish one

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 14/01/2024 20:03

Sounds like you are both being a bit twatty with each other
He's a grown man, if he wants to order pizza because you're not making him food because you're pissed off at him then he can (unless he doesn't work and it's your money)

PonyPatter44 · 14/01/2024 20:05

Of course he's being a dick. Is he always like this?

Iknowtheyareusefulstorage · 14/01/2024 20:06

Yes - he is having a tantrum.
Maybe he would like to cook something from the food shop and make you dinner as well. It doesn't sound like he has had a very arduous afternoon.

Bythefireside · 14/01/2024 20:06

He ignores his family all day watching tv and playing games and wants to know what he’s being made for dinner…. And she’s in the wrong?!

hellsBells246 · 14/01/2024 20:08

He's being a total dick. He should have waited until the kids were finished watching TV before watching his show. He's not more important than anyone else.

Sounds like you have 3 dc, op...

Yep!

Boatshoes · 14/01/2024 20:09

Total man child. Does he have form for this sort of petulant behaviour? Ignore him.

hellsBells246 · 14/01/2024 20:09

I meant, @Bythefireside , that I agreed with you, not that OP was in the wrong!

Pinkpinkplonk · 14/01/2024 20:09

Yes- he’s a having a mantrum!!

kisstheblarney · 14/01/2024 20:12

I think texting your partner from upstairs whilst watching football means you can only be a maximum of 15 years old!

Sorry why should she be making food for him? Why isn’t he making food for her?

And why is he allowed to avoid his parental responsibilities for nearly the entire day and leave OP to do it all?

Don't be mean to the under 15s. Neither of my two would ever have been this rude.

Fionaville · 14/01/2024 20:16

Yes he is. If its out if character for him, just put it down to him having a dickish day and forget about it tomorrow. If it's the norm, then you have a problem.

Snowydaysfaraway · 14/01/2024 20:17

Dh? Surely you mean a teen ds?

whatatool · 14/01/2024 20:18

He's a twat.
Time for him to grow up or fuck off.

HellsToilet · 14/01/2024 20:19

No phone or Playstation for a month seems an apt punishment.

This genuinely me laugh out loud!

I think my teenagers text me once to ask what was for dinner...... they didn't do it again!

Yep. He sounds like another child. But the most annoying one

dapsnotplimsolls · 14/01/2024 20:23

Total twat.

Is this a one-off or is he often like this?

Wendysfriend · 14/01/2024 20:25

Why couldn't he watch the football on the TV he was gaming on ?

Liababy · 14/01/2024 20:26

I mean if my DH wanted a game on a console, then went to watch the footie and text to ask what was for dinner I wouldnt think it warrants excluding him from whatever I was cooking. Same as if I went to the gym, then I came home and caught up on a few episodes of something I like, then text my DH if I knew he was cooking downstairs to ask what was for dinner. I certainly don't think he would exclude me.

But maybe I can't see your view because I love the football too and we all watch it in our house including the kids.

14Times · 14/01/2024 20:28

He sounds revolting, OP. It’s bad enough that any grown man comes straight home and plays computer games, but the rest of the post was far worse! Does he have any redeeming features or has he always been a spoilt, lazy manchild?

redlightgreenlightt · 14/01/2024 20:30

I didn't exclude him. I chose to not cook the originally planned meal, kids had batch food from freezer and I had leftovers (which also contained enough for him)

I'm not mad he wanted to watch football. That's fine. But you don't get to turn off what other people are watching the second you walk in the room because it's not what you want to watch...

He's not usually 'this' much of a twat but he definitely doesn't pull his weight as much as he should
