Tell me I'm BU - neighbour puts up exact same Xmas lights...

We have the same house, but mirror image. Our next door neighbours have put up the exact same Christmas lights as us in the exact same place, the day after ours went up.

Saw the old git earlier and he avoided me.

Tell me I'm being unreasonable!?

I agree that this must look better in your street. In our village the whole main street has the same/virtually identical lighting up. It looks really lovely

I bet that looks quite nice! I wouldn't really mind, I'd just think it was a bit weird. I saw some neighbours who had done this yesterday funnily enough and thought it looked good.

What kind of lights are they. If they’re a standard string of warm white lights, then I wouldn’t be too surprised. Where the lights suit your house will also suit his house. If he’s copied your inflatable dinosaur, projector, and multi coloured Ho Ho Ho sign on your roof then he’s almost certainly copied your lights. Not that there much you can do about it.

I think I would love that because they would match. If this is the only thing that he's done I don't think it's reasonable to call him an "old git." I also doubt he was avoiding you because he put up the same lights as you; surely if he felt obligated to avoid you because of that he would have just not bothered with the same lights. Who wants to spend a whole month having to think about avoiding their neighbor?

Not as co-ordinated as the street I think it is in the US where they all have a giant inflatable santa, the exact same one house after house after house. I love it.

there is a street near us that club together and coordinate all the Xmas lights for the houses. It looks so good

Not seeing the problem? There's a row of four houses near us that all have the same lights every year and they look lovely.

I imagine it looks much nicer than a random mish-mash like some of the horrors round our way. As above if I saw it I'd be impressed by your co-operation and planning.
