To think Starmer seriously needs a better haircut

The current hair is just awful, a weird 50s throwback style. Why isn't the Labour party hiring people to style him to look (and sound) professional for leadership? It's not enough these days just to be yourself and jog along. It's serious.

We'll never have a better political class as long as we keep prioritising superficial rubbish like haircuts over decent policies.

Thatcher was a woman trying to be taken seriously by her colleagues and succeed in a man's world.

I couldn't care less about how politicians cut their hair as long as they look professional.

BHRK · 12/10/2023 08:17

FFS. I will vote for him regardless

IncomingTraffic · 12/10/2023 08:19

Seriously?

Why do you think it’s acceptable to comment on his appearance in this way?

BlackForestCake · 12/10/2023 08:23

His haircut is the least offensive thing about him. A much bigger problem is that he's got two faces and no backbone.

Normcore · 12/10/2023 08:25

A Posie Parker “Woman: Adult Human Female“ tee shirt would help

Our last PM looked like he brushed his hair with a knife and fork and he seemed to be pretty popular.

This is why the electorate get the people the vote for. No charisma, not 'fun' bad hair cut.....
Exactly.

Last but one. You forgot the one who had been styled, but crashed the economy and was outlived by a lettuce.

Whatafustercluck · 12/10/2023 08:31

It's this kind of vacuous approach to our political representatives that honestly makes me despair. When Theresa May became PM and entered number 10, it was her shoes and outfit that much of the media focused on ffs. Populism had meant we end up with 'characters' in charge, instead of grown ups.

I get it, SKS is not the most exciting, passionate, charismatic leader of the opposition we've ever seen. Even my dad, who is die hard Labour, finds it difficult to take to him personally. But the media must take a lot of responsibility for his lack of exposure. Blair got elected partly because he was good at courting the Tory owned press to gain the centrist voting population's support.

What was plastered all over the front pages two general elections ago? Ed Milliband eating a bloody bacon roll!

On a serious note, op, I do agree that sadly style over substance seems to win people over. I despair, but I think you're right, and sadly I think that politicians need to play the 'game' correctly to be seen to be 'winners' (although fuck knows what happened where BJ was concerned, the scruffy bag of excrement tied in the middle). But I don't think there's anything wrong with how SKS looks, it's his lack of exposure that needs fixing.

CalistoNoSolo · 12/10/2023 08:36

God what an idiotic thread. Yes of course we should be more worried about what he looks like than who he actually is and what he actually believes in.

pointythings · 12/10/2023 08:36

His hair is fine. He looks like what he is - a grownup slightly dull politician. Which is what the UK badly needs.

This isn't a discussion of Labour policies, but about looking the part to get elected. Starmer needs a better haircut to be taken seriously by voters across the board. Polling says people are doubtful about him, and part of it is because of how he looks.

You are having a laugh surely?

I've always thought Starmer has great hair. What do you want him to do with it?

Do you honestly think that the public will be voting on a haircut and not a political party?

You might be that shallow, I'm not!

Freysimo · 12/10/2023 08:37

Starmer always reminds me of Max Headroom, if anyone remembers him. Similar robotic delivery too.

DragonDoor · 12/10/2023 08:38

Why isn't the Labour party hiring people to style him to look (and sound) professional for leadership?

What makes you think they haven’t??

I think Kier looks good … and I like his hair

CalistoNoSolo · 12/10/2023 08:40

I've just done a Google image search on Starmer. I'm really struggling to see wt actual f is wrong with his barnet. It's just a middle age man hair cut. What's the problem? I am glad he's not trying to look like a fuckwitish contestant from Love Island. I want a serious politician in charge, not someone who cares more about his tan and his fucking wax. Jesus Christ.

fearfuloffluff · 12/10/2023 08:41

I think his hair is fine. If you look him up from earlier days, I think it's quite wavy and bushy and would potentially look scruffy if longer.

It's the kind of haircut people from any background might have - longer and wavier and people would say he looks like a student, part of metropolitan elite etc.

KnittedCardi · 12/10/2023 08:41

Unfortunately OP is right. Starmer is not standout. Now, we are due a boring leader, history shows us the swings that go from charisma and looks to grey and boring. Starmer gives me the creeps, personal opinion. He is soft, has no neck, greasy hair, looks doughy, looks a bit like an old lady, and has zero charisma. He whines when he speaks. That may not matter, policy is more important, and Labour are going to be voted in, but he may not last long, and certainly will be a non entity on the world stage.

KimberleyClark · 12/10/2023 08:42

I’ll always love Ed.

Stroopwaffels · 12/10/2023 08:42

His hair and clothing is fine. It's neat and smart - I don't think politics should ever be style over substance.

Highandlows · 12/10/2023 08:42

A haircut? Politicians have real chance if they have charismatic talents. You either have it or not.

redribbonrose · 12/10/2023 08:43

I couldn't give a flying fuck about hair or style

Bojo was elected remember

redribbonrose · 12/10/2023 08:44

What's wrong with his hair?

It's not hugely different to Sunak

Coffeerum · 12/10/2023 08:45

Are you suggesting the bojo look is better and something to be aspired to?

KS’s hair is simple, neat and tidy. It looks professional, groomed and absolutely fine for the leader of a party.

Are you taking the piss?

wizzywig · 12/10/2023 08:46

He always reminds me of David Hasselhoff

AdamRyan · 12/10/2023 08:47

ApolloandDaphne · 12/10/2023 04:37

I've just scrutinised pictures of him and cannot see what is wrong with his hair. As a pp said it's pretty much the same haircut as Rishi Sunak has. Neat and tidy. What sort of hair cut would you like to see? Mullet? Shaved? Curly perm?

Grin

This has made me chuckle. I now have images of KS running into the sea with his life saving body board. I hope Labour's campaign people are on here. I can see that on a bill board 😂
