To want revenge on my neighbours?

For deciding to have a loud party until 2am? Not the first time. One of the other neighbours must have called the council or something as somebody turned up to tell them to keep it down (I couldn't quite see who, didn't look like a police car).

Cul de sac of ten houses. Wasn't so much the music as the large amount of people spilling from their front door, shouting and swearing in the street until gone 2. My bedroom faces the front.

I'd quite like to find a way of waking them up now, without waking my other neighbours who are probably also knackered.

AIBU? And... any suggestions? Without getting myself into trouble.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Have you never had a party or been a bit noisy leaving one?

countvoncount · 26/11/2023 06:34

What a great plan... re -annoy the street at 6.30am.
Don't be ridiculous and go back to sleep.

I have. But I've never let it spill on to the street at that volume, this wasn't just people leaving.

Ummm... yeah. That's why I said about thinking what I could do without disturbing everyone else. I'm really fucked off. They're a complete nuisance, it's becoming a regular thing.

Go and ring their doorbell

Jeffjefftyjeff · 26/11/2023 06:42

I am totally with you on the street spilling being annoying. Who needs to listen to a shouty chat at 1 in the morning? My neighbours (and their young adult off spring) are good people though, and don’t have parties that often, so i’d never be annoyed enough to call the authorities

SwedishSchnauzer · 26/11/2023 06:43

go round at 8am and talk to them about the issue.

FrenchandSaunders · 26/11/2023 06:43

How long ago was the last party?

Couple of weeks. Seems to be roughly every other weekend.

But you’d get a better response if you went round this afternoon and politely asked them in the future to keep the party inside and leave quietly

FrenchandSaunders · 26/11/2023 06:49

Oh that’s way too often. If it was every few months I’d say just let it go, but that’s taking the piss!

CatOnTheCludgy · 26/11/2023 06:50

8am mow the lawn!

Malificent1 · 26/11/2023 06:54

Just go and jab their doorbell a few times and then go back to bed. Rinse and repeat every time you feel annoyed again.

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 26/11/2023 06:56

I understand exactly how you feel!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 26/11/2023 06:57

Sorry, I read the OP wrong.

QueenBean22 · 26/11/2023 06:59

Oh that’s so inconsiderate. I’d be feeling the same as you right now

jemenfous37 · 26/11/2023 07:01

Dear god. Just go round and talk to them. It isn't difficult

Hallmark1234 · 26/11/2023 07:03

Gather all of the other neighbours together and start carol singing below their window!

Loubelle70 · 26/11/2023 07:06

I had this..i just posted a letter next day, saying that i don't mind anyone having a party but could they turn music down please and to let neighbours know when they're having subsequent parties.

If they had done it again without this i would have contacted council etc

QueenBean22 · 26/11/2023 07:07

Is the house directly adjoining yours? To be honest I wouldn’t feel comfortable speaking to drunk rowdy idiots

orangegato · 26/11/2023 07:08

Give us some petty ideas. I’d park encroaching their drive or something. Selfish **s.

Joevanswell · 26/11/2023 07:22

Neighbour kept mowed his lawn at 11pm when my dc were trying to sleep. I allowed the children on the trampoline at 7am and an alfresco breakfast. Yes I am petty but I have no other close neighbours and mine are awful. It definitely made me feel better plus it stopped the late night gardening

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 26/11/2023 07:30

YABU. Of course they were shits to have such a noisy party but if you wake them up, it will only ramp up the tension.

I'd go and have a polite word later.

monstrousindecision · 26/11/2023 07:30

Had same problem with recurrent partiers. I basically became unhinged. Used to lie in bed dreaming up revenge plans like blaring loud music through their letterbox etc. Luckily they moved. I feel your pain

Petallove · 26/11/2023 07:39

Trumpet through their letterbox?
