Tell me I'm BU - neighbour puts up exact same Xmas lights...

We have the same house, but mirror image. Our next door neighbours have put up the exact same Christmas lights as us in the exact same place, the day after ours went up.

Saw the old git earlier and he avoided me.

Tell me I'm being unreasonable!?

Are we talking like-for-like monstrous displays that give off more light than the floodlights at Wembley Stadium combined with giant inflatable Winnie the Pooh’s in Santa hats?

if so, you’re both entirely unreasonable.

If it’s just a nice bit of light festive twinkling, give your head a wobble and start worrying about things that actually matter.

I hope he's sitting in his chair, laptop tuned in to MN and laughing to himself thinking, What can this old git do next to wind her up????

Come and visit my street, marvel at the bins that have been left out for three years and counting, gasp with wonder at the litter and the flytipping and then go home to look at the lovely lights and enjoy them. I can't even put a Christmas wreath on my door as it would be stolen or vandalised

If it wouldn't out me, I'd post a photo of my street. Grin It's bin day tomorrow so it's at its best. Most of the bins are overflowing and towards of the other end of the street there's a flytipping area.

We have an unwritten rule with our nearby neighbours it's all warm white lights😂
The 'boys' all put them up together in the morning, we then go to the local pub. Switch on is on 1 Dec and this year it was an evening met out the front for a coordinated switch on with a few drinks!

We had a street local to us where one house had an inflatable Homer Simpson in a Santa hat, and their neighbour had gone out and acquired a matching inflatable Marge Simpson.

It always did make me smile until Marge's owners moved away and broke up the couple.

Ha! I couldn’t even copy my own lights, how would someone run out and source the exact same lights and get them up within 24hrs?

We’ve got a bigger tree and more garlands this year so needed more lights, but goodness knows where my first lot of lights were from - I’ve got similar-ish but not the same, after scouring the Internet for hours. If your neighbour has some kind of a skill for immediately sourcing exact replicas of lights, send him round.

That makes me think of when people buy two pets that don't live the same length of time, and give them 'pair names'.

It's great at first, but it gets a bit weird when you end up with Bubble & Garfunkel Grin

My neighbour has a the same style house as me (detached also) and I thought lights outside wouldn’t be possible until I saw theirs. I went outside whilst they were putting them up and told them how beautiful they looked and asked if they minded me getting the same ones for my house

they were over the moon that we would be matching and even offered to hang them for me, as well as asking me if they could put some others around our boundary fence that separates our driveways, I told them to go for it

I think it looks lovely to match
