When we know how bad the environment is how much plastic and stuff ends up in land fill how poor the workers conditions are why are we supporting them. I see so many people doing big hauls of stuff. I know it’s cheap and maybe it’s all people can afford by you buy cheap you buy twice.

It doesn’t matter if it’s just once. If everyone flew ‘just once in 5 years’ think of the impact on the planet.

If you say that people are never just ‘one person buying’ from Shein and Temu, then the same applies to flying right?

Indont really care if you go abroad - but it’s just fixing annoying to see hypocrites berate other people for their life choices. Emitting greenhouse gases vs buying dining chair covers that will last a lifetime. You’re in no position to have a go at anyone

I’m also Hmm about hthis assertion that people are buoying things ‘daily’ from Shein or doing 100 clothing hauls every month. Is that happening or is that just in your head? Has anyone even ever said that?

Coats are a bad example.
I bought a beautiful secondhand Hobbs wool coat on the day before my father's funeral (it was really cold). £25.
Leggings, t shirts etc. better example.

I am not attacking anyone buying dining chair covers, just baffled it is a thing people think they "need".

I cleary don't spend enough time thinking about dining chairs! I just plonk my bum down on our 10 year old wooden ones and give them a quick wipe and polish now and then (bought second hand for a tenner each from a junk shop reduce and recycle fans).

I mean you don’t NEED a holiday after all.

This is the problem with people who shame others for buying cheap - happy to expect others to do their but to the nth degree but not expect me not to have my holiday abroad! Again links in with the snobbery aspect.

Caring about the environment, labour practice and wastefulness has nothing to do with snobbery.

They're two different thugs.

The type of person who declares they would never buy someone else's cast offs and doesn't care about the planet and other people is way more snobbish and insufferable than someone who simply questions your choices but ultimately let's you get on with it

Of course it does.

Only the bargain hunters are ever vilified for not researching their retailers in depth. Plenty of dodgy high end retailers are immoral and they are never mentioned or considered when these conversations happen.

You’re ‘baffled’? REALLY? 🤣

It’s not that baffling. It’s just semantics. I will say “I need to get a new blanket for the bed” when really I could do without I just want one. It’s just semantics. Bafflement can desist.

This post is still going? Sheesh.
Seems to me everyone's convinced they are right. Let it die.
