EVERYONE is a drug dealer

Bear with me…

I have name changed for this for seemingly obvious reasons. Yesterday, I was at the hairdressers getting my usual weekly services chatting as usual to my hairdresser - who every single week I’m there is dating a new drug dealer. She is very much a “glam” type. Neither of these things are uncommon in my city.

She then turns to the woman next to me and starts chatting about said woman’s partner and when he’s going to be on day release from prison and how he’s getting XYZ done cosmetically but it’s ok because the prison thinks he has a business so the money won’t be from dealing. (In other words, he’s still very much running an enterprise from behind bars). Again not uncommon in my area.

it got me thinking, in my city almost everyone has some sort of connection to dealing drugs. at all levels. I’m not exaggerating, I can’t think of a single person that doesn’t either deal themselves or is close friends with someone who does. All the women are dressed head to toe in designer, surgery, etc. the males have big cars, watches, designer clothes. It’s quite rare to see anyone under 30 without this aesthetic.

the 35+ generation maybe not so much but I would say all people I know in this age bracket absolutely have ties to someone who is a dealer.

before anyone comments that people may have the money for this aesthetic through legitimate reasons, I myself have a “flash” car, designer clothes, cosmetic procedures etc. but through running businesses and my partner being a well payed professional. I’m talking specifically about people that I know are dealers, and when I was thinking about it last night I was actually baffled how there seems to be so many.

PS I know there are people that work to have what they have, I’m talking about my city specifically being particularly dense with criminal activity and I’m wondering if it’s a regional thing or not. Where you are, is this the case?

What city are you talking about?

I don’t know any drug dealers.

Diolchynfawr · 04/11/2023 09:58

I think you need to reconsider the people you hang out with 😳

whiteroseredrose · 04/11/2023 09:58

I don't know any drug dealers either

TheDandyLion · 04/11/2023 09:58

Well at least it's keeping the cash in your local economy.

Harrysutton · 04/11/2023 09:59

Are you in the north west?

I am aware of a lot of drug dealers in the town where I live but don’t live in that circle.

YourNameGoesHere · 04/11/2023 09:59

You need to get better friends if everyone you know is somehow connected to drug dealers. You sound like you live in some sort of crap soap.

TeenLifeMum · 04/11/2023 09:59

Maybe hang out in better places? According to our town fb page the town is “full of drug dealers” but I’ve never met one. I don’t hang out in those kind of places.

NotSuchASmugMarried · 04/11/2023 09:59

What City?

It's definately the company you keep.

Have you thought about joining the Rotary Club - probably no drug dealers there.

Melonportal · 04/11/2023 09:59

Sounds more like the type of people you associate with. I don't know any drug dealers.

SwirlyShirly · 04/11/2023 10:00

To my knowledge, i manage to not associate myself with any drug dealers.

NugatoryMatters · 04/11/2023 10:01

This is only indicative of your social circle. Seriously. Regardless which city you are in.

if I base things on the people I encounter on a daily basis, no one is involved in the drug industry. Literally no one. Unless you count the higher than average number of doctors, dentists and pharmacists I know.

My hairdresser is a very nice woman with two kids and her husband is an electrician. She has very nice hair though and always looks very put together (unlike me). None of her colleagues are talking about drug dealers or imprisoned boyfriends either. Maybe try a different hairdressers.

LaCerbiatta · 04/11/2023 10:01

I would move....

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 04/11/2023 10:01

Is this Liverpool, OP?

(no shade from me at all if it is, I LOVE Liverpool and lived there for a lot of my 20s but it sounds a bit familiar).

Not everyone is a drug dealer though (although a surprising amount of people are customers!). I would reconsider my circle, lol!

LickChit · 04/11/2023 10:01

I don’t think you’re going to get many posters saying ‘yeah, me too - all my friends are drug dealers’. I think this is about who you mix with.

Dustpantsandbush · 04/11/2023 10:01

You’re keeping the wrong company.

CommonOrNot · 04/11/2023 10:01

I don’t hang out with them. I can guarantee if you randomly selected 20 people from any area in my city every single one of them would either be a dealer or know one. It really isn’t to do with you you hang around with.

I’m not “well known” and I wouldn’t imagine any of them know me, but I could list many off the top of my head.

Yes it is the north west

Chemenger · 04/11/2023 10:02

If everyone is a drug dealer then who are they selling to? This is like me saying most people have a PhD because I work in a university and all my colleagues do. You associate with drug dealers so you think it’s normal.

TryAgainWithFeeling · 04/11/2023 10:02

Ive never known anyone who deals. Even when I moved in different circles and knew a lot of people who used drugs , I still didn’t know anyone who dealt in them.

Surely the number of drug dealers in the country must be reasonably well spread out, you can’t have everyone in one location dealing. There’s still a basic model of supply and demand!

VerrryNice · 04/11/2023 10:02

The druggy types that I know are unemployed and living hand to mouth and definitely not glam surgery types.

ZiriForGood · 04/11/2023 10:02

If everyone was a dealer, who are they dealing to?
It sounds improbable, unless they deal to each other in some kind of money making perpetuum mobile.

HJ40 · 04/11/2023 10:02

So what did the police say when you reported these people?

Manadou · 04/11/2023 10:03

Don't you be letting me down the banks, like, wack.

I really doubt that 20 random people who live in your city would all have strong ties to a drug dealer. Hmm You obviously don't so why assume everyone else but you does? You sound a bit crackers to be honest.

VeridicalVagabond · 04/11/2023 10:04

Nope, one of my friends used to sell weed in college but that's about it lmao.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/11/2023 10:04

I live in Sheffield with adult children.

None of them dress or act as you describe. Nor do their partners. They live in normal houses wear normal clothes and drive crappy cars as they are young adults. They would be seen dead hanging out with people you describe or wear any of the clothes you describe. If they mention Botox or filler it’s only in a derisory manner.

So I guess it must be who you hang out with.

And my hairdresser is male, been married 25 year with 3 teen kids.
