To think Starmer seriously needs a better haircut

The current hair is just awful, a weird 50s throwback style. Why isn't the Labour party hiring people to style him to look (and sound) professional for leadership? It's not enough these days just to be yourself and jog along. It's serious.

I am not sure "most people are somewhere in the middle, and flit backwards and forwards" is actually true. The outcome of elections is determined by about 50K voters in marginal seats - a lot of places never change, like the PM's seat which has been Tory since 1918. In places like that voting anything other than Tory is utterly pointless.

You might say that, but North Shropshire had only once ever had an MP who was a Tory except when they had 2 and one was a Whig until their latest MP was elected.
I suspect at the next GE election rather a lot of seats who have never not had a Tory might find that is no longer the case.

I always voted for But Jeremy Corbyn, because I think his hair is amazing.

Same cut, just less of it. Like he got issued the budget lizard human suit.

Do you need to change your glasses. But Jeremy Corbyn's fine head of hair is of a completely different style. Sexy.

bombastix · 12/10/2023 18:06

No @MrTiddlesTheCat there is an in house hair salon in the House of Commons. No joke.

The thing is MPs are so hard working they couldn't possibly have time to sort their own hair cut.

Just look at Sunak, he hasn't even had time in his life to work out how to use a petrol garage.

It's hard to tell seeing as he's always wearing his commie hat.

He has to wear that to avoid jealously from those with less fine hair, and also to prevent him being mobbed by too many of his adoring fans.

This thread’s bonkers. Who the fuck votes based on a haircut?

I personally don't have the luxury of voting based on a single issue because I need a functioning country to live in, and can't really afford for the Tory government's economically illiterate mini budget to put my mortgage payment up again.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/10/2023 19:04

@verdantverdure totally agree- both labour and Lib Dem's have overturned some very big Tory majorities indeed - strangely I think the Tory's will hang onto some seats in down at heel areas and lose big time in 'some' more well heeled commuter belt places - places like Surrey, Hertfordshire, Wiltshire etc

Monkspath · 12/10/2023 17:48

We've even got whataboutery regarding haircuts in politics, now 🙄 😂

🎶I think the Tories might be worried🎶

I'm in leafy Surrey. Our mortgages were already big so we are now paying an extra £800-1200 per month.

Even after extending the term etc.

AND WE ARE NOT FANS OF THAT

My vote at the next general election is going to be based upon one single issue.

That the Tories have been excellent at ruining the country.

verdantverdure · 12/10/2023 19:23

Good point @jgw1 Grin

Yes excellent point jgw1 I shall take heed immediately.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/10/2023 19:35

I'm no fan of Starmer, but anyone who judges a politician on the basis of whether their haircut is sufficiently modern and 'professional-looking' is a blithering idiot, frankly. It's not even as if he has a ridiculous, messy or outlandish hairstyle! So yeah - YABVU.

To be fair it is at least as logical as voting based on but do they know what a woman is, when one party has consistently done its best to degrade women's rights and safety whilst in government.

Gets notebook out, another very logical reason for voting shower of shysters.
I swoon at Jeremy’s hair jgw1 especially when let loose from the commie hat.

In fairness, that’s not that unusual in a massive workplace. My first job was in a very large department store and it had a in-house hair salon for staff that opened a day and a half a week for appointments. They also had a company GP.

bombastix · 12/10/2023 20:02

It's also for Parliamentary staff so that they too can all have the same haircut. But MPs use it a lot before television appearances

Papyrophile · 12/10/2023 20:09

I plan to wait and see who the Lib Dems and Labour offer our constituency in the way of candidates. I liked the local Labour candidate last time round, but not his party leader. Under Starmer, I would support Labour, pragmatically, because we definitely need change -- although I don't dislike Sunak, apart from his fellow travellers. I feel it's a choice between shades of grey right now. The least worst, rather than all out enthusiasm.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/10/2023 20:11

I welcome any statement from either party that shows they know what a woman is, because it at least implies they can see which way the wind is blowing. But I'm not naïve enough to think it means either party is going to be genuinely supportive of women. With Labour you only have to look at how they treated the women in their party who showed any support for gc views.
