To think Starmer seriously needs a better haircut

The current hair is just awful, a weird 50s throwback style. Why isn't the Labour party hiring people to style him to look (and sound) professional for leadership? It's not enough these days just to be yourself and jog along. It's serious.

I plan to wait and see who the Lib Dems and Labour offer our constituency in the way of candidates. I liked the local Labour candidate last time round, but not his party leader. Under Starmer, I would support Labour, pragmatically, because we definitely need change -- although I don't dislike Sunak, apart from his fellow travellers. I feel it's a choice between shades of grey right now. The least worst, rather than all out enthusiasm.

You weren't a fan of But Jeremy Corbyn's hair. I am flabbergasted.

Overcooker · 12/10/2023 20:19

Notwithstanding the notion that a haircut may somehow influence voting…I don’t see anything wrong with Starmer’s haircut, at all.

Unless Boris has shifted the Overton window in such a way that politicians have to look Ike scruffy clowns now?

Papyrophile · 12/10/2023 20:19

I know you're being facetious, but I can't even think what colour hair he had! At 70+, grey.... like mine?

I always voted for But Jeremy Corbyn, because I think his hair is amazing.

So YOU're the one to blame for how the country suffered under the yoke of that dangerous leftist maniac. I hope you're thoroughly ashamed of yourself. If only you hadn't been led by trichophilia we could have had Boris of the Mop as PM instead, and then everything would have been fine. Bet he'd have made all the right decisions about Covid.

Do all commie's wear the same hat?

Well of course they do. That's what Communism means.

My influence is massive this is true, and so the result of the last general election was entirely down to my adoration of But Jeremy Corbyn's hair.

Oh heck, apparently I'm a communist, but I don't have the hat, does that mean I'm not?

Overcooker · 12/10/2023 20:34

I don’t think Starmer’s haircut (which I think could be described as ‘neat’ or ‘unremarkable’) is likely to be of any concern in the real world. Being hyper-critical of public figures’ appearance seems more like a Mumsnet thing - we just had a lengthy thread about how David Beckham is average looking or unattractive.

Jellykat · 12/10/2023 20:37

I like his haircut, bit of a 50s vibe.. but thats not why i'll vote for him

Papyrophile · 12/10/2023 21:14

Dvid Beckham is visually gorgeous, but when he speaks...

Papyrophile · 12/10/2023 21:15

A star of the silent screen for me!

Moonbowlspoon · 12/10/2023 21:15

After Boris, I’ll take an old school quiff any day of the week.

Boundoverbyacat · 12/10/2023 21:15

Just had to go and look as never noticed his hair before. And it’s totally normal hair. I think it’s quite nice. but also irrelevant

But Jeremy Corbyn combines it all.

Does anyone else like Govey, Govey, Govey?

Secretly, I have a fondness for the disco queen version of Gove.

This is a thread about Starmer's hair.

Libertass · 12/10/2023 21:32

Ridiculous thread.

Whatever you think of his policies, charisma etc Starmer is a conventionally handsome, albeit not particularly tall, middle aged man with a perfectly good, smart hairstyle.

RogueFemale · 12/10/2023 21:35

ilovesooty · 12/10/2023 02:18

How did Johnson's haircut contribute to getting the electorate to take him seriously then?

I honestly don't imagine any barriers Starmer has with regard to winning votes are anything to do with his haircut.

What, then, do you think the problem is with his personal approval polls?

Johnson's ruffly hair look appealed to people who thought it meant he was a real down to earth bloke [who went to Eton and Oxford] who didn't care about looks. Turns out the hair ruffling was calculated to manipulate.

I know that! I've been playing along for several hours. But, at 67, I may be missing your point. In which case, very sorry. DFO.

bombastix · 12/10/2023 21:43

@jgw1 / not sure you are bowling the right wicket there, but Gove always was a master of deliberate ambiguity.

Probably in order to miss the point, there has to be a point in the first place.
