Name changed as regular poster.

Usually win between £100 and £250 per month in Premium Bonds with nearly full holdings.

Just checked January's numbers and we've won £1000!

Anyone else?

AIBU to think they're a good investment?!

Nothing for me but I had 50 last November I hope I get another win obviously.

I've had £5k worth since July last year and not won a penny yet. I'm holding out for the big one 😉

@NCNC4 I've only had mine since 2020 and have had a few small wins (nothing more than £100) but last year was definitely the most i've had. I started them because interest rates rates were so low I was getting nothing from savings accounts or ISA. It might be a bit more lucrative now in savings (I've just opened a fixed rate for 12 months savings account but the max you can put in is £300 per month).

The odds of any bond winning in each draw are 21000 to one, so for full holdings 50,000 times 12 chances in a year = 600,000

Average luck would win you 28 or 29 prizes a year and the more you have the closer your return will be to the average return of 4.65%
You'd have to be astoundingly unlucky to win nothing for a year and the potential loss of 0.35% interest is definitely worth the monthly excitement of maybe winning big.

But the maximum you can put into an ISA is £20K.

Yes. Which is why I said 'built up to' and 'over three years'in my PP.

Martin Lewis gives a good explanation of why the 4.65% return is misleading.
