Fleece bed linen. Just no…

Looking to get our teenage daughter some new Christmas bedding. Everywhere I look there seems to be an awful lot of winter bedding which is fleecy. 100% polyester.

is it just me who finds this a bit gross? I can’t get past how hot & sweaty it would be lying under a fleece duvet cover! Imagine how often it would need washed! 😮
I get that it would be cosy to crawl under at first, but to sleep under it all night?????
Yes? No?

I love mine it's so cosy, I have the whole set duvet, sheet and pillowcase. I started using mine a few weeks ago when we had the cold spell and I also sleep in fleece pj bottoms and wear my fluffy jumper to bed and I still don't sweat 🤣
I have no thyroid so blame that for been cold especially when tired so fleece bedding is great for me.

Auntiehero · 27/10/2023 19:32

I love fleecy/teddy bedding but I can't have it because my DH hates it, he sweats loads at night and insists on a 4.5 toy duvet all year round. I got some lovely Christmas bedding on the Furn website the other day, they had a few that I think would be suitable for teens.

Createausername1970 · 27/10/2023 19:36

We saw some in Lidl yesterday. Fleecy strands. I wasn't sure but hubby mentioned the strands and sweaty crevices and I decided against it.

Ponoka7 · 27/10/2023 19:38

Everywhere I've looked they have cotton/brushed cotton Christmas bedding. For those of us who sleep naked and don't have heating on, fleece bedding is cozy.

itsgettingweird · 27/10/2023 19:41

Sound bliss in practice to get over that first feeling of cold cotton sheets!

But yes brushed cotton is lovely.

I put my electric fleece blanket on to warm by bottom sheet and then climb under it and it stays on for an hour total.

I hate being cold but also hate being too hot!!!!

Last night I slept with my bottom half under the electric blanket and the fan blowing on my upper half and the window slightly open. (I don't wear pjs)

Bloody peri!!!!

WaitingfortheTardis · 27/10/2023 19:48

We don't have any but I like the idea of them, I've never been a sweaty person though, only on the very warmest of summer nights have I ever felt sweaty at bedtime. We've got our brushed cotton bedding on now and it's just right, but when it gets colder I'd love something extra cosy.

DoYouAgree · 27/10/2023 22:11

I'd have fleecy duvet bedding but only brushed cotton sheets as I would get unbearably hot.

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/10/2023 22:15

No polyester of any kind anywhere near my bed - no, no, no! Sweating just thinking about it!

Teder · 27/10/2023 22:17

I think it depends on your body temperature. I get super freezing at night. On very cold nights, I love my “teddy fleece bedding.”

thenightsky · 27/10/2023 22:18

I only used them once. Pulling them out of the tumble drier whilst the lightening flashed around and gave me shocks up my arms was enough to say no, never again.

girlfriend44 · 27/10/2023 22:20

The Teddy bear bedding is great. Soft warm and cosy and perfect for Winter.

You don't have to buy it though. It never gets hot and sweaty because you use it when it's cold.

Wish I'd discovered it sooner.

Love ours. The first set was a gift several years ago. I now have three sets of cloudy soft fleece sheets. I live the way there's no 'cols' spots when I get in bed, it's toasty and warm straight away.

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/10/2023 22:52

My darling sister managed to combine fleece bedding with a new memory foam mattress with the onset of hot flushes.

Her feet survived the spontaneous combustion!

Seriously, the mattress went back, the bedding to the charity shop and she went on HRT.

100% cotton all the way with a "hot bot" for the cold feet moments. It travels the house with me! "Hot bot" is a mini electic blanket thing and they are wonderful, you can sit on them, put them under/over your feet, around your shoulders, on your head (yes I have done that) and cost about £20. Hot Bot is just what we have nicknamed ours.

cissyandbessy · 27/10/2023 22:52

I love mine - paid a bit more for M+S last year and is soft as a cloud
And not sweaty IMO. Brushed cotton seems to get all tangled up as my PJ's kind of drag it about. I have now found the next step up from fleece which is velvet fleece. Next had some last year in very dark green and I can't wait to put them on the bed when it gets super cold.

Mischance · 27/10/2023 22:54

I LOVE my fleece bedding - if I could I would marry it!

maldivemoment · 27/10/2023 23:14

It seems I may have divided the nation!

Got the M&S set for SIL.
She works long shifts and gets in late, so getting warm and comfy in bed quickly is a must.
She loves them! As does the cat, and the dog...

Caswallonthefox · 27/10/2023 23:28

I have discovered that I can have a toastie fitted sheet with a toastie duvet and pillow set. If I'm really cold I can put a toastie blanket on too. If I'm not in bed I can have a toastie hoodie and various shapes and sizes of toastie hot water bottles. I can also, if I'm feeling particularly decadent, have a toastie cushion with arms for when I'm reading. Not that I ever would, I hate being too warm and several layers are known to be better.
I have always been the sort of person that likes to warm up with my bedding. I dontveven like having an electric blanket. Although if there is snow on the ground, which means My bedroom gets chilly I do use my toastie blanket with my 4.5 tog duvet.

Cramlington567 · 27/10/2023 23:46

My kids have fleece pajamas. So much easier to get dry when I do the laundry in winter.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 27/10/2023 23:50

I want flannel.

Not fucking brushed cotton it is NOT the same thing. Brushed cotton is only one side whereas flannel is on both sides. It's so bloody expensive!

Fleece - no way.

ActDottie · 27/10/2023 23:52

I’d hate it so hot and sweaty. But we have a 2018 built house so it’s just never cold enough for fleece bedding.

cadburyegg · 27/10/2023 23:54

I can only sleep in 100% cotton sheets. Even polycotton makes me sweat due to medication and being overweight. Even with 100% cotton I can still wake up drenched sometimes. Just looking at fleece bedding makes me feel hot 🥵

Fionaville · 27/10/2023 23:56

I'm sweating just thinking about it!

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 27/10/2023 23:58

@Laiste I have been scouring thrift stores here in Aus for some of these (because… nostalgia) Now a million degrees here and I imagine I would die if subjected to fleece bedding.
